"Mister Xiao, can you please play another song… please?" Said little Su, the girl who's mother Xiao saved. "Of course!" Xiao said while smiling warmly. He looked back at the others following him. It was Baan, Lee, and the mother-daughter pair that he had saved, Gyena and Su.
The other villagers had stayed, saying that it was their home and they wouldn't abandon it.
So, now they had a group of five traveling the road together. It was the day after the attack and everyone was in relatively high spirits considering the circumstances.
Xiao took out his flute and started to play. Soon, they recognized the song and I looked back to see them smiling. Baan started to sing, Lee quickly joining in.
"~It's a long long way to Ba Sing Se, but the girls in the city, they look so pretty! They kiss so sweet, that you really have to meet, the girls from Ba Sing Seeeee!~"
They sang. Little Su started to laugh and attempted to sing along, she failed miserably though because she didn't know the words. This caused everyone all to laugh.
Xiao picked up Su and put her on his shoulders as he continued to play.
Xiao smiled inwardly. 'I'm glad they're all cheering up….' He thought to himself.
—One Month Later—
"Woah. It's huge!" Lee exclaimed as we began to see the wall of Ba Sing Se in the distance. I leaned in to Baan as we walked. "That's what she said." I whispered.
The man snickered with Xiao. They both choked though when they saw Gyena giving them a glare. "What are you two talking about back there?" She asked with a 'smile.'
"Nothing." They said together. The woman sighed. "Sure..." She muttered under her breath.
Over the month they had spent traveling together, the group had gotten much closer. Baan and Xiao particularly got along despite the age difference.
"Yeah I'll be leaving soon." Xiao said, stretching as he continued onward. "Do you really have to go, Mister Xiao?" Asked little Su as she pouted cutely.
Xiao smiled warmly. "Yep! I have to train in the Water Tribe for a while, but I promise I'll come and visit sometime." He said. Baan and Gyena smiled at this.
"So what do you guys plan on doing?" Xiao asked as they approached the wall. They would be separating there because as a fire bender and Fire Nation soldier, Xiao was not permitted entry. He had only found this out from a passing merchant on the road.
"I think I'll join the army again." Baan said after thinking for a bit.
"And I'll open a tea shop." Gyena said. Apparently she had owned a tea shop in her village, but it burned down along with all her stock during the attack.
Xiao smiled. "I'll definitely stop by if I ever get the chance! And I'll bring my master along, he'd probably love that!" Xiao said excitedly. Gyena just nodded her head.
When they reached the wall. Xiao bent down to Su and Lee. The two had become inseparable over the journey, and they were both sad to see Xiao go.
"Su. Be good, don't cause your mom any trouble! And make sure that you help her at work!" Xiao said. Su nodded, tears in her eyes.
"And Lee, protect everyone for me, will you? I hope y'all stay close so then you won't be separated." Xiao told the little boy, who was trying his best not to cry and failing miserably.
Xiao smiled and stood up. "I'll probably hitch a ride at a nearby port. There should be one not too far away and from there I'll reach the Water Tribe. Stay safe and stay close. I'll miss you guys." Xiao said as he gave Baan a firm handshake and said goodbye to Gyena.
He then walked away, waving behind his back as he did so.
They waved back and Xiao started heading down the road once more. This time alone.

Short Chapter, I know.
I wanted to get this out of the way, so I'll be posting a second chapter today that will be much longer.
