She knew that even if she did lie, there was no way that she could hide her expression.

"We're not together." She said with a regrettable smile.

"Not for long." The man said. "I can tell."

"I'm not so sure about that." She told him with all honesty.

"If you find love in your lifetime, I would suggest that you hold on to it with all you have and never let it go." He said. "I wouldn't know much. I am just an old man." He added, smiling as he drove faster as she had asked him to.

Ella smiled as she watched his gaze turn to a picture on the dashboard of his car.

"Is that your wife?" she asked him.

That had to be her, Ella said inwardly. Maybe it was the way he fondly looked at the picture. She could see his face from the mirror as he faced the road once again.

"She passed two years ago." The man said, without a hint of sadness on his face.

Was he not sad that the love of his life was no longer with him?
