Beginning? End?

(Yun Long/Yassin)'s POV

Red Devil

They were originally humans who sold their souls to the devil in the face of temptation. Contracting a devil was worse than death, not just your body even your soul wouldn't belong to you anymore. You'll be their slave even after death.

I anxiously paced back and forth in the library trying to comprehend why the original Yun Long sold his soul to the devil.

Suddenly, it hit me. I wrote a short mention of the reason for Yun Long's transformation to a Red Devil. It was because his father died in an accident caused by the devil. Why did Yun Long contract with the Devils if his father were killed by the Devils? Well, it was a plot point I forgot to write. There were various ideas in my head for this mystery but never wrote any of it. I wonder which reason it is.

I felt a bit uneasy after remembering this piece of information. Damn the remnant consciousness of the original Yun Long is influencing me.

Still, out of concern or what I still searched for my father.

-

"Bohai, where's father," I asked my butler who was managing the wine cellar.

"He's in his study room, Young master." The butler answered respectfully while staring at me with a complicated gaze. He was a very trusted servant of my father. I don't know what that complicated gaze meant but he knew my father more than me I guess. Coupled with the dull and lifeless eyes of my father as well as his love-hate relationship with Yun Long, there was a bit of mystery surrounding him.

Well, he was a filler character after all who had just one mention of him in the entire story.

I wanted to slap myself for not writing more about him or else I wouldn't be in this situation.

Little knowledge is dangerous.

I just know he dies in an accident caused by the devil, that's all.

With a sigh, I nodded at my butler and headed to my father's study room.

Knock-Knock-

After a period of indecisiveness, I knocked at the door.

"Come in."

I opened the door and looked at my father, he was quietly reading a book while sitting near the window. He turned to look at me and said:

"What's the matter, Yun Long?" His deep blue eyes staring at me made me flinch. I was genuinely at a loss for words. What should I say? He's gonna die soon. The original Yun Long was never at good terms with his father and if I truly said that, it would just be a next level rude prank.

"I-It's nothing d-dad," I spoke with great difficulty while rigidly walking away. I think I heard a sigh afterward.

-

"Bohai"

"Yes, Young Master."

"Inform me if father is going anywhere."

"Yes, young master," Bohai answered while looking at me with curious eyes. I pretended I didn't notice it and walked away.

"OH... Young master..." Bohai clapped his hands like he remembered something and said:

"Master has an important meeting he needs to attend next week."

"Okay..." I calmly nodded while my heart was in great turmoil.

-

I gently pushed the door to my room with my back, closing it. Leaning on the closed door, I sighed. The soul of Yun Long and Yassin seemed to have fused or else I wouldn't be feeling this odd feeling which I never knew. But still, I wasn't the naive Yun Long who didn't know the vastness of this world. The cruelty of this world. Dying once was already enough for me.

'No, it wasn't worth it.'

It really wasn't. I had questioned myself at the time of my death that was it worth it to save the girl.

You know what, the answers a no or I wouldn't have ended up in this world full of danger. This world doesn't let you have peace even in death.

My body slid down the door, curling up. I was exhausted with the emotional battle inside of me.

My eyes felt heavy as I entered dreamland.

-

"F-Father, Can you please not go." Yun Long said while fidgeting a little. His voice was a bit shaky.

"Sorry, Yun Long. But I have to"

The middle-aged man standing opposite of Yun Long said with a deep and hoarse voice. He was slightly more than 180 cm tall, and his black hair had a few silver strands. His deep blue eyes were like a lake at night, and he was rather good looking. He gave off a mature vibe.

"Can't you postpone it after I've gone to university?" Yun Long begged.

"Sorry... Yun Long. This meeting is very important. I can't postpone it. Now, don't waste my time. I'm going." The middle-aged man picked up his suitcase and headed for the car.

Yun Long opened his mouth like he wanted to say something but no words escaped his lips. His voice got stuck on his throat. With an exhausted sigh, he went back to his room.

-

Yun Long was pacing back and forth in his room. As Yun long paced back and forth, the whole room seemed gloomy. There was fear, sorrow, anxiety, agitation, and countless other emotions reflected on his face.

'Why are you sad my child?'

A voice that seemed to clear away all the gloom and negativity in the room spoke out of nowhere. Hearing this voice, Yun Long's whole body and spirit seemed to relax. It felt like he was cuddling in his mother's embrace. But-

The voice and the sensation made Yun Long's heart run cold. It was the voice of the devil.

'What do you want my child?. I can give you everything. Power, money, women? You don't have to feel sad ever again.'

Yun Long just kept a stiff lip and said nothing. He had to endure the temptation. He didn't have the confidence to outwit a devil. Even if it was his own creation. If he fell for the tricks of the devil, death would be the best-case scenario.

tick, tock-

The sound of the clock was like a devil playing with his heart-strings. He knew his father's life was in danger and he was just a weak little boy who could do nothing. The devil's temptations got all the more enticing.

His mentality was like a thin sheet of paper, anything could poke through it. He wanted to break down.

Yun Long covered his ears with his hands and curled in a corner of the room. Even a child could feel his insecurity. The Devil's murmuring was chipping away at his logic and reasoning.

--

Yun long didn't know how he spent his last two days. His face was pale white like not even a single drop of blood was present there. It left one reeling in goosebumps. Even a little movement seemed to take all of his energy.

The constant murmur of the Devil.

The insecurities in his heart.

The loathing and disgust he felt towards himself.

All of it made him like he was living on the edge.

Yun Long turned on the T.V. With shaking hands, he turned the channel towards news. Even if a little, there was a little hope in him that his father didn't die. The Butterfly effect saved his father. He wished.

But reality was like a cold bucket of water splashed in his head. It was just a pipe dream.

A single tear escaped from his right eye but his left eye wasn't even moist. Yun Long laughed at that sensation. It was probably the tear of the original Yun Long, not his. He started to wildly tear at his hair.

Yun Long felt like a monster. If he just for one second got out of his comfort zone and tried his best, his father could have been saved. No... He didn't even have the right to call him father. He was just a body stealing re-incarnate.

'They aren't just a character anymore. They are real people with flesh, blood, and soul.'

'Their pain, sufferings, and their emotions are real. All of it. Their tragedies are real.'

'And I created all of it.'

'I'm... sorry'

'I'll fix this twisted world and it's twisted story.'
