Black Blood Mage

Stealing mushrooms and drinking urine is the only way many in the underground and Demon-controlled city of Adonia know how to live. In such a world, how could anyone–much less a young boy no older than five-years-old–survive?

War Part 5

Emrys

The feeling I got from killing my first Demon with my own hands was, to say the least, exhilarating. And I wanted more.

It was something that made me feel more alive than ever before, something that I couldn't let go of.

As I was stuck in a daze reveling in my first kill, a group of Demons rushed towards me. This was my chance.

All five of them were wielding spears, making it difficult for me to get close and utilize my small size to win the battle. Theoretically.

The first one lunged in too quickly, allowing me to push the spearhead into the ground with my spear, pivoting off of it and using the other end of the staff to smash through their helmet and take out their left eye.

Two more came in to try and assist their comrade, to avail. By the time they had reached me, I used the end of the staff that was lodged in the Demon's skull to push myself into the air,

Unfortunately, this only put me in a position to be attacked more easily by the long-reaching spears.

The four remaining Demons thrusted their spears upwards towards my falling body, one grazing my stomach, one piercing my right arm, and two others barely missing my vitals.

The pain was… tolerable, for now. I bent my right arm, breaking the spear in half before I landed on the ground. I was now surrounded and the rush from the last kill was now wearing off.

I took advantage of the Demon whose spear was broken, sending a jab into their chest, knocking them onto the ground.

Before the other Demons could get close, I ran across the body of the Demon I had just knocked down, kicking their body into the legs of the others.

All but one of them was knocked onto the ground, allowing me to finish them off quickly. The final one was seemingly inexperienced, allowing me to disarm them and kill them by piercing their neck with my staff.

Looking around, it seems I wouldn't be interrupted this time.

I closed my eyes, feeling the "Killing High" as I'll call it, filling my body starting from my brain. If I didn't focus, the strange feeling would dissipate through my skin.

However, if I did focus, I could feel myself getting stronger physically, mentally, and… some other power that I'll have to look into next time I get a break.

BOOOOM

The Beastmen were pushing back the Demons, so I decided to go towards the sound of the explosion–back towards the city.
