The World at the Bottom of the Abyss

Paul slowly opened his eyes. The sunlight in his eyes hurt him at first, but when he got used to it, he slowly stood up and looked around. At first he hesitated when he saw that he was surrounded by trees. Then the headache started to hurt and he leaned against a tree and sat on the ground.

He started to remember what had happened last time. Valer's disgusting face, his fall into the Abyss, hearing voices, a talking sword, the sword plunging into his own heart, the sword's maniacal laughter...

He put his hand to the side of his heart, but he didn't feel any wound or pain.

"Was it a dream?" he couldn't help thinking. If it was a dream, it would have been very good. He could go back to his family and spend time with them. He started to look for a way out of the forest, but then he heard that disturbing voice.

"Hey brat, do you have to be so active as soon as you wake up?"

"You!" Paul went crazy when he heard the sound of the sword. A while ago he had stabbed himself with the sword and it was not a good experience.

"Yes, me! I made you stronger and you yell at me? Ungrateful!"

After the sword's words, Paul checked his body. He had indeed become very strong physically and his mana... Oh my God! His previous mana was nothing compared to his current mana. If before it was like a drop of water, now it was like a rushing river.

There was also a change in its core. It was much more dense and powerful than before, but it still hadn't risen from its initial level! On the plus side, it now spread the mana throughout Paul's body without needing Paul's control.

"That's probably why I've improved in the physical sense."

Paul regained his composure and looked around. Not seeing the sword, he spoke directly.

"What did you do to me and how did you do it?"

"Good questions." Again the answer echoed in his mind.

"I didn't do much, actually. I just gave you the energy you needed, and you did the rest."

Paul replied in a slightly confused voice. "I didn't do anything."

"Oh, you sure did, young man. Something very important. I think you can feel your core changing."

"Yes."

"You created this core with the stubbornness of your own self and the strength of your constitution. It is not the mana core of a human being."

Paul got a strange look on his face. "What do you mean?"

"When I impaled your heart, I sent the mana of the 4 elements into your core and your core absorbed all of them, a special core known as the saint mana core. But after I did that, your nucleus tried to draw energy from me and so I channeled divine light energy into it and it absorbed it all. It absorbed the Light element known as the Will of Heaven as well as the elements of flame, earth, wind and water, so I did a little experiment on it and sent a small amount of evil energy, but as soon as it started to absorb it, it drained all the energy out of me and destroyed the mana core."

Paul fearfully checked his mana core but found nothing wrong. "My mana core is quite intact."

Paul was startled by the sound of the sword laughing, but continued to listen. "As I said, your human mana core was destroyed, but the 6 elements came together to create a balance and form an Abyssinian core. Of course, some elements are still more dominant."

Paul waited for a while to digest what he had just heard. Then he spoke.

"So you are telling me that my nucleus is an Abyssinian nucleus. And what is this Evil God? Am I an Evil God if I have your core?"

"Oh, there is a big difference between you and an Evil God, son. An Evil God is one who stands above the gods and demons, who can destroy heaven and hell with a wave of his hands. You are only a potential Evil God. If you are strong enough, you can reach the level of an Evil God, but no one who has walked the path of the Evil God since the first Evil God has been called by that name."

"How many people have tried to become an Abyssinian since the first Evil God?"

"Oh, there were millions who tried. But there were only six people with potential. In their time, they took the title of Black Mage."

"Black magician... Does that make me the 7th Black Mage?"

"Exactly. You are the 7th Generation Black Mage and out of the 7 Generations, you have the most potential to reach the level of Evil God."

When Saber finished, Paul didn't speak for a long time and just waited. He was thinking about what he had heard and what he had to do. Then, after looking around a bit, it came to him.

"By the way, where exactly am I?"

"Ah, I was waiting for you to ask that. You are in the Devil's Habitat at the bottom of the Abyss, the first testing ground where all 6 of your predecessors took the test."

"What the hell is the Devil's Habitat?"

"The Demon Habitat is a special place where only evil creatures live. And you can use the monsters inside to strengthen yourself."

Paul was a little surprised. "How do I use monsters?"

"The Habitat core can absorb all forms of energy. Including monster energy. You just have to kill it and get the core. Who knows, you might even get a core with a blood trail!"

"Blood trail?"

"Traces that carry the characteristics of monsters. If you absorb one of those cores, you can possess the monster's abilities, not to mention its memories and even its limbs."

"I don't want horns, if possible."

"You'll only get limbs as abilities, you idiot. What's wrong with horns anyway?"

"I don't want to argue with you. One more thing, how do I get back upstairs?"

"Ah, if you want to go back up, you first need to get strong enough and master the use of that power. The Abyss and the Human timeline are not the same, so don't worry."

Paul put his hands to his eyes and thought about what they had just discussed. The Abyss core, the blood trail, the testing ground, the power. Power was the key to everything, after all. He stood up immediately. He didn't care about his soiled white shirt and pants and started walking in a random direction.

"Hey, where are you going?"

"You said I needed to get stronger and that I had a good chance here. Instead of waiting for my luck to come to me, I'll go to it. It's faster."

"Well, do what you want, but you won't last a few days with that mentality."

Paul spoke in a mocking voice. "I'm not going to trust something I don't know where it is or even what it is."

"Insolent brat! I've outlived you by hundreds of thousands of years, I'm Spadia the Sword Demon, 5th Habislor of the First Evil God!"

"Ah, I knew a little from your voice, but I didn't know you were an old man. I know who you are, but I still don't know where you are."

Spadia almost had a seizure. She had just told this brat that she was a subordinate of the First Abyssinian, but this brat had just called her an old man.

Thoughts flashed through her mind instantly. "Disrespectful! Ah, but I can't help it, the First Evil God had a personality like that too, as long as he didn't get serious."

He laughed in a wheezing voice to give a little fright. "I've never left the place I'm stuck in."

Paul was startled. Pulling quickly at his collar, he looked at his chest and saw the crown-shaped tattoo there.

"What the hell is that?"

"It's a Soul Bond seal. It binds my soul to your soul."

"Oh, great. As if I don't have enough problems already, I've become one with an Evil Lord."

"You think anyone wants to be one with you, you stupid brat!? I'm just fulfilling my friend's will as the last surviving Evil Lord."

"Will?"

"The will of the first Evil God. He said to train and empower anyone with the potential to become a Habistanr, and lucky for me it was an arrogant and stupid brat like you."

Paul shook his head. "I feel like I'll never get along with you."

"We have something in common."

"Well, you disagreed with my idea. Do you have an idea?"

"Find the closest and highest ground you can, scan the area. Then find a shelter."

Paul accepted the idea. He looked around and saw a very tall mountain ahead. He got a little closer to the mountain and started to climb it, but then he saw a ladder. It was carved directly into the mountain.

"Hey old man, what's this?"

"Who's the old man? And what are you talking about- Ah, this is the Third Generation's lair. He was a laid-back guy. It's probably still in good shape inside. You were lucky to find it so early."

Paul smiled and hurried up the stairs. After a while he came out into a large room.

In the corner of the room was a bed covered in yellow fur and next to it a closet. Apart from that, the rest of the room was empty and there were cuts and traces of magic. Probably the Third Generation worked here.

Paul slowly walked over to the bed and opened the closet. There were 3 black clothes gathering dust and several grape-sized fruits of different colors. Paul immediately took off his white shirt and pants, put on one of these black clothes and pocketed the fruit.

Spadia said in a slightly angry voice. "You even exploit the generations before you."

"Did you say something? I can't hear very well."

"Ah, you forgot to look around, you idiot. There should be a staircase to the top of the mountain behind the closet. Go up there and examine it."

Paul didn't object this time because he, too, felt he had to get to the top of the mountain. He turned the locker and climbed the stairs to the top of the mountain.

He looked around and gasped for a moment at the view. The mountain he was on was in the middle of a forested area and the forest was dense in some places but in others there were hardly any trees. There were some monsters here and there and even these scared Paul a little bit, but what really scared Paul were the 6 areas around the wooded area.

Each of these 6 areas represented one of the 6 elements and 4 of them had a tower in the center. The other two were obscured by the fog at the entrance. Paul didn't know what was in the towers, but the aura alone was enough to make him tremble with fear. Spadia, sensing the fear in Paul's heart, began to chuckle.
