It was currently a few hours before sunset, and I was walking through a maze of buildings situated near the city square.
I was now headed further north from the noodles shop, hands in my pockets, following a real-time floating screen that was hovering beside me.
In other people's eyes, I probably looked like a normal man who knew where he needed to go, but I was just thinking while absent-mindedly walking.
'I really am lucky that I entered this world very near to Axus City since it helps me get what I need much quicker.'
In the game, Axus City was known as the metropolis of the world, where one could easily find new quests and buy items.
And today, I had a plan in mind to buy a very overpowered item from an auction.
Now, this auction did not start until after dusk, so I had some time to spare, and thus, I decided to speed up a few of my other plans.
[You have reached your destination.]
'Since when did you become a GPS?' I joked.
[Shut up.]
I had reached the front of the Guild centre that supposedly gives out military training for G-ranked civilians.
The front of the guild seemed to be a large open doorway, kind of like the entrance of a museum.
At the sides of the gateway, two beautiful, welcoming women stood in professional black suits, gesturing me to come in.
Immediately, I was greeted by an old-looking butler.
"Welcome to the Lotus Guild, what can we do for you here?"
"Hello, I would like to request a private military training programme, so that I can help out for the Demon Invasion."
"That programme is only available for unawakened civilians, and we would need to trial you to see if you are unawakened."
I had expected this to happen.
"Let me speak to your manager."
And my solution was to go full 'Karen-style'.
"Uhhmm... is there a problem regarding why you cannot complete the trial."
"Yes, there is. How do you expect to be testing normal civilians to train, BEFORE THEY HAVE EVEN TRAINED YET!?"
I had emphasised the last part to intimidate the man.
I had also purposely started shouting, and this was to draw attention to us, increasing the chances of me being able to meet the director of the guild.
I started to feel a tinge of guilt for the man, having to deal with people like me, but then again, this was quite fun.
"Uhh... Sir... I request you to lower your voice here..."
In this world, even though the man was awakened and could easily kill me, the man couldn't really do anything to suppress me under the law. And unless I started to harm him, I would be completely fine.
"LOWER MY VOICE!? ARE YOU TRYING TO SUPPRESS MEE!!??"
'I am deeply sorry, old man, I really am.'
"HOW DARE YOU!? LET ME SPEAK TO YOUR DIRECTOR THIS INSTANT!"
I had somehow turned the focus of my anger from having to take a trial, to the denial of my rights. This is too easy.
The butler-looking man's face had started to show obvious signs of worry, and he began to try to appease me.
"...The best I can do is keep you waiting for the director to come down... How is that?"
"I WANT TO SEE HIM THIS INSTAN-"
Before I could finish my words, I started to feel a heavy pressure on my chest from gravity, pushing me down onto my knees.
'Khhukk'
Unable to resist, this pressure started to press my mind as well as my body, stopping me from talking.
I could no longer move, and my body was quivering.
But this was all within my calculations.
"Young man, if you have anything to say, please come to my office."
A cold voice rang out clearly within the lobby, intimidating any sane person who understood power. However, inside, I was smiling at my accomplishment.
'I knew he would come down soon enough.'
Not more than a second later, the heavy pressure dissipated and left my body sweating tremendously.
I was still an 'F-' awakener, and there was no way I could stand the pressure of an 'S' ranker guild master yet.
However, it turned out that this proved to benefit me. As if I had been stronger, they would have been able to tell I was awakened.
Yes, I was going espionage.
I needed to hide the fact I was awakened so that I could get free training lessons, and so far, so good.
My aim was to stall the awakener trial for at least a week, and you will see why later.
Anyway, I began to follow the 'S' rank guild director to his office, pretending to keep my head down and avoid unnecessary trouble.
******
"Now, Vincent Dracyian, why did you come to my guild, just to cause a ruckus?"
The guild master was a man who looked to be in his 50s, but the truth was far from that.
All awakeners gain a longer lifespan the more they rank up, and their age is no longer proportional to their looks.
If I had to estimate, I would say that he is around 170 years old, and was very well experienced in life.
"I am sorry sir, but all I wanted was to take the awakeners' trial so that I could participate in the military training program."
"I see, so you still haven't awakened?"
"No."
"Hmmm, and what was the issue?"
"The man told me that I could only take the trial after a week. I had gotten a bit angry at how I couldn't take it now. But on second thought, I think I will be able to wait a bit longer..."
I was bullshitting.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, once again, I am sorry if I have bothered you."
"Hmm... No, no. In fact, I am sorry that you have to experience that, so, we will compensate you for a special favour."
"Oh?"
"Yes, here at Lotus Guild, we aim to take special care of normal civilians. So, I will personally be helping you to train after the trial." the guild master said proudly.
'No way. This is much better than I thought.'
I was shocked at how such an opportunity had fallen into my hands. This definitely will benefit me, however, I could almost see what he is planning.
I was still a 'Dracyian', even if everyone thought I was unawakened.
He most likely wanted to gain favour with my family, and probably ask for funding under his guild.
However, I couldn't care less.
I just needed to be trained by him before the Academy Selection Competition, and I would be set!
"Sure!"
And with that, I had successfully acquired a teacher.
Sorry for the slightly late chapter.
I was a bit busy, and it took a bit longer to write this chapter.
Thank you guys so much for reading a book by a small author like me, and it really helps if you add this book to your library!
