Chapter 23: The Forest

Grayson was standing face-to-face with a wolf. He looks into its dark eyes, trying to gain some semblance of insight into what it could be thinking. The wolf blinks at him, trustingly.

He reaches a hand out and the wolf closes its eyes. Grayson scratches behind its ear.

The wolf leans into him and Grayson can see its tail twitching. After a moment, Grayson drops his hand and the wolf looks up at him. It exhales in disappointment and steps back.

Suddenly the wolf is Jude, looking at Grayson with a vexed face.

"Really?"

"You wagged your tail."

"You said it was important!"

"I think that qualifies as important!"

Jude laces his arms around Grayson's waist and shakes his head.

"I took you out here so I could answer all of your burning questions and the first thing you do is pet me?"

"Wolf you is really soft. And I know you liked it."

Jude tilts Grayson's chin up and presses a kiss to his lips.
