The mountain

2 weeks had passed since I had entered the Deromian wilderness. I had been spending those two weeks fighting horrors. I had on several occasions made a tactical retreat due to the strength of the horrors that I faced. The horrors I faced got more and more powerful as I got closer to the location of the world Serpents eggshells.

Every horror that I faced was unique and capable of fighting me for a long time. I had also found out how messed up the weather truly was in the Deromian wilderness.

During the day it was blistering heat that I had finally gotten used to and during the night it rained, it poured. It rained heavily and the rain was accompanied by heavy thunder and lightning along with strong winds.

When it reached morning there was no sign that it had rained. Maybe it was due to the sand that stretched across the land for as far as I could see it maybe it was due to the scorching sun evaporating all the rain.

Twice it had snowed heavily in the middle of the night while it was raining. I was surprised when the rain had just stopped and snow started falling from the sky.

I stood in front of a giant mountain. The sand that had stretched across the land stopped abruptly the moment it had reached the mountain base. The mountain had a completely different climate compared to the desert. It was cold yet there was no snow or ice or anything to cause such low temperatures. Tall palm trees with watermelons hanging from the top and low hanging acacia trees filled with strawberries on nearly every branch and even tall grass that was similar to the savanna Woodlands were everywhere.

The Deromian wilderness was truly a completely different world from mine that completely defied common sense. I had never seen a watermelon growing on a tree letting alone a palm tree. Acacia trees did not bear any fruits and yet they were filled with strawberries.

Even though I had written about everything here I was still surprised. Seeing was much better than writing.

I took advantage of everything eating the fruits that were everywhere. I even ate some fruits that I did not know existed. After filling my belly I stored some fruits and what were probably the seeds in my pouch.

I was about to head up the moment when my body instinctively moved before my brain could process just what exactly happened. In my hand was an arrow. I was surprised. How I had not seen it and yet still caught it was nothing less than amazing. My hands moved on their own and I caught several more arrows out of the air.

I found who the culprit was and returned the arrows to them. I threw the arrows at them and they showcased their athleticism and flexibility by dodging all the arrows with ease.

I charged at them and tried catching the masked person by the throat but they jumped on my arm and used it as a launching pad. While in the air they aimed their bow and arrow at me. A tentacle sprouted out of my forearm and went after my assailant.

The tentacle was slimmer than it used to be but it made up for it with the speed it moved at. 2 weeks of being in the wild fighting for my life led to an increase in my combat abilities and sharper and keener senses.

The assailant twisted their body mid air and dodged the tentacle. The assailant was agile as a monkey and no matter how I moved my tentacle they would dodge.

A second tentacle grew from my already existing tentacle and lashed out. It caught the assailant off gaurd and I wrapped my tentacle around them and slammed them to the ground. An powerful green electric spark filled the air along with the sound of screaming from assailant.

Their body went limp and I let go of them. Their body fell to the floor. I removed the mask of my assailant to check who it was that had attacked me. A cute girl with long curly brunette hair. Her face was beautiful and she had several curves but I did not focus on them too much.

I opened the pouch and as soon as I did the lion jumped out. I grabbed him by the tail and slammed him into the ground before tossing him back into the pouch. He just never learnt. No matter how many times he tried to escape.

I tossed the unconscious girl inside the pouch. The sound of cracking and snapping bones put my mind at ease. I had no idea who she was or why she attacked me? But at least I didn't have to worry about her attacking me in my sleep had she escaped.

I climbed up the mountain easily defeating the horrors that tried attacking me. Giant tarantulas, birds with metal like feathers and tigers that roared louder than thunder, all of them where no problems to me. The only monster that I found trouble defeating where the gargantuan praying mantis. They were fast, precise, agile and deadly.

Having fought many of them my combat skills and intuitiveness had increased. The higher up the mountain I went the lower my advantage got. It was colder, there was less oxygen and most of all the monsters here were on a completely different level.

I struggled with the monsters but in the end I managed to pull through. Behind me the huge amount of corpses that littered the ground was unbelievable. It was as if I had killed every living creature in the ecosystem like some deadly virus.

Night had arrived and so did the heavy downpour of rain followed by the booming sound of thunder and the bright light of electricity that crackled in the night sky.

However what was strange was that it did not rain on the mountain. The rain completely avoided the mountain. The only thing that did not bother was the lighting which actually tried hitting me if I stayed in the same spot from too long. Generally 3 seconds to 5 seconds.

Lava bubbled and spewed and the several small bubbles of hot air burst. Finally! I was so close to what I had come for.

I waved my arms in the air and the lava in the ground moved around and created a path for me. I jumped through the hole and flew down returning the lava to where it was behind me.

It got darker and darker until finally a bright light hit my face.

I was in a giant cavern where the lava come to a stop before going back to where it originally was. The cavern was empty. Aside from the small bats and insects in the cavern there was no other living organism.

I finally saw it. A giant eggshell. Pieces of it were scattered around the ground. The eggshells were enormous. They were the size of giant hills. It was unbelievable. The world serpent had come from something so small. Yes the eggshells were huge but compared to the size it currently was at, it was ridiculous to believe just how such a huge organism came from something so small.

I placed Thomas down on the ground. He was asleep and I did not want to wake him up. I was also tired from everything so I decided to rest. Once I am fully rested I was going to need to make a potion that was really important to my plan.
