Pretender

"Draven!!" Melanie kept on saying repeatedly until he got to where he was sitting,  his mouth was wide open, and it seemed he was lost in thought.

"Draven" she touched him lightly, making him flinch. He glanced at her for a few seconds, like he was searching for something on her face.

"What's it? Where is Melissa?" He finally muttered, making an attempt to stand up.he adjusted his shirt before facing her back, looking in between the worried face of the girl standing before him. She inhaled, before returning her own answer.

"We need to get back to the mansion immediately, Melissa is not herself '' she replied, vaguely. His face lit up at the sound of her name. He rubbed his hand through his blonde hair in frustration. This is one of the reasons she asked her to stay behind until she got hold of herself, he thought to himself, while looking at the blank space.

"So, where is she?"

"At the front of the ward, I asked her to wait for me to get you"

"You should have called, you can't just leave her alone when you know she is not in her right sense!" He piqued, trying to restrain  the rage from showing in his voice, which was unsuccessful.

Melanie opened her mouth to say something, but closed it back. She turned towards the hallway in silence without saying anything while Draven followed. He keeps feeling remorse about how he just behaved towards her, she is just a friend that's trying to help her friends. Why is he taking it personal as if she was someone she has known for a very long time. He kept assuring himself that she would be fine as they kept on walking..

"Melissa!!" Melanie screamed all of a sudden, making Draven raise his head, his body became numb almost immediately at the sight of Melissa's body, lying on the cold linoleum, motionless. He raced past Melanie at a very high speed, towards her body within a few seconds.

"Melissa!" He kept on calling her name, he quickly lumbered his body unto his broad arms.

"Go get a nurse, and tell them someone just collapsed" his lips move faster, glaring at Melanie, who is already running towards the reception. He carried her in a bride style, and walked slowly to the reception. He dare not make the mistake of her mum knowing that her daughter just fainted.

"Melissa!" He kept on saying, hoping she would reply to him, but got no response.  He kept on cursing himself, at the thought of her getting hurt, if only he had forced her to stay behind. None of this would have happened. Two nurses, and Melanie are walking back to him, in which one of the nurses is pushing a stretcher towards him.

"Here '' one of the nurses commanded, he gently placed her fragile body on the soft leather bed. The other nurse brought out her Stethoscope, and placed it on her chest to check her heart beat. During all this, both Draven and Melanie just stood adjacent to the nurse, looking at them without saying a single word, everything was silent, except for the bubbling sound of the water that was coming from the nearest restroom.

"I'm sorry how I reacted earlier"  Draven's gloomy tone made her to shift her attention to him. She glared at him for some seconds, contemplating whether he was truly sorry or not. His expression was bleak, making it hard to know what he might be thinking as at that present time. Anyway, his voice says otherwise, maybe he is really sorry as he claimed.

"It's fine, and you are right, if I had called instead of searching for you, none of this would have happened" she replied, giving her an assuring smile before diverting back her attention to the two nurses. Draven was somehow surprised at how composed she replied to him, he never expected her to be this polite, maybe we're actually getting along, he muttered silently to himself.

"She's fine," the nurse that checked Melissa's motionless body announced, while placing her stethoscope back into her jacket pocket.

"But, she......

Melissa's sudden coughs interrupt Melanie from completing her statement, both of them move abruptly to her side, looking concerned. Draven supported her as she made an attempt to raise her head  up.

" Are you okay?" he stuttered, given her an intense look. She only nodded her head to assure them that she is fine. Draven inhaled deeply to calm down his nerves, he was the only one that could explain the joy he feels right now. He pulled her into a hug almost immediately.

"You can't do that, I think she will need to rest, she is stressed already. So, I will advise you to leave now"  one of the nurses advised, he quickly released her. Draven and Melanie thank the nurse for helping them. Draven helped her down from the stretcher before wrapping his hand around her waist, in support. Melanie followed the nurse back to the ward, before rushing back to them. Melissa just kept mute without saying anything, all Draven's attempts to make her talk as they walked to the hospital entrance proved to be fiasco. With Melanie walking behind them without saying anything. They evacuate the building, now moving to the park lot. Melanie brought out her phone and nearly gasp. '9:30pm " she grumbled in surprise.

"When did Bobby leave?" She asked, as she increased her pace to reach their side. She also get hold of Melissa's hand and kept on patting it as they moved closer to Bobby's car.

"Not long, " he replied.

She opened her mouth to reply but something caught her attention, making her close it back . she was staring at the Volvo that Draven drove to the hospital with her in surprise.

"But, why is his car still here?"
