Chapter 11

*Ember*

I woke up on a warm, solid, yet soft pillow. At least I thought it was a pillow until it started breathing. I look up to see Damian, snoring away. I smile away at the cute sight in front of me. I started to do circles on his chest until I thought of something. I grabbed my phone, took a picture of us and put it as my wallpaper. I also sent the photo to his phone so he could enjoy it. Plus I'm glad he's shirtless in the photo because if boys want me then they can take a good look at him and be intimidated by his physique. I've noticed that he has a couple of scars on his torso. Wonder where they came from? My thoughts are soon interrupted by a hand petting my hair. I look up to see those bright green and blue orbs.

"Morning Ember." He says in his tired husky tone.

"Morning Damian." I give him a peck on his lips. He pecks me back. "You're comfy."

"I'm happy to be your pillow any time but I am starving." His stomach growls, agreeing with him. I let out a snort as I laughed. "Hey I didn't get to eat my dinner last night. I'm surprised you're not hungry." He laughs.

"I agree. I'm hungry too. What do you want for breakfast?" I asked.

"Besides you?" He smirks. My face turns an absolute tomato red at that comment. "Hmm… how about pancakes or waffles?" He asks, making a smouldering face.

"Waffles. Pancakes were really never my thing." His jaw drops. "What?"

"Are you kidding me? Pancakes are awesome! Next you're gonna tell me you don't like tacos." I looked down as he was right. "Oh, oh no. Nope. I'm taking you out for tacos next time or this relationship is over." He chuckles. I felt myself about to cry but then I realized he was only pulling my leg. "Woah, did I say something wrong?"

I wiped away any tears that were producing from my ducts. "No."

"I was only kidding about the whole relationship ending thing baby. I would never leave you." He strokes my cheek with the back of his hand and I instantly feel at ease. How does this guy play with my emotions like this? "If you don't like certain things, I understand. I don't like chocolate, any chocolate for that matter."

"You don't like chocolate!?" I almost yelled. "Chocolate is like a kid's coffee time, you just don't live without it."

"I like coffee but not chocolate." He shrugs. "I've tried it multiple times and I just can't see how it tastes good to people. Now hot chocolate I can drink if I'm in the mood for it but other than that. Yuck." I let out a small laugh at his comment. Something tells me that Damian and I were just meant to be at that moment.

"Did you even taste it?" I asked Damian as I had just sat down with my plate and he was almost done with his.

"Baby, these are the best waffles that I've ever had besides my moms. You should open a bed and breakfast." He says.

"I don't think I'm quite good enough for something like that. Besides I'd need business classes too so I'd know how to run the B&B."

Damian smiles as he gets up to put more waffles on his plate.

"Ember." I look up to see my mom standing in the doorway. "I'm taking Jacob to his yearly physical. I'll be back soon. Love you."

"Love you too mom."

"Oh and I invited Damian's parents over for dinner. There is something they wanted to tell him. We're having a roast with potatoes and carrots for supper." Mom grabs her car keys and Jacob comes downstairs but not before looking at Damian with an evil eye.

"Don't do anything to my sister while we're gone or else." Jacob warns. Even though he is only ten years old, he is very protective of me. Damian chuckles since he's not intimidated by him.

"I wouldn't dream of harming her, buddy."

"Don't call me buddy." Damian raises an eyebrow but simply just goes back to eating his waffles. As soon as Jacob and my mom left, I was left to question why she would let Damian even stay home with me. She never trusted me with a boy, ever! Well Casey was an exception since he's Bella's boyfriend and one of my best friends. I guess he earned her trust after last night with those girls trying to rob me.

"You want to watch a movie with me?" Damian asks, pulling me from my thoughts.

"Sure. What did you have in mind?"

"What are you into?" He asks back.

"Comedy, animated movies, romance, and thriller."

"We'll see what's on Netflix."

For the rest of the day, I got to know Damian more and more. We had just watched a great show on Netflix that piqued our interest called "Stranger Things". I've heard of it before but never really sat down and watched it. But during lunch, Damian cooked some burgers and I'll admit that he's a pretty good cook. He even cut up some of the cooked meat and put it in Binx's bowl which made my heart melt. We even went out to swim in my pool for the rest of the day to cool off. But he played dirty and tackled me into the pool which made me cold! I swear I will get him back someday! But he made up for it by sitting out in the sun and cuddling me close to his warmth. I would say that this was one of the best days ever!

When my mom came home with Jacob, another vehicle pulled into our driveway. Out of it came a blonde man who looked like he never missed a workout day in his life, a brunette woman who I must admit is very beautiful for a woman her age, and a little boy that looked twelve years old. Damian passes by me and gives the strangers a hug. This must be his family. It's no wonder how Damian got his good looks! I come up behind him and Damian turns to smile at me.

"Mom, dad, Owen this is Ember. My… girlfriend." He introduces me.

"It's nice to meet you all." I shake hands with his father, mother, and brother.

"It's nice to finally meet the girl that my son has kept from us for the past couple days." His mom laughs. "Right, well then, my name is Misty Morningstar. This is my husband Michael and that is my other son and Damian's little brother, Owen." My mom comes to my side and smiles. "Crystal, it's been forever since I saw you! Last time we saw each other was…"

"The Pittsburgh haunting." My mom interrupts. Wait a minute!

"Wait, you and Misty were paranormal investigators?" I asked. Mom's eyes widened at my response.

"Oh my God, I forgot to mention that! How did that slip my mind? Yes Ember, all three of us were paranormal investigators. Michael, Misty and I were a team that investigated hauntings, UFO encounters and cryptid creatures." My mouth drops and suddenly it seemed like Damian and I were fated to each other for a reason.

"Wait! You guys were paranormal investigators?" Owen asks. I looked over at Damian and he had a perplexed look on him.

"Alright what the hell is going on here?" Damian asks.

Misty sighs. "Damian, it's time that your father and I told you everything about us. But first I am starving! I promise that we will clear everything up, okay?"

"Alright mom, but the second you finish your meal, I want to know everything!" Damian demanded.

"We promise." Michael says.

*Damian*

After all of us ate dinner, it was time that my parents cleared everything up. Why did they hide that they were paranormal investigators? Why did they give it up? What are they hiding from Owen and I? I had so many questions about them and us as a whole family. Crystal had put Jacob to bed since he was a little too young to hear all of this, but I had a feeling that Crystal would tell him eventually. All of us sat in the living room once Crystal returned.

"Alright, no bullshit! I want details about every little thing that you guys kept from us as kids. Ember and I are not kids anymore and Owen is old and smart enough to know too!" I ain't gonna lie, I am a little bit pissed off that these guys would keep secrets from us but I also gotta remember that maybe they had their reasons.

"Damian, I need you to be calm and collected. Please. We are your parents and we kept this from you to protect you. Please understand." Dad says. I close my eyes for a minute and let myself calm down. Once I calmed, I nodded for him to go ahead but my mother took over.

"Let me start by saying that both of us are not human." My mom starts. I raise an eyebrow thinking about what they could be. Are they witches too? "Your father is actually an angel and I'm a demon." My father and mother both stand up and soon wings appear from their backs! My mouth drops to the floor! My father had white wings like a bird while my mother had bat wings. They were both telling the truth!

"Woah." Owen uttered in shock. They both put their wings away and sit back down.

"I am the Archangel Michael himself." My father says.

"And I am the demon known as Mephistopheles." My mother explains. "We both come from difficult families of angels and demons but it didn't stop us from encountering each other. We are the oldest out of both families and were once great warriors from both Heaven and Hell. For thousands of years, we both fought each other until one day we both grew tired of fighting. We met at this exact location in Helltown when it was founded by a mysterious man and his pioneers. He actually got Michael and I to protect this town from supernatural creatures like vampires, werewolves, Wendigos, and much more. Michael and I got to know each other very well during our patrols and fell in love. We never really meant to do anything other than just let ourselves take it slow, one night at a time. But eventually we built a home together, fought together and lived together. That was until Crystal came to town with a coven of witches trying to escape the Salem trials. All three of us fought them back and have lived in Helltown since. And as a side job we investigated paranormal activity in many spots of the world like Pittsburgh's Molech house, Amityville, Area 51, the Himalayas, and much more." My mom explains. I was dumbfounded and judging by the look on Ember's face, so was she. I looked back at my parents.

"So what happened to investigating the paranormal? Why did you guys quit?" I asked.

"Ember's father is the one to blame." Crystal answers. "I learned that he had a cult of people that followed his evil intentions since he was a high level demon. Once he found out who these two were, he wanted the King and Queen of demons to destroy them so he could rule the world for himself but I couldn't let him do it even if I did love him. I used every ounce of power I had to make him human. That's when he took Rose and left town for good."

Ember gets up and hugs her mom, tears streaming down her face. I guess it really affected her to know this. I can't believe that her dad tried to have my mom and dad killed either. But I still had one question in mind.

"Why is there a demon haunting me?" I asked. My mom and dad looked at me with cocked heads. "Ever since I turned eighteen there's been a demon that has been inside my head." My mom lets out a little laugh.

"That would be the demon that's been dormant in your mind ever since you were born. I suspected you'd get one since technically you are a demon and angel hybrid." My mom says. "That means you can shapeshift into him when you are ready." My eyes widened once more. I can turn into a demon?

"I don't know the exact powers you and Owen will have but this is why I trained you how to fight so that you can survive against the world that may look at you as a monster instead of the man you can be." My father explains. "And now you have a girlfriend to protect. Your fated mate."

"Fated mate?" Ember and I ask at the same time!

"Yes, you two are fated to each other. Can you not feel a bond that is strong between you? You two are meant to be for a reason and I believe it to protect this town." My father smiles.

"A toast to the new guardians of Helltown." Crystal says, holding up a glass of wine.

"Cheers!" My mom and dad say, clanking glasses. Ember and I look at each other confused but also happy that we have cleared everything up. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a great life with Ember and I being supernatural creatures!
