Chapter 26

I loved the cool October air, but I was more than ready for winter to arrive. Winter has always tasted like egg nog to me, they never sold it in stores until late November and I waited outside those doors like a crackhead feening for their next fix. It was one hell of a drug.

Leah burst through my bedroom door, startling me, and climbed into my lap, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Morning, beautiful. Today is a great day!"

What the hell?

"How did you get in my apartment? Between you and Ryan I don't know who to kill first."

"Who do you think broke in?" Ryan came walking inside the room and crashed onto the bed on his back, "Fuck, it's hot out there and I'm like 99% sure that old bag down the hall was flirting with me."

"Ryan!"

"What?" He chuckled softly.

Leah stifled a laugh. "I'm just surprised he didn't join her inside for tea and scones, he seems to want anything with a hole."
