16 "What we do best."

"We do what we do best." Indigo Stepped out from the back, and in a circle, everyone looked at each other when she said, "We fight."

"Charles." The lady she had met earlier calls, hands on her hips when she talks to them, "Lockdown." She orders pointing to the brown-haired, freckled man in the back.

"On it." Charles nodded, to which Indigo called another name," Timothee you're with him, make sure to keep everyone in their rooms."

"Arveion—" She gave him a simple nod, "The rest of you, you're with me." Indigo then turned to face Amber," Arsan please keep her safe until we are ready for her."

"Miss Lane—" Arsan smiled down at her, offering his hands and pulling her to stand," Let's go take a look at your mother." He then swung her over his shoulder, Amber following behind him, cautious of her mother's safety.

"The swords." One of the men placed an arm full of swords onto the table, everyone gathering to draw their swords.

Arveion then turned to face the door, Indigo giving him her nod, a slight smile on both of their faces, "Ready!" He shouts, fiddling with his sword, an amused smug on his face, waiting until the banging of the heavy door came to a stop.

The demons on the outside were wild as they impatiently waited for the Ogre to break open the door. And with one last fist, the stability of the door came tumbling down.

"Forward!" Arveion charged first, slicing the necks of any demon who dared to test his blade.

Arsan led Amber up the stairs into a dark room, throwing objects from the table so that he could rest her mother before turning on the light.

The light flickered on to show the small room including dusty bookshelves, an office chair, and old device equipment packed up into a corner. It was an old-looking library, furniture of unique style, and a few plants.

Arsan searched the drawers of the table, filling his hands with all sorts of medicines and checking the labels.

"She'll be okay—" He murmured, analyzing a container of tablets," She only needs something to ease the pain now, and cleaning of the cut. I'm afraid my medicine won't be able to fully cure her as she has been out for too long, I'll only be able to hold up for a while, the following is not up to me."

"That's alright with me, just please help her."

Arsan turned to a shelf of books, passing his fingers swiftly over each of them,  he gave her a once over, "I'll need your help." He says, "Expose her cut with the scissors on the table and gently clean it with the cotton swabs, not before giving her the red tablets."

Amber frowned at her mother's current stage as she cut her jersey, exposing the cut as he said but covering her mouth once she saw the wound—blue-black and swelling with dried dark red blood in a  gooey constituency.

Her hands trembled when she threw the bottle of hydrochloric peroxide on the gauze and winced when it touched, feeling her pain.

"Hey, a-am I doing this right?" Amber continued to dab the cloth against the wound, cleaning out all further infections, and then she wondered, "Why are you looking at books right now? My mother's in serious condition here"

"Focus Miss Lane." He opened another book but closed it again, gently placing it back on the shelves, continuing his search, "Your mother has been poisoned. This is the only way we'll be able to help her." He finally found the book he was looking for, dusting its stem before removing it from the shelf and holding it for her.

The angels were having a blood bath, the demons had no chance against them. Indigo fends off the demon's grasp, ducking under its hands and giving it a snap kick causing the demon to fall onto its face, Indigo finishing it off by thrusting her sword into its back.

Focus on that squirming demon, she didn't see when one came up behind her, snaking his hand around her waist, he smelled her hair. The demon had long black hair, his nails sharp and black with blued under eyes.

He had a stronghold on her, crushing her body like a snake crushes its prey, "Hey beautiful." He snuggled his nose into the crook of her neck before his jaw snapped opened to an inhuman extent sticking his long slimy tongue out onto her neck, "Mhm I can almost taste it—"

Before the creature could finish, Arveion thrashed his hair backward, running his sword along his throat but covered his bleeding and held in a spot to which Indigo smiled at him, kicking the demon in his private area, before Arveion could let it bleed out.

"Motherfucker." She used her sleeve to wipe her neck and turned to Arveion, her face serious, "I didn't need your help by the way."

He elbowed another creature that came at— its head cocked back at the force, blood splattering along the floor.

He smirked at her, "Oh there's plenty of more to go, don't be afraid to holler my name darling if you can't keep up."

Indigo scoffed with her hands on her waist, "We'll see about that."

The two challenged each other, finding joy in what they were doing. Which in other chases was pretty fucked up.

"Most kills wins?" She  smiled, grabbing a creature by its hands and bending its bone in a cringe-worthy snap before crushing its skull with her boots," Already one ahead of yuh."

"Oh yeah?" Arveion moved stealthy on his feet, side-stepping when a demon came to him, and sent a slice to its middle-section, the demon stopping to clutch its waist, blood straying from the mouth. He then kicked the demon into another which came blindly running, plunging his sword into both before he withdrew in speed.

"Double." He smirks and Indigo rolls her eyes. Arveion looked around the night, these demons were easily and he wondered what made sense on them even trying to win just to lose their lives. Almost all of them were already out, meaning that they, the angels, won. Why did they not call it off if only to lose in the end?
