Chapter 29

"You know how to cook!" boss Dai exclaimed in shock as she watched Cardan.

"Of course I do boss"Cardan responded as if offended at the fact that she didn't have any faith in him. He had taken cooking lessons with Daniel who wanted to start his own restaurant. Who would have thought the lessons he found taxing would actually help him in the long run.

"This shallow old lady asks forgiveness, let me have a taste" boss Dai said as she used her spoon to taste the vegetable soup he made. Her eyes widened in shock at how good it was. She wanted more.

"Boss Dai I'm still cooking you have to wait until I'm done." Cardan said as Easton scoffed while he washed the dishes with the help of Remy. Easton was supposed to teach Cardan how to cook but his talent shocked everyone including him. And since he has nothing to do his job is to now do the dishes.

A contrast to Remy's eyes which were filled with nothing but praise "Card-dan c-can I-I have a taste too?" he asked shyly as his cheeks turned red.

"You can when I'm done for now just continue on washing the dishes" Cardan responded ignoring Easton's scoff.

"You indeed won't regret it Remy, it's like eating the famous Korean chef's food what was his name again...ahh Rory Choi" boss Dai snapped her fingers as soon as she remembered who the person was.

Cardan flinched slightly as he remembered what the chef had called his cooking 'A failed attempt at cooking no wonder your life is nothing but a joke. How disgraceful, are you even human...' and so much more and the only reason Rory was able to get away with it was because he was his grandmother's Ingrede from Europe's prized student and it's not like his critics didn't make him improve his cooking.

"Hahahahah..." Cardan couldn't help but laugh nervously.

"Mom aren't you supposed to be somewhere" Easton suddenly said after everyone was quiet.

Looking at the time immediately boss Dai slapped her forehead "Damn, I have to go get the order, Cardan store some soup for me in the container" before he could say anything she had already rushed out.

Cardan's focus returned to the cooking. As soon as he was down with the soup he put it out for order and left a little for boss Dai and Remy in a container.

He spent most of his time cooking and perfecting a few dishes and those he thought were good he let the customers try it out.

"Peking Roasted Duck table 10!" Cardan exclaimed as he put the plate on the counter so that either Remy, Easton or one of the waiters gave out the order. The perks of having a large tent means there is more room for customers and ever since boss Dai got sponsored to cater the food at the sports festival many people had been coming to try out her food and see if she really deserves it. She did and with Cardan as a new addition it made her restaurant a bit famous with regular customers although he had to work for fewer hours due to his age.

"Ta-table 15 kun-g pao chi-cken!" Remy exclaimed sweat already dripping from his forehead but nevertheless he seemed excited to help.

Putting the completed dish on the counter Cardan repeated the number. Wiping his own sweat away he moved away from cooking as his shift ended for today.

"I thought I'd find you here" Zade said in a monotone voice as he leaned against the counter. His face still a bit injured.

A grin made its way to Cardan's face "What brings you here. You never visit my work" Cardan replied.

Rolling his eyes Zade nodded outside "Let's go I think it's time I told you about my somewhat crooked and boring history"

Cardan's eyes widened in interest. What must have led him to decide to tell me this, was it because he finally trusted me or he felt bad. Either way Cardan was not about to miss this opportunity. Wiping his hands with a cloth he said.

"Well lead the way"

"I'm already regretting this" Zaden said as Cardan followed him a far distance from the restaurant.
