Chapter 22:The lost wrist watch

"Okay Annie thanks for the advice!" replied Olivia softly

"Yeah you're welcome!" said Anita smiled

The following morning Mrs Smith had finished dressing up. She was looking for her wristwatch and she checked her drawer and she couldn't find there.

"Fred, Ben Anita?" shouted Mrs Smith all of a sudden

There was no response and she called the housekeeper Rose from the kitchen

"This is me ma!" said housekeeper bowed politely

"Go and call me Fred, Ben and Anita!" said Mrs Smith softly

"Okay ma'am!" replied housekeeper

The three kids entered the room with the housekeeper.

"Mum you call us!" said Anita surprisedly at what the summon up mean

"Miss Rose, you can go now!" said Mrs Smith gently

"Okay ma'am!" The housekeeper left the room abruptly and Mrs Smith faced her kids squarely

"Yes baby. I'm the one that called you guys!" said Mrs Smith softly

"Okay mum, what's it?" asked Ben curiously

"I'm looking for my gold wrist watch, which was given to me on my birthday. Who took it among you guys?" asked Mrs Smith gently looking over to the kids, one after the other and finally she rested her gaze on Fred.

The gold wrist watch was given to Mrs Smith by one of her admirer: Mr Charles on her birthday. Fred wasn't pleased with the relationship of Mr Charles and his mother, he was the one that gave his mother the wrist watch.

Mr Charles was a rich and gentleman, he loved Fred's mom dearly but Fred was against the relationship, he didn't wanted his mother to remarried after his father's death. Mrs Smith was suspicious of Fred stealing the wrist watch cause she knew his son was never in support of Mr Charles relationship with her.

"Mom, do you mean your gold wrist watch that Mr Charles gave you from abroad was stolen?" asked Anita eyes popping open

"Yes!" replied Mrs Smith tapping hands

"Did you wear it to the office maybe you might have misplaced it there?" asked Ben arm crossing

"I remember I was about to wear it when Cece entered here yesterday, but I've checked the sitting room it wasn't there." replied Mrs Smith, moving slowly and she turned to Fred "Did you see the wrist watch Fred?" asked Mrs Smith looking at his son squarely

"No Mom. I didn't see any wrist watch and Cece didn't mentioned anything about wrist watch to me yesterday, because after you left she entered Annie's room to greeted her and that was all." replied Fred rolling eyes

"Okay I will check all the rooms now. I can't lost the wrist watch like that. It worth thousands!" said Mrs Smith red in the face

Mrs Smith left the room for Fred's room, she checked his school bag and drawers she didn't see anything there and later she went to Ben's room and checked there likewise. Later on she went to Anita's room and checked her room.

Mrs Smith got to the room and met Olivia preparing to leave for her school. Olivia was surprised to see Mrs Smith in the room at the moment

"Good morning ma'am." said Olivia gently

"Morning Olivia. I am looking for my wrist watch, did you help me and see it?" asked Mrs Smith eyes narrowed at her

"No ma'am I didn't see any wrist watch!" replied Olivia looking surprised

Anita came inside her room and said to her mother

"Mom have you seen it?" asked Anita, moving forward

"I haven't seen it, am just asking from Olivia now!" replied Mrs Smith sweat on face

"Okay let's check the room together!" said Anita, while she was checking her drawer and Mrs Smith picked Olivia's school bag to check her bag. And suddenly she checked inside it and felt the gold wrist watch inside the bag. She quickly emptied the bag on the floor, and the gold wrist watch fell down from the bag.

"The wrist watch!" shouted Anita mouth wide open. Olivia was shocked for some seconds and wondered how the wrist watch entered her school bag

"Olivia didn't I asked you if you help me and see the wrist watch?" said Mrs Smith hands on hips

"I'm confused right now ma. I didn't see the wrist watch and I didn't know how it got there ma." replied Olivia trembling lips

"Okay, pick the wrist watch and follow me to the sitting room now!" said Mrs Smith Red in the face and she left the room hastily

"Olivia please talk to me, did you really took the wristwatch from her bag? I can beg my mom trust me!" said Anita moved closer to her

"I didn't take the wrist watch. I didn't see the wrist watch Anita. Am not lying. I'm just seeing it just now please, Anita please trust me!" replied Olivia tears in eyes

"Okay but how did it entered your bag?" asked Anita stepping back

"I don't know Anita. Am still in shocked right now." replied Olivia hanging head low and Anita left the room instantly to beg her mom.

After awhile, In the sitting room, everyone was standing both Olivia's grandma and the house keeper with the kids too waiting for Mrs Smith judgement on Olivia

"Mrs bill you know I really respected you regardless of you being my cook here. How could your granddaughter stole my gold wrist watch with everything I have done for you guys. It's stealing that I hate you all know that?" said Mrs Smith veins popping

"Madam I know you're a good woman to me and my family but my granddaughter can never steal. I know my granddaughter very well. She can't take what does not belong to her. I didn't trained her like that. Please ma'am don't be angry please madam!" replied grandma pleading

"How did the wrist watch entered the school bag. Does the wrist watch have legs and wings and entered the bag itself. I believe in my kids too. They never steal cause they have all what they wanted." said Mrs Smith contemptuously

"I didn't steal the wrist watch please try and believe me ma'am." Olivia knelt down before Mrs Smith whimpering

"Mom I believe it's not Olivia that stole the wrist watch!" said Anita suddenly. Everyone was puzzled and looked at her, mouth wide opened. While Fred was just devastated with the situation. He couldn't defend Olivia from her mom accusation against her

"Will you keep your mouth shut. I don't want to hear anything again." Mrs Smith turned to Mrs bill and said to her "I don't want to see Olivia in this house again. Understood?" declared Mrs Smith angrily ILY

"Okay madam." replied Mrs bill hanging head low

They all left the sitting room, both Anita, Fred and Ben were very upset.
