Keith pulled into the florist’s parking lot leaving the Miata behind a concrete barrier near the entrance to soothe Bobby’s nerves.
Bobby got out of the Miata and headed to the florist’s door. He took out his credit card and paid for one spray of roses and one of lilies.
“Mom loved lilies and Dad liked roses. What are you getting?”
“Dad was allergic to flowers, but Mom liked tulips.” Keith asked the florist, “Do you have any tulips?”
“Tulips don’t last long,” the florist informed him. “You may want to look at something else.”
“I want tulips. Mom loved them because theirs was a fleeting beauty.” The florist shrugged and made up the bouquets.
