Chapter 26: Men are Like Hornets

Eleanor’s POV.

“You’re doing extraordinarily well,” Warner praises me, smiling at another one of his adoring fans.

I would call them supporters. But these women are more than that. They’re obsessive over him, practically drooling in his wake. I’d lost count of the number of dirty looks I’d received when his attention had been pulled away from me.

If I was actually interested in pursuing this relationship, I would have been sincerely impacted by it. But I found it entertaining. It was the only thing keeping me interested in the evening, keeping me from hunting down Paul and begging for him to take me home.

“You’re the one who’s doing well,” I compliment him back. It’s what he was really fishing for. He really could care less about me.

“I had thought that I wanted to be a lawyer my entire life. Thought that was what I was made for. But I was designed for this. To be in politics,” Warner says as he shook the hand of a man with greased-back hair.
