Defeating God

It had been a decade since over 5 million people were trapped in a game, no one knew if what the developers said were true that if you die here they would die in real life too. The majority believed it but a few turned to killing others since it was just a game.

Many had given up clearing the game and decided to live pleasant life's as an ordinary citizen in their select country. But there was also those trying their hardest to clear the game, dying as a result and were used as a stepping stone for those at the forefront to kill the final boss. Many disliked those tactics and decided to fight solo, Janna was one of those. Ever since the game began she had been alone, rarely helping those using others to survive. She worked for herself and by herself, it made her strong as an individual. She might not be able to kill every person in the game if they attack her at once but in a duel she was unmatched.

Many hated her because she let many people down by not working together with them, so many tried to kill her to get her equipment for themselves to "help those in need" but she shunned those, killing them without mercy if they attacked her.

But as those at the forefront reached the final boss after a decade they were at loss, in order to challenge it they had to be solo and few of them wished to risk their life's for others. Those few righteous souls that challenged "God" all died miserably, all were too weak since non of them knew had felt death truly be in front of them. A few hours after their "sacrifice" Janna approached.

Do any of you weaklings need help, I said with a cute smile. My words caused a uproar in the group, calling those "elites" weak was usually never done.

At the uproar I let out a laugh and went in to challenge the boss, while I had no wish to help neither did I mind fighting a battle against the strongest being in the game and with the hope of getting out alive I readied myself for my final battle. When I walked in I was teleported to the top of a mountain that had the Gods city "Origin" built around it. At the peak of the mountain I could see few signs of life expect some grass and God itself in front of me. He? Looked like a giant praying mantis with but with a much sturdier body and scary looking scythes that would have no problem cutting me in half.

The people in the outside tensed up, although they got mad at her words she was still undoubtedly the strongest player in the game so if she died their chances of getting it alive would be null. They could see the battle through a monitor, a few took notes of the boss' attack patterns if Janna would fail they could at least learn something those before her failed to uncover.

The praying mantis had yet to attack me so I figured he would be in a neutral state until I began my assault, so I sat down at the peak of the mountain and took out the beat food I had to increase my stats slightly since it could be the difference between life and death.

After nearly an hour of consuming various foods and drinks to help me win the wind started blowing to the north as I stood up and prepared to attack the odd looking mantis.

The mantis took notice of my approach and silently prepare to counter my attack, just to test the waters I sent a couple hot fireballs his way. Wait is male or female? I think I read a male has 6 abdominal segments and females have 8... Silently I started counting the segments and it came fourth being 6, so it is male!

Coming back from that small yet important detour I prepared myself as my fireballs were going to hit God, but when the fireballs was mere millimeters from reaching they dissipated under the sound of a broken laugh from someone without vocal chords. Not long after the mantis began his attack, he attacked using his scythes in order to cleanly cut me in half I was uncertain if I should use my spear to block the since it might just cut it in half, even if the spear was considered the best weapon in this entire game.

Deciding on redirecting the blow I met his scythes that were coming from above with the tip of my spear to redirect it to my side so it stuck deep down the mountain plateau, having the perfect opportunity presented to me I a skill to make the tip of my spear resemble a meteorite as I struck his underside.

A loud screech could be heard as the mantis retreated but it didn't seem to be hurt beyond feeling the pain from my attack, it was only filled to the brim with hatred instead of fear.

Outside the plateau the thousands of people were watching began to feel hope of Janna defeating God but all knew it was too early to celebrate, many were stupefied at the speed both Janna and God could achieve and all knew no one would be a match for either of them.

Seeing God being filled with hate I rejoiced a little, thinking it was better he was stronger but was bound to make more mistakes. But since he got stronger I was forced to defend against his attacks more often than what I could counterattack, our fight quickly escalated as the God used more of his power and I was forced to sustain more of it. We slowly chipped away at each other as we deformed the mountain plateau, the mountain had properly gotten quite a lot shorter as we fought.

Hours past and all the onlookers wee still stupefied at the intensity of the battle, those taking notes gave up as they noticed this boss had no patterns and it was not a battle of attrition and memorization as the other had been, it was a battle that only skill and strength could effect. Although they saw Janna taking a lot of damage they also fully realized why she had called them weaklings, they were truly nothing more than weeds that could be plucked at anytime in front of her.

The battle raged on as the mountain grew shorter by the minute, even the landscape underneath them took damage and neither me nor the mantis were giving up, my bonuses from the various foods I ate was long gone now and it was a big hit to my strength and it made the fight harder, but I was dead set on winning this fight. Not that I had any way of surviving in any other way than killing the God in front of me. At doe point I managed to cut one of the scythes close to cleanly off, it was only hanging by a tendon but simultaneously I took a cut to my left arm making it near useless as you could see white underneath layers of muscle. After a day of deadly fighting both me and the mantis showed fatal signs of tiredness, neither could hold on much longer and a single blow could be the outcome of the battle. We both had the same idea as we prepared to use our last attacks leaving defense as it was not important anymore. I noticed that God started to gather magical energy in his stomach, it was the universal sign of a breath attack and judging from the deep black mist leaking from his mouth it would be the infamous death magic. There was no known way to resist death magic and dodging is my only option, but I didn't want to dodge so I prepared my final attack [mountain cleaver]. As the name suggests it will cleave everything in its way.

We both simultaneously attacked, he with his breath and me with my spear. In front of me I could see nothing but pitch black death and with a powerful swing with my spear, the skill took effect and created a crevasse in the darkness, letting through a crack of light from above. As my spear tore through further down the light was blocked by the God but I did not stop, all around me was darkness as I was the sole being in the crevasse she created and in front of her was God that had been cleaved by the tip of my spear.

After a long and dreadful fight I was the only one alive, barley. I was happy but I had no energy to celebrate as I could hear the game system announce [God has been defeated, players can now log out]

Outside of the battlefield millions of people were celebrating the system announcement as everyone begun logging out, after 10 whole years they are able to see their families again. Those they never thought they would see again, but those at the forefront that had watch the entire battle unfold was happy beyond belief, but all of them looked at the monitor showing the young girl, Janna. That had saved them from this game, she had fallen unconscious from the intense battle. They definitely had a tale to tell when they get home.

I wonder if I wrote this good.
