I have a problem, a huge one at that.

"dear, you have a problem again?" I hear my mom yell all the way from her room.

"yes mom!!" I yell back from where I currently was, at the backyard.

How did my mom know?

I'll tell you.

She's a mage, a very powerful one at that. But we have to stay low, I mean you wouldn't want people running away, do you?

Moments later, my mom appears behind the door leading to the yard.

"you fine darling?" she asks, approaching me.

"no." I mumble.

Of course I wasn't okay, I mean.... I just accidentally cut my finger with a knife.

How?

I was the only one silly enough to use a knife as a gardening tool.

I sigh.

My mom pats me on the head.

"alright now Eve, you have to cheer up. You're still a child, you'll get the hang of it soon." my mom said, not upset with me at all.

Young? Soon? Oh come on!

Anyway, I didn't blame her. For someone who was probably 3000 years old.

I get it.

I huff in defeat.

"mom, I'm still a teenager. How can I be so silly?" I blame myself.

"It's not your fault, Eve." She said calmly, lowering to my height.

Mind you I was squatting at the moment. Not short.

"to me, you'll always be my genius. No matter what, don't stress yourself too much." My mom says with a small smile.

A smile so reassuring enough, it calmed me down.

"now," she said getting to her feet.

"what do you say, we make lunch together." she asks stretching her hand down towards me.

I stare at her hand for a while. "sure." I say, grabbing it and pulling myself up until I was standing face to face with my mom.

"I would love to." I say with a smile. My finger had healed by now.

Soon, I find myself in the kitchen with my mom making lunch. And truth be told, we were doing a very terrible job at it.

The perfect intro I could think of, into her catastrophic life....
