The Funeral

The funeral was a week after, a lot of dignitaries appeared to give their condolences. I just gave them the minimal amount of respect nothing more, Tony and Rhodey came over to comfort me. I initially attempted to get away from them but they wouldn't budge and so I wore a mask one I have worn everyday since then. I put on a smile.

Seeing my smile they thought they had succeeded and the atmosphere became more lax. The funeral was how you would expect... gloomy and sad, the funeral did not last long. After the funeral the people that mattered headed to a private room to wait for the lawyer.

The people in the room were relatives I had no idea existed, Uncles,Aunts, cousins, second uncles and the like. I was seating at a corner by myself watching the fam interact with one another when someone headed my way. It was a young girl around my age, she was dressed in a black straight dress, she had a freckled face, grey eyes and brown hair which went down to her shoulders.

"Hi, I'm Katherine King but I prefer Kate." she introduced herself to me, considering she was in this room and had the same sur name as I did it didn't take much to deduce she was my cousin. " I'm Jeffrey King but you already know that. " I spoke with the false smile plastered on my face, I have learnt this reduces the chance of people asking questions they don't want the answers to. She giggled at my answer we began talking and contray to my expectations I enjoyed talking to her.

The lawyer appeared a few minutes later and everyone took their seats, I ended up placed in front right by Kate and her family. Kate was similar to me in a way, she was the only child and her mom and dad seemed to care about each other but that's where similarities end, her father...for lack of better words was an asshole, based on my investigations, yes you read right, investigations.

I had every single adult in this room investigated, I had watched enough movies in my past life to know when situations like this occur the most danger is from so called family . Anyway back to my uncle, based on my investigations he was a very shady man who owned a private security company, his company was doing well but he was not content and had set his greedy eyes on his brother's property ergo my father's property.

The lawyer began reading the will and the more he read the uglier my uncle's face began. Apparently my father believed in my intelligence, he had left all his businesses, property and money to me, a kid had billions to his name, I'm pretty sure I became the youngest billionaire ever. My uncle tried to argue I was too young but the lawyer just said he trusted me and I could appoint who ever I wished to run the business. Immediately the lawyer was finished I announced that Sebastian would be in charge of running everything until I was ready to take over.

At my words my uncles face was not the only one with an ugly expression and I could guess why, the family was thinking of ways to trick me to get everything but with my move all plans were thrown out the door.

The funeral came to an end. Sebastian escorted everyone out before returning to the study knowing we had to talk. Sebastian just stood there when he came in, after I short while I finally spoke up " Sebastian I know you are curious as to why I did this and the answer is a simple one I am leaving. " " I do not understand young master. " " I have decided to take a trip to find myself.... I will leave tonight and I know this is sudden but I hope you understand. " Sebastian stared at me for a while before speaking " I will always be waiting young master. " I smiled at that " Oh and while I am away I do hope you could fix the Manor." I was leaving in a new home in New York but I missed the old one because it held memories.

Sebastian promised to do so and I hugged him one last time. I then took my bag which I had prepared and left that night that was the night my journey began....my journey to become the dark knight.
