Chapter 3

Weeks passed and Mei got busy on her daily routine as well as part time jobs. Even though she and Ling meet at Mcronalds, Ling always said her cousin hasn't said to meet her yet. Mei could only give a weak smile and told Ling its alright since she is already grateful for Ling's help. It is only a month left before the contest application deadline would end and she hasn't yet passed her works. She was already getting ready to pack her things up to go home when Ling came in with short breaths.

"Mei, hear me out!! you…you…you wouldnt believe…my…my cousin, he said yes!! he said yes mei!!" Ling explained in short breaths.

Mei couldn't believe what she heard, "really? When can I meet him Ling? Wait…relax first before answering."

Ling took a deep breath and sat down, "Uhm…I think he said he is free this weekend. You can meet him here."

Mei was happy, so happy to the point she hugged Ling so tightly. "Thanks so much Ling, I owe you a lot now."

"Oh no…I did this so I can wear one of your designs in the future. But mei hear me out…you should be careful of my cousin, you see one of the reasons he is so hard to convince is because he looks so handsome that all the girls follows him. So…don't fall for him okay?" Ling said while grabbing both Mei's hands. The latter could only nod.

When weekend came, Mei woke up early and did her routine at home. After finishing everything, she hurriedly went into her room and got dressed. She choosed to wear a simple white shirt paired with black cargo pants and white tennis shoes. She had her black hair tied up, she looked at herself and smiled proudly.

"I'm sure with this look, he wont think I am one of those girls who chase him base on his look," she muttered to herself.

Although she doesnt know if what Ling said about her cousin is true, but its good to be prepared. She slowly came down the stairs and looked around ensuring her family werent around to avoid being questioned, she sigh in relief when she noticed no one is there. When she was about to reach up for the door knob, someone caught her attention.

"Where are you going?" a deep voice asked and her heart beat fast as if caught doing something inapproriate.

Mei turn around and saw Tao looking at her suspiciously, "I uh…uhm…I am going outside for fresh air?"

Tao's eyebrows creased together, "Don't lie…you are making designs for that contest right?"

Mei sigh, "you know and yet you asked…will you tell mother?"

"I will let this pass for now, just go back before dinner" Tao answered and turned around going towards the living room.

Huh, he covered for me? I guess he isn't that bad after all, Mei thought and shrug as she left the house.

She walked around town and asked Ling whether her cousin is already there, Ling replied she could go around town to kill time. It was already lunchtime when Ling texted her that her cousin is now at Mcronalds waiting for her. Mei was so excited she ran fast. Suddenly the darkened clouds released big amounts of rain which made people around ran fast for shelter. Oh no!! why now? She quickly ran and find the nearest shade.

"I guess I need to wait for the rain to pour less…"Mei muttered and waited for 15 minutes.

But when she noticed the rain isnt going out anytime now, she decided to head out to Mcronalds even if she will get wet. Heavy rain continued on pouring and when she crossed the road just adjacent the restaurant, a white light suddenly passed her rear sight. She turned towards her right and then her vision blackened.
