[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]
...
A cool morning breeze passed through a few guards on the walls of the Lakeside Town.
These guards were scouting the area, looking for any unusual activity that they were warned with a week ago. The warning was no false alarm, but even then, very few guards were lazing around or sleeping at early morning.
The guards have already eaten their breakfast 30 minutes ago, just like the many townspeople and students.
"Hey, Patrick! Why are you still watching there? You could have just rested for a while." One of the guards said rather lazily while sitting on the ground.
Patrick did not say anything and just watched. The senior guard noticed something in the distance, the trees were swaying from far away and a massive flock birds living there fled from the forest.
Noticing this as a great sign of danger, he ran towards the nearby bell and started to hit it with a stick rhythmically and loudly. Once he stopped, he looked at the town, and began to hear a few bells ringing.
Several minutes later, many people marched out from their houses and from the inn all armed and ready to defend the town. They were the knights, adventurers, mages, and priests that Satoru had personally trained.
And as expected, many flying creatures appeared from the mountains and armies of mana beasts also appeared that had the intention to leave none in the town alive.
"Men! Ready your positions! Today, we shall defend the town with all our lives!" One of them shouted, and the morale of the others were boosted.
A few mages were chanting a powerful spell together, hoping that the monsters numbers would fall sharply while they were being protected by the priests who all used different protection spells towards the mages and the soldiers.
It wasn't long before archers fired explosive arrows and many other mages that did not participate in chanting together fired low level spells to severely injure 2,000 mana beasts in one turn and kill 300 of them. They continued to fire arrows until the mages are exhausted and the archers have depleted their arrows, killing 4,381 mana beasts and injuring 13,000 in the process.
They were all 550 strong, defending against thousands of mana beasts, hoping that the otherworldly saints come back from their training period before it's too late. They also hoped that what the God of Magic taught the mages would be incredibly useful.
The defenders were sheerly outnumbered, as if there was no end to the waves of beasts at all.
However, they were at luck because the mages that were going to cast a powerful magic spell were almost done.
"... Oh divine spirits of the elements, please bring down your wrath upon our enemies! [Elemental Tempest]!" They all finished casting at the same time as the arrays that were above them had fused into one massive array surrounded by a myriad of colors. It wasn't as strong as the God of Magic's own when he explained to them, but it should get most of their job done. After they did cast the spell, 38 out of 50 mages had collapsed with their mana dried out and left them unconscious.
The array turned into a white orb that launched itself towards the middle of the wave of mana beasts, before becoming a powerful tornado that threatens to devour amd destroy everything in it's path.
Mana beasts amd trees were pulled into the colorful hurricane that was the wrath of 4 elements combined.
However, it did not disperse, rather, it turned into a small ball of light that proceeded to explode afterwards.
This wave was over.
Every person that fought to protect the town was tired and exhausted.
30 of them had already died fighting bravely, 200 were injured from the mana beasts and the rest were still fine with barely any injuries.
Thousands of mana beasts died, but the destruction was everywhere.
It was necessary to defeat the wave of mana beasts.
That was until the smoke cleared and that the exhausted soldiers and mages had become fear stricken.
"The.... There's more of them?!" One of the priests yelled in fear, still exhausted from the earlier battle.
"Our only hope are the otherworldly heroes, the God of Magic, the Goddess of Good Harvest and her dragon." A templar knight sighed out, hoping that anytime sooner would they appear.
"Reinforcements are here!" They heard a voice from nearby, and looked to see that Satoru's group had arrived.
They weren't different from last time, except the change of clothing, and strange artifacts on their hands.
"You know what to do." Satoru said calmly, before puffing a smoke from the cigarette away from the group.
The students, Melusine, and Tio proceeded forward, before readying themselves to transform.
"Henshin!" The male students shouted, while the others silently activated their transformations.
Another huge battle was about to start.
