Chapter 4

Kim "Ethan" Yong-saeng

I opened my eyes and I found myself in a medical room. I tried to move my right hand, but Alpha Andrés was tightly holding my right hand.

He was also slightly snoring and his head was laying on the side of the bed. I try to slowly move my hand away as I try not to wake him up. I was not successful. Great!

"Are you feeling better?" Ask Alpha Andrés as he opens his eyes. I notice that Alpha Andrés' chocolate brown eyes and that he still has not let go of my hand yet. I was getting more confused by the second.

"I'm okay," I responded to Alpha Andrés. I was still feeling a little bit of pain in my head and shoulder, but it wasn't as bad as before.

"Your parents came to see you when you were sleeping," Alpha Andrés said as he avoided looking into my eyes.

"They were so worried about you. I told them to get some sleep since the doctor said you were okay and to not worry," said Alpha Andrés as he avoided looking me in the eyes again. This is confusing to me.

"Thank you," I said as I was getting sleepy again. I shift my weight a little on the patient's bed and move the white cotton covers closer to me.

Alpha Andrés hasn't let go of my hand even once since the conversation. I was not sure what was happening here. Wait! It couldn't be what I was thinking, right?

'Alpha Andrés chocolate eyes' and 'him being nicer than before'! Alpha Andrés would have made a joke by now just to annoy me!

Slowly, I started to feel the tension in the room. It was getting more intense by the second.

"I don't know how to say this but...," Alpha Andrés starts to say. Still avoid my stares.

"I'm your mate," said Alpha Andrés as he moved his eyes up to meet me.

"You're joking right," I say with a small chuckle. Hoping that it was not true.

Alpha Andrés and I being mates was not a funny joke. It must be the ceremony bond that is messing with his smell. Yeah, that must be the only logical answer!

I waited and waited for Alpha Andrés to say that he was joking, but he never did. My smile drops from my face. He is serious.

"No," I said.

"No--no--n--no-no," I repeat faster and faster. I was starting to panic from the news.

This can't be happening to me!

Alpha Andrés likes females and he gets bored of them very quickly. What to say that I'm going to be different? Being mates meant that I will be with Andrés forever. What if I'm not enough?

I could be a side piece while he sleeps with other females. What if he cheats? I-- NO! That's not what I want! This is too much for me to handle. Waves of pain were coming back stronger than before.

My heartbeat is going faster and faster the more I think. Suddenly, a doctor and a nurse runs into the room to try to calm me down. My mouth is moving, but I can't hear anything. I see a nurse give me something on my IV drip and I start to slowly get sleeper.

When I wake up again the doctor and nurse are gone. Alpha Andrés was gone too.

I notice that Mia and Rose are whispering about something. Both, Mia and Rose, were former girlfriends of Alpha Andrés. Also, they were the only werewolves from this pack that Alpha Andrés dated.

Mia, Rose, and I became friends over time for our love of complaining about Alpha Andrés as we ate ice cream.

"--he did what?" I hear Mia ask Rose.

"Shh. Can't you see Ethan is sleeping you're going to wake him up," said Rose quickly trying to hush Mia.

"He...did... what?" Repeats Mia in a quieter tone, but still louder enough for me to hear. They were right next to the bed, what do they think would happen?

"But- Alpha Andrés just announced Hope as his finance," said Rose to Mia in a quiet tone.

"And she is showing," said Rose. Mia gasps from the news.

"She is pregnant!" Mia responds loudly to the new gossip. I twitch from the news, but I try not to move too much since I was pretending to be asleep.

Rose and Mia continued to gossip about other things, but I stopped listening. The only two things played over and over in my mind were that 'Andrés has a finance' and 'she is pregnant.'

I got the best mate in the world! Give him a round of applause. Just great!

I roll my eyes and try to move over to my side hoping Rose and Mia would leave. I started to silently cry myself to sleep because I didn't know what to say or do about the new information. This was exactly what I was worried about being Alpha Andrés!

Later in the day, I can feel someone touch my back while calling my name. I decided not to move because my left shoulder pain was growing even more painful.

"Ethan, are you up?" said mom as she shakes my arm to try to wake me up.

"I am very sorry that I wasn't here all day yesterday with you. I didn't want to leave Liam with someone that I didn't trust," omma said.

"By the time I was here it was really late, so Alpha Andrés told us to go to sleep and come back tomorrow," said omma to me. I still haven't turned around to face mom.

"The doctor told me that you fainted from stress," she said with a worried tone.

"I'll be leaving now. When you want to talk to me remember that I'm always here for you," said mom as she slowly gets up from the chair she was sitting on.

"Wait, please stay," I told mom. I move my body to face her as she comes back and sits down again.

"Can you tell me how you first met abuji?" I ask mom. I know the story since I have heard it several times before. I just need something to keep my mind off Alpha Andrés.

"I was in Korea and mother had asked me to go to the market and buy rice for dinner. There I saw yeobo selling newspapers," said omma.

"I was crying because I had dropped the rice and I was trying to pick them all up but my tears didn't let me see what I was doing. He came over to help me and our hands touched," continues omma.

"I knew yeobo was my mate instantly," said mom with a sparkle in her eyes.

"That's why it's better to wait for your mate than be with other people that aren't your mate. There isn't any point," said mom with a stern look on her face.

"What if abuji ever cheats?" I ask mom curiously as I wait for her answer. She leans in and answers.

"Then, I will kill him and then the mistress," said mom as she waited for my reaction. Then, she started to laugh.

Mother and I always joke around like this when abuji wasn't around. I end up laughing with her and feeling much better afterward.
