Chapter 7

When love is real, everything happens automatically.

It's natural this way. And;

No one is a failure. we're all created to serve a given purpose.

Lala is indeed a happy woman, she's got everything going her way this time round which includes a loving family, a man who loves who can't be distracted from loving her, a brother like any one would wish to have a sibling, a reliable and caring best friend, a non stressing job and a place to call home which she was lacking at first.

The next day at the apartment Mr Yang comes out of his apartment and knocks on Lola's door. A door opens infront of him and guess who, it's Lala his great expectation. "Good morning Mr Yang" she greats him with a very pretty smile, "please come in." He starts walking inside majestically with a smile fully loaded on his face. "How is my little buddy?" he asks after making himself comfortable on a sofa. "He's at school right now," she answers. "Okay, I miss him. I was thinking of playing a little hide and speak but since he's not here, you're the mouse on the trap," he speaks some jokes. Lala can't wait to laugh, which she does. "Maybe am going to be the lion and you're the gazelle," Lala says in fun. "Am the bull remember" he makes a bull eye, "anyways, deliver this package to my little buddy for me," he hands it over to her. she tries to look inside but it is sealed. Don't open what's not yours thats trying to be greedy" he smiles and says, "Please turn around." Which she excitedly does. He wraps a glittering five star shaped diamond necklace around Lala's neck. "Do you love it?" He asks. "It's very beautiful," she lifts it from her neck and takes a look at it in response.

"You're a star that shines so bright in my darkest life that I can see," he flatters. Lala's face is filled with extreme joy. She turns around, wraps her hand around his neck and kisses him to show gratitude. "I love you so much Mr Yang," she states passionately looking into his eyes. "You have all the reasons not to but here, you mean everything to me" He says, "it's my daily duty to put a smile onto your prettiest face." All these romantic words he says while looking at her in the eyes with his arms wrapped around her waist. They can't wait to share a warm hug. He gains his seat back again after the after a passionate hug. "So how does my little buddy coupe up with you being absent and no one home to catter for him especially when he gets back from school?" curiously he asks, " isn't it tough for him?" "I too used to be worried about him but no more," she says freely, "he's a strong man." "Life never spoon fed us back in the days that's what built him. Mr Jiang picks him very early in the morning for school, he picks him back home. He knows where to find everything he needs to take care of himself. Jack is intelligent." She explains in total confidence. "Why are you folding your face like you're mad?" She asks wondering. "I'm jeolous," he says. "About what?" She asks. "About Mr Jiang you've just mentioned," he answers with toughness but in a joking way. She smiles and say, "no need for you to hang yourself about men because I have only you. Mr Jiang is our cab driver that's all," she gives him assurance. Mr Yang can now lift his he'd up high as a pilot in the cockpit. "Anyways good to here that" he responds with a smile, "I wanted to ask him for your hand in marriage." Lala coughs in two bits and starts laughing out loud. She really laughs more and more. "Why are you laughing?" he asks. "You just can't be serious about it," she says on laughing. "Why not?!" Seriously he asks, "this is your brother and your only family like you told me!" "He's just a young stubborn boy who knows nothing about permitting a relationship. What do you think he's going to tell you?" she laughs more. "Anyways" she sighs as she say, " I have a beautiful sister, a mother and a father too that you can meet besides my brother. It's my family now." Mr Yang silently listens. "I've already told them a lot about you" she elaborates, "and they can't wait to meet you." He pretends to know nothing about the family she's telling him about. "So, tell me" he asks, "what have you told them about me?" "You're very handsome, caring, funny and crazy about me," she gives a teasing smile. He gives a shy smile. "I will take you to them when you feel ready if it's okay with you," she adds. "You've never talked about them, "he mentions. "Maybe there was no reasonable need by then, or it wasn't the right time," she replies.

"But my sister is not happy I've come to think about it. I really feel sorry for her," she sadly says. "What is wrong with her?" He asks. "It's about her relationship" she freely tells him, "she is so much in love with her fiancée, but her fiancée is never around. Yesterday she was crying all day after coming back from her fiancé's place." He inquisitively listens, watching her attentively. "Maybe because he is wealthy," Lala displays emotionally angry feelings in her voice. "I don't want a wealth man, she says. "Am blessed to have a different man," she states with a smile. "I wish I meet my sister's fiancée, and ask him why he doesn't cherish such a beautiful treasure he has" she talks aggressively, "my sister is so beautiful, kind and very caring. She's so innocent to be shading tears in a relationship." "No one intentionally makes the loved one cry" Mr Yang responds to her worry. " Maybe her fiancée loves someone else!" He puts a statement to note. "Exactly! then why can't he tell her?! besides, why did he take it to the next level proposing?" She yells so touched. "Am so sorry it was just a thought," he gets closer to cool her out of anger. "Am sorry for this careless reaction of mine. I didn't think before acting," she apologizes. "I've realized how much you care about your step sister and how you feel for her" he talks calming her down, "when you worry it's going to affect your health. You need to calm down."

"Are you going to be like him now that yesterday you proposed to me?" She worriedly asks. "All I understand right now is making sure you're the happiest" he speaks with affection, " no need for you to worry, just sit back and watch the space. I won't disappoint you that's a promise." "I say it again, I will never forgive myself if I happen to make you cry even a single day in this boat filled with our love," he stresses. Lala keeps her pretty eyes on him all the way as he airs out these words. She feels so safe around him it is all written in her eyes. "If I loose you am dead,"It is what Mr Yang's face speaks. They both cuddle on the sofa were they're both seated.

"Dodo, you're still putting on your night dress for breakfast! aren't you going to the office today?" Dad asks. She walks and gets herself a seat on the dinning. "Father, am not well since last night I didn't sleep well. I need a cup of coffee right now and sometime off," she tells him. "What exacly is the problem" curiously he asks, " my daughter is sick again and I don't know." "I will be fine dad, you don't have to worry yourself," she consoles him. "Hope so," dad chills in his voice. "By the way, about your concern the other night, I mad up my mind to follow up and see what's up," just like a caring father, he creates happiness on her daughter's face. "Really," she yells in wonder. She stands up and meet her father on the other side of the dinning where he is sitting and gives him an appreciating hug. "Thank you very much dad please be more serious," she happily shows gratitude to her fathers deed. Then she sits back to enjoy her breakfast with a smile.

After a few seconds, dad asks whether mother is still asleep and Dodo tells him how she woke up very early today and it's rear. "I went to check on her and she was already up reading her book," says she says. "I think I need to go check how she's doing, " with concern dad says. "She's not in good moods" Dodo replies, "last night we were expecting Don to come and we waited but he didn't show up. I think this is why she is in this state." "Why am I always the last person to know anything?" He asks. Before completing his breakfast, Dad pick up his mobile phone right from the table and dials 'son'. Don at Lala's apartment feels his phone vibrating in the pockets, gets it out, looks on the screen, it's dad calling. He mutes it and put it back into his pockets. "Is everything fine?" Lala asks depending on her fiancé's facial expression. "Never mind it's no big deal," he replies.Dad on the dinning tells Dodo, "he's not answering his phone." "But why is he doing this to us?!" in wonder she asks. "I can't conclude that way because he has never done. Let's wait and see. Maybe there's a problem" states dad, "just continue with your breakfast." Dodo continues to eat but her appetite is out of the window. Breakfast is nolonger going well. "Let me go and see what mom is upto," Dodo stands up leaving her dad on the dinning and walks upstairs.

Back to Lala and Mr Yang (Don) at the apartment. "I nearly forgot why am here," saying Mr Yang. Lala looks at him wondering. "Yeah, I prepared breakfast for both of us" he says, "I suggest we go to my apartment I serve you my queen." "Wow!" she exclaims, "You're so perfect. But first complete your glass of juice." Mr Yang stands up, holds her hand to stand, I cant wait breakfast is getting cold." Lala leads the way as they match out holding hands upto Mr Yang's apartment.

"She's growing more healthier ever since she entered into a relationship," Dodo speaks to mom watching lala coming from a distance in the compound. "Good afternoon Mom, good afternoon sister," she greats with a freedom smile. "Am surprised to meet you outside today," she says. "We couldn't wait to see the man behind your shining" mother says and Dodo laughs, "this is why we're waiting here." "You're kidding me," she amusingly says. "I want to meet my in-law maybe we can exchange," jokingly, Dodo speaks. That is if he agrees" Lala says, " I have no problem." "Don't make me nervous" mother states driving their attention off the topic, "take me back in the house it is time for lunch hour news." Lala pushes mother's wheelchair and Dodo follows behind. "How was the meeting with fiancée" Lala asks, "was it promising?" Both mother and Dodo run silent for a moment. "What is it you're not saying anything!" Lala wonders. "Can you imagine we waited until 2pm and on top of it all calling but his phone was in voice mail," Dodo narrates. "I left him a tough voice mail, it's not going to be easy for him," mother courageously says.

"I didn't hear that mom I personally took you to bed," Dodo responds opposing her mom's words. "That was after getting into my bed, failing to sleep all night drowned deep in a hip of thoughts, so angry and irritated" with anger expression mom says, " I couldn't bare it." Dodo stares at mom with a wondering face. Mom looks so relaxed and confident. "What didn't you tell him mom?" Dodo gets inquisitive, " hope he's not going to avoid me more." "Are you saying you doubt your mother?" mom asks in confidence. " I've got your back my daughter, " she assures her. "Let me make your fruit salad mom," Lala says walking away. Dodo picks a remote and turns on the Television for mom to watch. With no worries, mom relaxes in her wheelchair and puts a smile on her face.

"I think this is the time" on phone Don says, " right now I have a lot to loose because you failed to do your job right. "If anything must be done right, the best way is to do it yourself," he adds angrily. He then hangs up the phone. In his gym outfit, he walks to the sparing room and asks for the best five in the room to practice with. "Please, make it real don't fear to kick me he instructs, " attack me at your best considering the enemy is taking away your life and you must save it. " Sure!" they all accept. "Don't hesitate" he says, " it's time to prove yourselves in marshal arts." They start surrounding him for an attack. Within no minute, he beats all of the down without a smack reaching his body from any of them. "I told you no mercy" he says, "give your best." Standing up aggressively with anger, they attack him once again ready to damage. One by one thrown on the ground rolling in pain like tennis ball. This is the time all of them realize they need to improve their skills because they cannot fight a single man. After cooling his anger through kick boxing, he goes to his locker, picks a towel, wraps it around his neck and walks on. He enters into the bathroom, opens the shower, stands in relaxed posture with his hands supporting him from the wall and water sprinkles on his body from the head. Don spends some long time in the shower room.

In the night Mr Jiang's cab drops Lala at the apartment. Don witnesses it happen across the road where he is standing. Watching and proving her arrival home, he then walks gently and enters into another cab waiting on the side. The cab drives him upto the hotel. He pays the driver on stepping out and walks towards his Rolls-Royce waiting infront of the hotel. The rear suicide door opens automatically, he gets in and away it drives. He is followed by his bodyguards in an Escalade as it is usually done in his normal lifestyle.

The convoy branches off to the mansion lane and drives upto the gate. Don's driver gets out, he walks to the side of the security system and enters the codes. The gate opens, he walks back into the driving seat and the cars enter onto the mansion's drive way. It rolls upto the packing. Don steps out with his security guards and he walks to the entrance. He presses the bell button to get response. Within a minute, the door opens. A,house worker welcomes him and she closes back the door. Don finds mother, Mr James (father) and Dodo his first fiancée sitting with expectation of him. All their eyes on him, he bows in respect for mother and father before anything. He then walks to sit next to where Dodo is sitting.

"My conduct lately has not been of reach to your expectations due to the reasons I would like to but cannot reveal to you in at this time. You're my family, the family I've grown up knowing. Caring and watching each other back. Sharing the sad and happy moments. I want to use this time to thank you for raising me mom, dad and Dodo," Don speaks.

"Am happy to see you today, very healthy like this. The most reason for my joy is looking at both of you safe and sound. You're great children, I love you so much," affectionately mother speaks smiling.

"You need to know that as parents we're so concerned" dad says, " Dodo cries almost every single minute of her life all because she loves you so much and you're not at reach." "We really need to know where exactly is the problem," he continues. Don keeps quiet. "Am sorry to inform you that am disappointed in the way you treat your fiancée. As a man you're supposed to make her happy not cry," madly dad speaks to him.

"We're requesting to know the programme you have for her especially about the wedding now that you're back," Mom supplements. Dodo is very quiet watching the space. "With all due respect, I need sometime to decide the right way to go," Don claims. "What do you mean right way to go?" tough dad asks. "Marrying your fiancée is not eradicating a mountain" Dad yells, "Is there anything you don't want to tell us?" "Son" mom calls calmly, "Am not growing any younger. I need to start seeing my grand children. Months back I was going to die without experiencing the joy of a grandmother. You literally have everything in life. Please, get married and give me grand children," mom begs. "Mom, for as long as I want you to be happy, I cannot over look my desires in life. Trust me I will give you grand children if it is really the point," Don says. "I want to see Dodo happy " dad mentions, "it is all I want from you." "Dad" Dodo speaks, " Please don't be rude at him." Dodo holds Don's hand warmly and looks straight into his eyes. "Truth is am so worried about us" with passion she says, " tell me everything is going to be okay for us." "Mom," Don calls, " did you really have to go that far?" He asks standing up from his sitting position. "If I didn't tell you those words you wouldn't have been here my son," mom replies. "I think I have to leave" he gets so personal on speaking, "See all of you soon." He walks away. "Don, Don, Don....," Dodo calls him following but he keeps walking without looking behind. She returns curiously and faces her mom, asking in wonder, "what did you say to him mom?!" I need my fiancée dad, mom, please do something here, " loudly she cries as she shouts. Dad stands up and holds her in comfort. "It's alright my daughter" he says, "me and your mom are going to make sure all is well between both of you." What exacly did mom tell my fiancée?" She asks crying, " hopefully it's not the reason he's mad." "Trust me it's not," dad carefully tells her daughter. Mom sitting quietly in thoughts, she takes a deep breath and sighs. Dodo leaves her dad's arms and run so fast crying upstairs with no questions, to her bedroom.

"What did you tell our son that has made him behave that way," dad sits close to mom and asks.
