Morning, the next day.
Yesterday, after Arthur read the notice on the board in front of the Academy, he quickly went back to the inn to extend his stay for a few more days in case something happened.
Arthur didn't want to bring his bag when he held his interview, so it was safer to let it stay in the inn rather than leave it somewhere else.
He only brought the necessary documents and a sword strapped to his waist.
As Arthur walked his way towards the Academy, he already saw a lot of people crowding at the gate. There were guards there in front of the gate to stop people from going inside the Academy.
Arthur let out a sigh as he couldn't do anything but wait until the gate opened, observing the situation.
As Arthur walked around to find a good place to wait, he heard the sound of a carriage behind him and reflexively looked behind to see the carriage stop behind the crowd in front of the gate, and a girl stepped out from the carriage.
The moment the girl stepped out, everyone crowding in front of the gate quickly moved away, as if making way for her. It was Allesia Blair, the daughter of Anthony Blair, who stepped out from the carriage.
No sane person would dare to block her way, at least those with a low-level noble status wouldn't dare. Maybe a Duke descendant would, but even then, they would still need to think it through again.
Upon seeing that it was Allesia who came out from the carriage, Arthur tried his best to hide in the crowd. He still couldn't forget what he felt yesterday.
Moreover, with a lot of people watching, it would only make things even more troublesome for him. So, Arthur tried his best not to make eye contact with Allesia as he kept looking at the gate.
While Arthur busied himself with pretending as if he didn't know what was happening, Allesia looked around to see if there was someone she knew. After a few glances, she saw Arthur's figure, looking at the gate with so much focus
"Ah, Art-"
*BOOOM!*
"Welcome to all the srudent candidate. The interview will be held in the training hall, so, follow me first. Oh, you guys remember to bring your document right? You need that to get a number for the interview."
Before Allesia could finish speaking, the gate opened, and a man who could be said to be a butler from his attire started talking, trying to lead the crowd to the interview location.
Allesia wasn't pleased with what was happening, but she couldn't help it as it was really a coincidence. She stomped her feet in annoyance before following the crowd.
Arthur followed the crowd as he entered the gate. There, he saw the inside of the Academy. He saw a building around 200 meters in front of him, a cobblestone pathway leading to the grand building adorned with some unknown intricate runes if you paid attention to it carefully. In the center of the pathway, a fountain carved from a combination of stone and some unknown crystal lay there, as if to elevate the surrounding atmosphere.
Arthur then looked around and saw another building to his right. He also saw that the butler was walking towards the building, which meant that the building was the training hall that the butler mentioned before.
When he saw the building, Arthur sensed a different atmosphere or aura emanating from it. The training hall wasn't as big as the main building, but he somehow felt that it was even more extraordinary.
From outside the building, Arthur could only see it as a massive structure, standing over 7 meters tall, with clean and well-maintained walls. However, he could glimpse inside through the open door. Arthur saw the floor filled with scars from various weapons and felt an aura or will oozing out from inside the building.
'It's not called as a legendary Academy for nothing!'
Arthur felt that the Academy wasn't leaving those scars unfixed due to funding constraints or inability, but rather to maintain the solemn atmosphere of the training hall.
He resumed moving after pausing to appreciate the building. Even though he didn't know anyone who trained here, he couldn't help but appreciate the efforts, sweat, and blood that went into creating such an atmosphere, especially knowing the hardships of training himself.
As Arthur entered the training hall, he noticed two counters slightly behind each side of the door where people queued to submit enrollment documents. He quickly exchanged his documents for a queue number, receiving number 177 on a wooden plate.
Looking around, he found a spot with fewer people and observed a stone wall covering about a fifth of the training hall, behind which he guessed the interviews would take place. Guards stood by a door nearby, presumably leading to the interview area. It seemed the Academy had prepared for the interviews, as there were no weapons racks or target dummies present, leaving the training hall empty save for the people waiting.
"Arthur! You're here."
Arthur who heard the voice tried his best not to make any funny face. He know whose voice it is as the only candidate that knew his name is only Allesia.
'Sigh… you can't run from what's inevitable. Forget it just don't offend her and annoyed her.'
"Ah, Miss Blair, you're here too. I thought you might have already take the interview."
Arthur said as he look at the girl, Allesia who walks to him as she wave her hand. Arthur also saw a lot of people around him start to back away slowly.
"I just come in. I saw you before when we're outside, but when I'm about to call you the gate was open and you might not hear it."
Allesia said it as she pouted.
"That's unfortunate, I've might be too focus back there and doesn't saw you before."
'No, how can't I don't see when most of the people move away from your carriage miss. I still want to live okay. Sigh…'
Arthur now wondering if she's clueless about her situation or pretending to be.
Allesia finally arrived besides Arthur, with a smile on her face and lighten the atmosphere around them with a cheerful personality of her.
"Hehe, I don't know any people here, so ithought I will have to wait here in a boredom until the interview begin. But, I'm lucky to meet you here!"
Arthur can't help but let out a smile when he heard that. If not, for your crazy father, a lot people might be here instead of me.
People here are afraid of her father who known for loving his daughter too much that anyone who were tried to get close to her learn their 'lesson' and that also warn those who want to get close to her.
Who in the empire doesn't know about the Count's Frederick son who tried to court her only to lose his way to make a descendant.
Before this incident, quite a lot people have an interest with Allesia. With a rumor floating around of how beautiful she was and couple with her cheerful personality, it's no wonder that people might target her.
"No, no. It is me whose lucky to meet miss Blair here."
"You're funny Arthur. By the way, what's number did you get? Also, you can just call me Allesia. It's a bit weird when I'm calling you by your first name, but you still call me miss Blair."
"I can't do that miss, I was just a commoner not too long ago and I was lucky enough to get enough money and bought a Noble name. I know my worth miss, I'm lucky enough to have a conversation with you here. If I started to use your first name, then I will push my luck too much, miss Blair."
Arthur tried his best to be as polite as possible while tried his best not to make her upset, and what he said wasn't wrong. With his status, it will be pushing his luck to call someone like Allesia with her first name.
"But, I don't care it though?"
Yes, she might not care about this, but, the people who hear it will.
"But, other might."
"Tch, who dares? I will tell father about this!"
The conversation start to get out of line for Arthur, as he start to woried about his future. It's ok if he can get into the Academy, but if he's not, then some Noble might do something about this.
"Allesia, you can stop there. He's having a hard time you know."
At this time, a girl voice with some mature vibe can be heard and make Allesia a little bit surprised, but also a little bit angry.
"Who!"
Allesia looking around and finally found the source of the voice.
"Ah! Irene, you're here! I thought you already passed the interview!"
Allesia suddenly lose all her anger when she saw the person who just talking.
"Silly girl, how can it be that fast."
Arthur recognized the one who just speaks. Irene Hertfilia from the family of Duke Heartfilia. Duke Heartfilia is situated in the South Border together with the Marques Blair, both of the family is responsible for guarding the South Border.
Both Heartfilia and Blair family as been friends since a long time ago. Both family doesn't care about status diferent or power or territory. What they know is that they help each other family and together to help the South Border.
The head of the family can changes, but not their friendship.
With the two family guarding the border between the human and demon territory, the South Border has been safe from the invasion since a long time ago. That's just how strong their friendship is and that's just how strong their family power are.
