Chapter 10 Let’s Make A Bet!

The warmth in the living room suddenly replaced with an eerie atmosphere. Ileana was boring holes in the ground with her eyes. She didn’t dare to turn her head, anticipating the fire breathing dragons to get unchained by the man behind her.

After a long pause, a stern and cold voice rang in her ears, “Follow me upstairs!”

Those were three words enough to send chills down her spine.

Having no choice she followed behind him towards the bedroom. With long legs he ascended swiftly since he was irritated to the core.

Ileana with meek footsteps entered the room by then Liam was already unbuttoning his suit jacket.

He angrily took it off and tossed it on the bed.

Ileana glanced in his direction when he suddenly turned around to face her.

His gazes were like molten lava erupting without mercy.

“Are you that curious about me and my personal matters?”

“Huh…” Ileana took a step back with sudden questioning.

She composed herself and said truthfully, “Well… a little bit, indeed.”

“Why is that so?” he asked coldly.

Liam raised his left eyebrow and asked intimidatingly, “Don’t tell me that you had fallen in love with me, do you?”

“No!” She refused flatly without batting an eye.

Liam snorted and jeered further, “Well that’s impressive. But let me warn you beforehand…”

She looked in his direction intently but he turned around and his voice was serious.

“Being in love with me is like following the footsteps of a demon. If by all means, you’re ready to enpass the hell fury then go ahead and taste your own medicine.”

Hearing his words, Ileana’s heart felt a gush of pain but she just put it at the back of her mind.

“Well as a normal human, being curious doesn’t mean that I harbor feelings for you. Nobody could predict future Mr. Liam! What if the table turns, and you fall in love with me before I do…”

Her words triggered Liam’s sensory nerves somehow but he still mocked her.

“What did you say? Me, Liam Collins falling in love with you… Hahahahaha…”

Liam laughed hysterically as if he heard the most ridiculous joke of the year.

Ileana pursed her lips.

Seeing his behavior she wanted to leave but the laughter died down suddenly.

Liam spoke with a seriousness, “I know since beginning you have been confident Miss Tyler… But, aren’t you overestimating yourself? What do you think of yourself? An angel or what?”

Ileana didn’t lose her calm and answered usually, “Look Mr. Liam Collins… First of all, I’m no angel. What and who gave you the idea that a demon should only love an angel? It’s very much possible for a demon to fall in love with another demon.”

Albeit her facial looks were sweet like an angel, but she was definitely not someone with angelic blood running through her veins.

A tinge of sudden surprise could be seen in Liam’s eyes. He was about to utter something but then only her phone rang. She looked down, the number flashing on the screen suddenly froze her for a moment.

Without giving any chance to Liam she slithered back to her secret room.

At the last ring she picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Why haven’t you visited us today, Ileana? Your dad and I have been anticipating your visit!”

Didem’s voice was gleeful, acting all coy over the other end. Which in reality was filled with mockery and contempt.

Ileana’s heart, though being numb, still sank to her stomach.

Her expression was painful, but she spoke solemnly.

“The wedding happened haywire so I didn’t have the time to apply for leave. Don’t worry I’ll visit soon.”

“Ah… I see! Well you’ll be coming with Liam later right? You will be visiting us in the future right, won’t you?”

Didem rubbed salt on her wounds deliberately. As she knew that Ileana wouldn’t be in peace with Liam definitely. So she purposefully made it difficult for Ileana.

“Of course! Liam will accompany me this week.”

Ileana emphasized on the fact that she will go with Liam to visit them.

As in the past she had been trampled over by them a lot. She wanted Didem to taste her own medicine this time and won’t be a pushover anymore.

She breathed an exasperated sigh after disconnecting the call. Finally opening the door she went out of her room.

Out of the blue she daringly announced, “Let’s make a bet!”

Liam was standing by the window leisurely looking at the sky. Suddenly her voice rang in his ears.

With a bewildered expression he asked, “Bet?”

Ileana nodded her head and spoke, “You told me, you don’t love women?”

“Yes, I don’t,” he answered with a poker face.

“As previously said, you don't have any feelings for them too, right?” Ileana asked with seriousness.

“Ummm… So what?” Liam said with slight knitted brows.

“Alright… Let’s make a wager on this,” She approached in his direction.

Liam glanced at her confident steps towards him.

Ileana proposed, “Let’s wager then whether I can win your affection or not?”

“Ahahaha… are you going to strip yourself and seduce me?” Liam snickered at her.

“Well… I’m not going to stoop that low.”

Ileana though a little displeased but maintained her calm face.

“HUH… So what are you going to do?”

“Well don’t worry… I will just dare you, Mr. Liam Collins.”

He raised his left eye-brow and questioned, “What guarantees that you will win?”

“I trust myself that I’ll win.”

She said solemnly without even flinching a bit.

Her confidence amused Liam as he folded his hands across his chest.

“What an interesting woman!” He thought in his mind, and said, “What and who gave you that confidence?”

She pursed her lips and remained silent.

Seeing her no reaction he remarked, “Then deal! But bear in mind there will be a punishment clause and you have to abide by it. If you lose…” Liam mused.

By now, Ileana had understood his threatening theory already, without wasting a bit she replied.

A curt answer was thrown his way, “I’ll leave… If I lose.”

She somehow figured what was going in his mind at that instance.

“Hmmm…” He hummed and asked, “What do you want from me, if you win?”

Liam knew Ileana's strategy too that she won’t make a deal without any purpose. There must be some grave reasoning behind it. So he just wanted to test the waters.

After thinking for a while, she finally spoke, “Well… If I win then…Within this week YOU will be visiting my family.”
