Chapter 4 - The power of an 'Original'

A 13 year old boy could be seen training with a sword under a tree. Each of his strikes fast and seemingly deadly. As he got faster normal people would see blurry images of his sword.

And if they saw him training, they would be able to see a faint picture of a landscape within.

'Whew I feel like I will have a breakthrough in my sword art soon.' Thought Max as he was the 13 year old looking kid.

'Tomorrow it will be 3 years since I came into this world. It has been already a year and 9 months since then huh.' Pondered Max as he stopped swinging his sword.

It has already been quite some time since he was born and thanks to mana he grew really quickly. Even under normal standards of this world 3 year olds usually looked around 7 to 8. A/N : Will stop mentioning 'according to Earth's standards cuz that's just farming free words

It has already been 9 months since Max left his family in hopes of finding power to get his sisters back. During the year he was with his family he felt frustrated and powerless.

The feeling of being powerless was foreign to him as many things were when he got and lived here. He already decided to leave after what happened but his parents wouldn't let him.

And so he negotiated and begged them to give him tests that would make him qualified to leave and venture into this world.

And test he got. His father told him that he would pass only if he managed to get grade 3 in 3 months and he had to learn basics and swordsmanship his father developed.

This would have been ridiculous and impossible for any kid unless they went through a trauma when they were 3 months old and were talents seen once in an era.

Thankfully even though Max didn't have a talent rivalling those once seen in an era, he was a talent that was seen once a thousand years on the entire continent. Not just a city or a village, the entire continent.

Of course that is purely based on his physique, thanks to it he grew quickly and got stronger quickly. It's impossible for a genius to only have strong comprehension and trashy bodies to be called a genius in this type of world

A genius had to have three things. Powerful body which grants potential. Powerful comprehension which speeds up the time to use said potential and finally luck. Simple choosing to go to a town A or B could affect a persons life.

They could encounter a master or encounter death. Each step that weak humans take are thought to be safe, but in fact it is filled with danger. Danger that could wipe them and the whole continents but that is something that only the strongest know.

And so, ignorance feeds luck most of the times. Mistaking it with resourcefulness would be a huge mistake. A person that can acquire a rare material through trade and connections isn't on a same level as a person that sneezes, trips and accidentally finds it in a random bush.

And Max had at least two of those things. Powerful body that was nearly at the top and comprehension so powerful that it should belong to a warrior at grade 9 or even higher.

And as for luck? You could say it has been in perfect balance so far. He got reincarnated in the world but the price he had to pay was the pain of losing all of his sisters from the get go.

Sometimes he wondered if this was quietly setup by that mysterious statue. Like it wanted him to hurry up and motivate him because he would for sure not keep his deal. He knew it and the statue knew it, but it had no choice or perhaps it is more accurate to say it had no better choice.

Though what he managed to do surprised his father to his very core. Just after a month of training he achieved the grade 3 and learned swordsmanship arts that his father taught him.

Once his father saw the rate of progress his son made he remembered about a certain technique in this world. It was wide spread and surprisingly worked for mages, warriors and cultivators.

The technique had a simple name. Compression to the beginning. This technique granted a person incredible foundations and boosted potential. All it depended on was at which grade the person was willing to compress.

The stronger the grade the higher level of compression. There is a legend that a grade 9 warrior once compressed his grade because he felt like he wouldn't be able to improve without life and death battles.

He however was scared of the thought of dying and thanks to his pretty young age he dared to compress his body back to grade 0. Once he did so he became unrivaled in his grade and the grades above.

At grade 0 it was said that he could beat grade 3 and he broke through quickly. Thanks to that he became a legend attaining grade 9 once again. Sadly people felt threatened by his presence and was ambushed by some strong people.

To this day it is unknown who was the cause of his death. There is a catch however unless you have a higher grade technique you wouldn't be able to get anything once you compress a grade for a second time.

Max had a pretty strong legacy thanks to his father. It wasn't the best but one of the more powerful ones for sure.

And so his father told him that if he attains grade 4 after a month, he should compress his grade for higher potential.

Max didn't have that much hope for that technique but that changed after he noticed that the hexagon was finally active.

After all this time he finally managed to awaken it. He noticed it awakening after he talked to his father when he broke through to grade 3.

As he finally learned what the so called original could do. And it seemed that it was barely the beginning.

For starters he got a choice where the hexagon would examine the power system he trained in and then would create the most powerful version of a legacy that there could be.

Surprisingly it wasn't on a weak level like those so called Universe destroying artifacts he read about. Where they gain a set of techniques without even adjusting for the user.

This was the real deal and real deals are just what he needed. The hexagon created a list that would create a powerful legacy based on his needs and wants.

If he went top speed where his foundations remained unshaken he would be able to reach grade 9 in a mere six months. Of course that sounds great and all but it would make him the weakest of grade 9. Sure he would be able to reach higher levels but when he thoughts about this stupidly broken 'original'.

He was scared at the thought of being squashed by the users of other 'originals'. And so he thought and adjusted. After a week of thinking and adjusting he made a legacy that he felt satisfied with.

He borrowed the idea of compression. Thanks to that the legacy basically absorbed the energy which every being uses. Mages transform it into mana and Cultivators into Qi. Warriors use it to reinforce their body and create something similar to cultivators core to store energy and unleash their skills with it.

He also didn't only include the idea of compression but the powers of all three power systems. Thanks to people not knowing what they have affinity for i.e. warriors, mages and cultivators, all of them have basics at home.

At least the ones with some power. Unless it is the Continent of God no one really cares about people having affinity of a cultivator whilst being on a continent of warriors and mages.

They could just simply apply and transfer to the different continent. Of course once a person gets to a certain level of power the changes to their body strengthens their descendants too. Making it unlikely for them to have affinity for something else, but strong affinity for e.g. cultivation only.

But the families still keep the basics. Which powerful family wouldn't want to have a branch in another power system right? Thanks to that there are some really powerful families having the branches of warriors, mages and cultivators combined.

This is also one of the reasons why the continent of God isn't able to strike both continents. You could say they are both tightly bonded but at the same time on the verge of war.

And so with the basics Max got even more choices. He even learned the reason of why the once in a millennia genius refused to trek the path of mages.

Simply put mages learn from the ancient runes. The runes originally owned by Dragons. Thanks to that humans basically added another hierarchy in the dragon's hierarchy system. There bloodline matters and when humans have 0 it makes them weaker than even the weakest's of bloodlines.

Thanks to that mages are never truly able to hunt dragons as they are under the suppression. This is also the reason for the magical immunity misconception. It is not that they are immune to it, it is simply because they are using an inferior version against the real owner.

But the hexagon was something that maybe only the most powerful of dragons could contend with. And thanks to that Max borrowed the ability to manipulate elements as freely as mages do.

He also borrowed the strength of cultivators with that he had large energy reserves and was later able to comprehend laws to an extreme level as cultivators do.

And with the warriors in the mix he created a masterpiece of all power systems.

The legacy automatically absorbed energy around it and strengthened the potential and foundations of the body. It absorbed it in such unique and miniscule way that even if a rank 9 warrior or a cultivator comparable to rank 9 warriors stood next to him they wouldn't be able to feel the energy concentrating around him.

And to counteract the weakness of absorbing a small amount of energy he just compensated with the distance from where he could absorb the energy from.

At grade 1 of the technique he will be able to absorb energy within a 1 km radius. But that isn't the only purpose. As it absorb the energy within it's designated radius, it is also able to detect strong energies making it effectively impossible to ambush him.

You could call it a passive. With that there are few active modes Max can train in. While in the active state the passive changes to boost the efficiency of the active state even further. The first one he called the suppression of the World.

While in that state he effectively is suppressed. While in suppression his body is tempered and so is his will. The second active mode is the absorption which splits into the following. Absorption that absorbs rare materials to strengthen the body and Energy absorption where it is used to breakthrough a stage and expands energy reserves.

Another one he called enlightened mode. In which he uses energy to boost his brain capacity to speed up his comprehension. There is a passive mode where it just absorbs energy normally like his passive usually does and another is active.

Active either uses his own energy reserves or the ones within rare materials.

Next up is full meditation mode where he rapidly absorbs energy in the air. Usually it is enough to compress half the absorption rate which the passive usually does. With that any energy within that area is easily absorbed.

Of course the more dense the energy the more Max needs to compress the area to fully absorb every single drop of energy.

One of the last two techniques is the Flesh forging. Using any kind of elemental or dangerous environment that damages the body Max can use his energy to rapidly heal and adapt his body against that environment.

Thanks to that he can gain resistances to various elemental energies and evil influences that affect the body and temper his flesh making himself a living weapon.

Another good thing about Flesh forging is that he can use it in a safe environment however he wants. Thanks to that he can heal his body of almost any great injury.

'Godly medicines? Fuck that!' Grinned Max as he thought about this great addition.

And finally to top it all off there is a final addition. Imaginary space, as he calls it. This technique can be combined with enlightenment mode to speed up the process but it takes a lot of energy to do so.

Inside this imaginary space time goes 3x faster than in the normal world. As the legacy gets more and more overpowered and shows it's potential the speed will increase. Which will consume even more energy.

If Max decides to do so he can eve go up to 1000x the speed of the normal world. The problem he just needs to solve is enough energy. But as the legacy is comprehended more and more the energy needed will be less and less.

With that he created a legacy he is truly proud of. Though one big problem arose.

'What should I name this?' Pondered Max

'I wanted to name it as an all encompassing divine technique primordial but because the three power systems do not have a way to grow a soul it would be shameless to call it that. Hmm let's go with Three Dao technique. Simple yet truthful and if people really ask me they will think I am a cultivator hehehe.' Grinned Max evilly as he wanted to con some arrogant young masters.

And with the technique done he had more benefits from the hexagon. What kind of heaven shattering artifact would it be if it was so weak?

First of all it gave a storage system that seemingly stretched beyond infinity. Of course living things could not be transferred within. Living things were defined as any creature or an object that managed to form a soul.

And for the living things there is another function. Sadly it's locked because he needs a powerful energy system to make it habitable.

Of course it's usefulness doesn't end! Any kind of profession such as pill making in the Eastern continent could be easily summed up into a technique like the Three Dao technique. It is however only within the limits of the known grades that Max can get.

Another function is it's encyclopedia. All he needs to do is to get a herb book and mineral book and flip it once. With that all the information would be stored within. And later used to identify automatically herbs and minerals found by Max.

With this seemingly useless but at the same time most powerful function Max passed his mother's test like a breeze. As he stored all the needed information that his mother wanted him to know before he goes.

With that he can even use encyclopedia to scan a map and it's surroundings to create a live 24/7 mini map he can access at any time.

Sometimes Max wondered if it was too overpowered but when he thought about it being one of the most powerful artifacts it should be at least good as this right?

There is a final function that he has access to. It reminded him of the Horadric cube from Diablo II.

He can synthesize three weaker materials to create one more pure and powerful one. That included herbs, minerals and condensed energies that the three power systems use to progress faster.
