"Wake up honey!" Ellen tried to wake Dara up.
Dara slowly opened her eyes and murmured, "I don't want to go to school today."
Ellen chuckled, "There's no school today sweetie. The spring ball starts in thirty minutes."
"Oh the ball!" Dara got up with a shock, "I almost forgot it!"
"Now as you're awake, go get dressed up quickly. I can't wait to see you in that beautiful dress." after saying this, Ellen left the room.
Dara hurriedly got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower. She came out and took out the dress from her closet. She held it in front of her and looked at it. She thought, "What's the point of going to the ball if Wade's not there?" she put the dress back inside, wore her pajamas and went upstairs to drink some water.
"Why aren't you ready yet?" Ellen asked.
"Mom I don't want to go." Dara told.
"Why not?"
"I don't feel well."
"Dara I know you and Wade are having some problems these days but it doesn't mean that you should not live your life."
"Mom everything's fine between us. I just don't want to go."
"You don't want to make your Dad upset, right? You know how expensive that dress was."
"Huh…you're emotional attacks all the time." Dara smirked.
"Now go get ready as soon as you can." Ellen winked at Dara.
Dara put her dress on. It looked more beautiful. She put some mascara, a bit of blush and a light gloss on her lips. "Wade likes my lips in red." she thought while looking at herself in the mirror. She took out a dark red lipstick and put it on her lips. She combed her hair and rolled them. She looked dazzling.
She went upstairs to the living room where her parents were sitting, "So what do you think?"
"Oh my gosh!" Ellen exclaimed, "You look the prettiest."
"I told you this dress was made for you sweetheart." smiled Greg.
"I love you both!" Dara went close to her parents and hugged them.
Ellen took a picture of Dara and after that Dara went off to her school. There were lightening everywhere around the school. She really missed Wade. She got out from the car and went inside. It was dark and quiet. "The basketball stadium, it must be there." Dara said to herself. She walked to the basketball stadium. She opened the door. The stadium was crowded with kids of her age and small wearing beautiful clothes and masks on their eyes. Everyone looked at Dara as soon as she entered. Dara felt uncomfortable.
"Wear this." a guy gave a mask to Dara who was standing at the right side of the door.
"Thank you!" Dara took the mask from his hand and put it on. She walked further. Girls and boys kept on coming to Dara to tell her that she looked beautiful and to ask her for a dance but she told that she was expecting someone else.
Soon an announcement was made, "All the students are asked to start a dance with their partners." The lights got dim and soft music started to play.
Dara stood at the corner and waited for Wade to come.
"Want to dance?" a lad wearing a red mask on his eyes held his hands towards Dara.
"No thank you!" Dara uttered, "I'm waiting for someone."
"You can dance with me for a while unless that someone comes."
Dara thought for a second and then agreed. The boy rested his hands on Dara's waist and Dara held him from his shoulders. Dara felt uncomfortable but she still danced.
"You know you're beautiful." the boy told Dara.
"Well thank you!"
Soon the dance was over and the lights turned back on. Another announcement was made, "You all are now asked to put for masks off." Dara put off her mask and so did everyone.
"Aren't you going to take it off?" Dara asked from the boy.
"Why don't you take it off for me." the boy uttered.
Dara went close to him and slowly took off his mask while he held her from his waist. As soon as his mask was off, Dara's eyes filled with tears and she kissed him.
"Where were you gone?" she cried.
"I had no other choice but to leave. I don't know why I keep running again and again. I just can't see you in trouble love." Wade spoke.
"I'm only in trouble when you're not around me." Dara held his face from her hands.
"I love you Dara!" Wade hugged her.
"So now it is time to announce the spring ball's King and Queen." another announcement was made, "The King and Queen of the spring ball are…"
"I know it's us. I can feel it." Dara held Wade's hand tightly.
"Dara Garland and Wade Charles." the guy who was making the announcement shouted. There were claps and hooting everywhere as soon as everyone heard the names.
Dara hugged Wade with excitement.
"You are asked to come on stage and take your crowns."
Dara and Wade went on the stage and the school's chairman put the crowns on their heads. Dara was so happy. She picked up the mike and said, "I want to thank all of you for choosing us. It's not about winning or losing, it's about showing the love we have for our partner and I love my partner so much. We are the Kings and Queens of our partners. Happy spring all of you!" Everyone clapped and hooted. Dara and Wade came down from the stage and the lights got dim again. "Enjoy the night!" the boy on the mike announced. Soft music started to play.
Wade pulled Dara close to him. He held her tight from her waist and she held him from around his neck. They both were so close to each other that even it was hard for air to pass through. They gently kissed and moved along with the music.
"Should I get you something to drink?" Wade asked Dara as soon as the lights turned back on.
"I really am thirsty." Dara chuckled.
Wade went to take the drinks for them both. Meanwhile when Dara was waiting for Wade, William came.
"Dara I need your help!" he exclaimed.
"What do you want now? You kept on lying to me!"
"That was for your own good."
"You are an werewolf William. Why would you hide that from me?"
"You also never told me that you are a werewolf too."
"It's a long story."
"Dara please I want you to come with me for a while and I'll explain everything to you."
"Where do you want us to go? I'm waiting for Wade. He'll be back any minute."
"I won't take much time."
Dara looked at Wade. There was a rush on the table where the juices were. "Just for five minutes." Dara uttered.
"Come…" William spoke as he moved outside the stadium from the back door.
It was cold outside. Cold wind blew. Dara shivered till toes.
"Do it quick Will, its cold outside." Dara uttered as she shivered while rubbing her hands on her arms.
"Congratulations for being the ball Queen Dara." William smiled at her.
"Just say what you wanted to say." Dara exclaimed.
Suddenly someone hit her head from behind and she fell down unconscious.
"You hit her so hard!" William exclaimed.
"You were the one who gave the idea to hit her. I always wanted to poison her." Lenny laughed.
"Is she dead?" Stacy asked.
William bent down to catch Dara's breath, "She's alive."
"Let's just kill her and finish this for once and all." Sabrina spoke.
"I called her here only because you all promised not to kill her." William said while picking Dara up.
"Just put her in the car Mr. Romeo." Lenny chuckled.
William put her in the car and turned to his friends, "You know what she means for me. I don't even know why I'm doing this to her."
"You're doing the right thing for your people." Stacy uttered while putting her hand on William's shoulder.
"What's up with this girl? She smells weird." Lenny made a disgusting face.
"She…she smells like nothing." Sabrina spoke.
"She has no smell." Stacy exclaimed.
"You're Juliet sure is strange." Lenny laughed.
"But how is this possible. Every werewolf has its smell." Stacy inspected.
"She smelled like a human before." William uttered.
"This is so confusing." Sabrina spoke while sitting in the car.
"Dara! Are you here?" Wade came outside while looking for Dara.
"His real boyfriend is looking for her." Stacy whispered.
"Hey Charles!" William went to Wade.
Wade looked at him and then to his friends.
"Have you seen Dara?" Wade asked.
"No we haven't and I don't think she came outside." William told, "We've been here for about an hour now. None of us saw here coming this way."
Wade looked at William with his fierce golden eyes as if he didn't trust him, "Why should I trust you? I know the wolves want to kill her."
"What happened before was because I'm the son of an Alpha and I've my duties. I only did that to protect you."
Wade looked at him, then at his friends who were standing back with the car and then he uttered, "We could have figured something out and besides all that, you dated my girl. How could you do that?"
"You never wanted her anyways. If you did, you would've been there with her from the first place."
"I was trying to protect her!" Wade shouted.
"Same as I was trying to protect you years ago but all you did was you never listened to me and broke our friendship."
"I need to go find Dara." Wade uttered and turned around to go back inside.
"We can still talk about it if you want to." William said from behind.
Wade stopped walking for a while and then he ignored what William said and started to walk again inside. William went to his friends near the car.
"We know what you did wasn't wrong." Sabrina uttered.
"I don't want to talk about it." William gasped, "Let's take Dara to my father."
They all sat in the car and off they went to the werewolf's town.
