Chapter 48: The Battle of Man

I have some issues with the final challenge. Basically, it’s sexist. I know that ‘man’ refers to ‘mankind,’ but ‘mankind’ is sexist and always has been.

I’m sure I’ll have other problems too, but that’s the big one that I’m focused on while we have lunch.

Connor footed the catering bill, and the seventeen of us have enough sandwiches for a small battalion. Well, maybe not that much. But I’m pretty sure they ordered for fifty. Which is good; after shifting twice without it being the full moon, everyone is very hungry.

I am too, but that’s more nerves than anything else.

“You’ve won, you know,” Greg says, as he comes up for air between sandwiches. “You’ve already passed three of the Battles. In a way, it doesn’t really matter what the last one is. You could just tell them to go screw themselves and we could just go home.”

I shake my head. “One more and we get the cattle,” I say. “Besides, I’m playing with house money, now. Oh, and one more thing: you’re going to therapy.”
