Chapter 7

"I hope by the time this message reaches you, you are already home," a message appeared on her phone. "We went through a lot and I managed to finish my project thanks to you."

"It's okay, I was doing something that I thought would help you write the article," she replied back.

The night went away without any more messages. She thought about Dani, it wasn't a bad idea that she didn't ask him to wait for her. He would have had to wait a lot. She sighed silently and pulled the covers over her. Some footsteps approached the door. She was very tired and went to sleep without opening it. The person left as well.

"Good morning," Stella greeted her roommate in the kitchen. "How are you?"

"Good morning," she replied. "I noticed something in the fridge that needs to be taken out."

"What is it?" Stella asked.

"The vegetables," she said. "They've been there for a few days and I think they are starting to wilt."

"Oh, okay. I'll have a look later and take them out," she said. Her roommate left before she could open the fridge. After taking them out, she went out. It was warm and it reminded her of the flowers blooming down the street. She met Dani outside the gates and greeted him.

"Hi, did you sleep well last night?"

"Yes, we went home early."

"Do you want to meet up for lunch?"

"Okay," he said. "But I've got an appointment at 1 o'clock, so I can't stay for too long."

"That's okay," she said.

They walked in silence for a while.

"How did the article go?" He asked. "Did you manage to finish it?"

"Yes," she said. "I managed to find a book that I had wanted to read and it went without much delay."

"That's good to hear." He said. "He might ask you for another meet up, if you hadn't finished it on time."

The bell rang and they went to their seats. The teacher came in and introduced them to sample of butterflies. The monarch butterfly stood out with a black and red pattern. It is a form of müllerian mimicry, when they develope similar traits to one's defences. It was slowly getting warm and the sunlight shone through the windows. A gentle breeze came in. She stared at Chloe, who was looking sideways out of the window. She smiled, when she noticed her looking at herself. A few cases rattled and the samples were being tidied up. On the projection were words describing the mimicry of some butterflies. Chloe turned around and tilted her head slightly. Behind her, she could hear Ian's calm breath. She turned back to her book and waited for class to finish. The bell rang again slowly. She got up from her seat and headed for the cafeteria.

She met Dani there and walked up to him. "Hi, how long can you stay?" She asked.

"About half an hour," he replied.

"Okay," she said. They sat in silence for a while. "Are you also going to stay for the afternoon?"

"No, it's going to take some time," he said. "But I'll be back tomorrow morning."

"Then it'll be me, Chloe and Ian."

"I have an appointment at a glasses shop. It's that I got short sighted recently and I need glasses because I usually sit at the back," he said quietly.

"So you're going to the opticians," she replied. "I don't need any for the time being. They are quite new."

"When did you get them?" He asked.

"A few years ago," she said. "I've been having them since then."

"Do you like them?" He persisted.

"Yes, I got comfortable in them," she said. "I hope it goes well, have a nice afternoon."

He got up and left the seat. It was put back with a bump. She looked at him again and waved.
