Lucien continued to whisper into Dominik's ear, not caring who heard him. His voice, like his wolf's, was like a siren's song to Dominik and Damien, their eyes flashing as their wolves pushed forward.
"You will never be alpha," said Raphael from the bed hoarsely. "You aren't worthy of the title. We can't just raid the so-called compound. We have no idea what is waiting for us or even how to get in. Hundreds of our packmates would die as a result. It isn't worth their lives."
Lucien, Dominik, and Damien all turned to look at Raphael, their eyes flashing in unison at the dying pack member in front of them.
Just how easy would it be to kill off their sick and injured alpha? It would be normal, out in the wild, to do it. No one wanted diseases to spread through the pack. And a useless alpha couldn't protect himself, let alone his pack.
