Chapter 8

Ian was walking down the hall quietly, when he suddenly saw Chloe in front of the classroom. He greeted her and went in together. Stella was already at her seat. "Good morning," she said.

"Good morning," they replied. "You look tired today, did something happen?"

"No, I was practicing covering up my door at the dormitory," she said.

"So did you make it?" She asked.

"Yes, I managed to fill the blanks with my power, but I'm not sure if it's stable enough."

"You'll do okay," she said. "Maybe if you practice more, it won't be very hard."

"It's not a very strong skill," she said. "I tried for a few times and it worked out."

"You're just talking without evening trying, Chloe," Ian said.

Chloe looked at him astonishedly. "I was only saying that she should practice more," she said. "I haven't done so much skills training."

"Maybe you should take a go at it," he said.

"Yes, today afternoon."

Stella laughed. It was like them to bicker before class. Ian had always persisted that Chloe should try harder, but she likes to learn her skills without working too much on it. After that, she would tidy up her stuff and put them in order.

After the lesson, they sat together in the classroom. Stella wanted to know if things happened to be okay with Chloe. She said that she had a few tasks to do, but it is okay and that she could complete it on time. Stella was glad to hear that she didn't need any help. They didn't have much work today and an afternoon off would be a good way to take a break.

After school, Chloe met Stella at the gates. They walked together for a while. "What are you doing in the evening?" Chloe asked.

"Probably reading, what about you? Are you going to do some practice?" She said.

"Yes, I think I might try some hard skills and come up with a way to learn it," she replied. "I'm quite unsure about the middle-leveled one. You have to use some energy in doing so, but when it works, there isn't much power in it."

"I'm not certain, maybe you can search in the books for something about it."

"I might do that. Thanks for your suggestion."

They parted ways. Before leaving, Chloe glanced back at her for a while. She had thought that she would had already practiced some, but it seemed that she did not know about it. The daylight projected her shadow onto the pavement.

Stella opened the door to her appartement. There was a strange clicking sound. She saw her roommate counting seeds on the table.

"What are you doing?" She asked.

Her roommate turned to her. "I'm counting seeds. They are lily seeds for the living room," she said.

"They look quite big," she said.

"Yes, you have to soak them in water. After some time it will begin to sprout and then you can plant them."

"Just like the tulips over there," she said.

A beep sound clang through the room. She reached into her bag and took out her phone. A message appeared on her screen.

"Hi, I didn't see you today, so I wanted to ask if you wanted to go to the library with me." It was a message from Dani.

She unlocked the screen and wrote, "Maybe, if we meet tomorrow."

"Who is it?" Her roommate asked.

"Someone from my class," she said and opened the door to her room. She was met with a gush of warm atmosphere. She quickly stepped inside and closed the door behind her. In the evening, a gush of rose fragrance hanged in the air. She could hear footsteps as someone entered the living room. She put her pen aside and went out.

"Hi," she said, as she opened the door.

"Hi," the person said. "What are you doing?"

"I'm checking if the shelf is full," she said. "I have some things that don't have space in my room."

"You can put it there if you want."

She put a box with plush doll in place and went back to her room. The sky was getting dull and it was getting dark. She looked at her clock. It said 6'00 o'clock. We might make it tomorrow, she thought.
