Possession

Outside the pharmacy was a battlefield. A battle was taking place. Arrows and spears flew through the air. Blood gushed out of people. The clan members, the patients and the invaders. No one was safe from the chaos that was ongoing.

I quickly charged in and with the swiftness of a hare I appeared behind several enemies and punched a hole through their chests.

I picked up a sword from the clutches of dead man. One thing that I learnt since I had come to Murim wad that you should never pick up a dead person's weapon until the battle was over.

This concept was similar to valhala. You should die with a weapon in your hand if you did not want to come back to earth as mindless spirit that attracts violence.

I believed that it was simply a terrible lie. No one can come back from the dead. A sword removed from one's hand wasn't going to prevent one from staying dead. They would stay dead either way.

I quickly took care of several more enemies with my newly found sword. The sensation of swinging a sword was similar to my first high.

"I've always wanted to do this." I said as I sheathed my blade and placed my hand on it. I spaced my feet apart and with immaculate precision and speed the blade flew out and the woman in front of me turned into stringed meat. Her body was cut into several uneven chunks.

I glanced at the body and then continued on my way.

I mowed down anyone who stood before me. Before they could even charge at me their bodies had been cut into several chunks. It was practically sword practice for me as with each person I killed their bodies were cut more and more evenly.

After 10 seconds no enemies remained. The 50 or so assailants were all dead. Killed by me.

"Is the gold safe?" I asked Mulk as I walked into the pharmacy just as he slammed a man's head into a wall.

"Sect leader... of course it is." He replied.

"What about all the antidotes?"

"A bit of it has been spilt but most of it is safe."

"That's good." I replied as I sat down. "By the way, Was Thomas not with you?" I asked.

Mulk looked at me with a confused expression in his eyes. He slowly shook his head. "I haven't seen him for quite a whi-"

BOOOOOMM!

I jumped from my spot and took of running. The pharmacy shook from my footsteps. Where exactly was he?

This had been foolish of me. I had left him unsupervised. If he died here then I would not have someone who could possibly create an undead army that I could exploit.

I ran and ran around the residence breaking down doors and peering inside each room. I could not find him. My heart started to pound like crazy and sweat ran down my body.

"Where is Thomas?" I asked the dumb lion who was currently in the middle of a fight with some enemies. I quickly decapitated them as he was taking too long.

"I... I don't know... is he not in your Chambers?" He asked.

Of course. My Chambers? I had not even bothered to check there. The probability that he was there was high. I quickly grabbed the dumb lion by the tail and rushed over to my room.

I stopped a few metres away as my door had been blown out. There was blood on the floor and several bodies littered the ground.

"HOOM-" I quickly hit the dumb lion in the head and placed my finger on my mouth signalling him to shush.

Slowly I peered around the corner.

Thomas sat in a pool of blood. He was crying as he nudged the dead body of a maid.

My eyes moved around the room. What had caused this? Was this a trap? If so who planted it?

"Hey dumb lion... Look carefully... do you see any traps in the room?"

The dumb lion peered around the corner. "From what I can see... there is no trap but it sure does look like one."

Thanks Sherlock! I wouldn't have figured that out by myself. That is what I wanted to say but I refrained from being petty.

"Thomas!" I shouted as I entered the room. Thomas turned around. He was in terrible shape. He quickly stood up and rushed over to me with mucus and saliva running down his face.

I was about to pick him up when suddenly I felt something of. I didn't know what... but I could feel it. The area before me. It was like a vortex. A hole in the atmosphere where there was no air.

I quickly ducked down and jumped onto the ceiling. I dug my fingers into the ceiling and looked down.

The area where I had been standing was black. A thick black fog surrounded the wall. The wall was rapidly deteriorating. Within 2 seconds the dumb lion who had been on the other side could be seen.

"Ah I see..." I said as I jumped down from the ceiling. "Who exactly are you?" I asked Thomas. "I don't like it when ghosts possess the body of my son."

Thomas's head slowly turned. There was a large creepy grin on his face that stretched from one side of his face to the other. It was bizarre and weird. His small childish eyes that were filled with innocence were bulging and bloodshot red. There was no sign of how he was before.

He let out a mad giggle. "But he isn't your son. is he Damien?"

"I wouldn't call him my son if he wasn't. Do you think I enjoy taking care of a child?"

Thomas's head tilted from one side to the other as he let out a loud giggle. "How did you know that he was possessed?"

How did I know? To be honest I just took an educated guess. I did not even know that he was possessed but that was the only possible theory that made sense.

"How do I know? Why would I not know you ugly child possessing bastard? I'm warning you. You better get out of that child before I pull out some holy water."

SLAAASSHH!

The air before me let out a sinister whistle before a small booming sound filled the air. The sound was similar to hearing a jet engine from miles away.

Had I been a second late dodging I don't what would happen to me but it would not be pretty at all.

I could still see the slashes in the air. It was almost as if the air before me had been cut into pieces.

I glanced at Thomas. Whatever had possessed him was powerful. That slash had just been a warning.

"Let me ask you this, what are your intentions with that child?" I asked.

Thomas tilted his head. Had it not been for the creepy smile on his face he would still look like a normal innocent child.

"My intentions? It's obvious is it not. My intentions are to protect him, after all I am his guardian spirit."
