What followed thereafter was an ear-deafening crash, the shattering sounds of glass and excruciating pain that seemed to tear his mind apart. He Juan let out a breathless gasp as everything in front of him went dark, and it was only through sheer willpower that he was able to crack his eyes open again.
Through his hazy vision, he found that the front hood of the car had crashed into a wall of rocky hill, causing small pebbles and soil to fall on the roof like the extremely wild and chaotic beat of a drum. Cobwebs crack spread across the windscreen. A faint sizzling sound came from the engine and the pungent scent of oil assaulted his nose.
He Juan remained in a daze for a few seconds, unable to differentiate whether he was still trapped inside his memory or somewhere else. The words he had said with his own mouth still lingered in his ears. 'Let's die together'? Who was he saying it for? Under what circumstances would he say something like that to another person…?
