Harriet was clueless about what meat meant, while the adult young man solidly thought the child was playing a prank on him, which he felt hostility toward.
"Mama and Papa only feed me bread, fish, potatoes, oat, and milk. I have no idea what meat means" Harriet convinced counting her words with her fingers. She wasn't lying.
