The Basics of System

The 21 year old grandpa looked at me and asked, "Your Highness, Prince Edgar, May I know if I could be of any help to you?"

Hearing him I nodded and said, "Yes, can you lead me to the library!"

With a confused face Alfred stated, "Prince Edgar, I think it's not that good of an idea to go to library at this moment. Let me take you to your room for you to take some rest. You have to have a good rest until the main physician comes back. After he treats you, you can go to library any time you want! Prince's safety is our top priority that's why I can't let you go to library!"

He looked like a stubborn person so I didn't want to argue with him. It's better to agree with him or he might even karate chop me and take my unconscious body away. I nodded towards him and asked, "If I can't go to library can you bring me some books?"

Alfred nodded and in a confident tone answered, "I can bring anything you desire!"

"Then bring me some history books, books about systems, books about current nations and kingdoms, also bring me some of your favorite history books!" I said hurriedly.

Alfred nodded and said, "Everything will be shortly delivered to your room! Now can you please follow me back towards your room. Your safety is our utmost responsibility!"

After he said that he started to walk and I followed him. Five to seven minutes later I arrived back to my room. I opened the door and saw the familiar setting. I walked towards my bed and saw the sleeping beauty. Mary was still asleep next to my bed.

Looking around the room I arrived before the window. Looking at the outside world I knew that it wasn't the modern world that I arrived to. Outside of my window I can only see gigantic towers and small castles all around me. The little people I saw all wore medieval armors and other medieval clothes. It seems this world is loosely based on medieval times.

I wanted to go to library to do a little research before I leave this castle. I can't stay here or else I feel like something bad will happen.

After briefly looking out of window I walked towards my bed and again looked at Mary. She was still sound asleep. Her sleeping face would change occasionally sometimes she looked worried, sometimes sad, and sometimes joyful. Her face was mesmerizing.(A.N: This Mc is kinda creepy. Don't do this in real life, never look over a sleeping girl.)

I had nothing to do and I was soon really bored. As a child of twenty first century it was unimaginable for me to live without my cell phone.

But thankfully I didn't have to wait any longer because the books arrived. Someone knocked on the door and I told him to enter. The person who entered wasn't Alfred nor was it any other butler. He was an evil looking person who was with the king.

Whenever I looked at him I felt goosebumps all over my body. He was very intimidating because of his tall body and dark clothes. Following him was one more person. It was a young man in his twenties. The young man was wearing a fancy suit adorned in gold. He was a typical example of a snobbish noble. The evil looking person and a snobbish looking noble complimented each other. Their group was the textbook example of scheming nobles. I have to be careful of them. I feared them but it also ignited my curiosity so I tried viewing their system Interface. Soon after I thought about it a semi transparent screen appeared. The one next to evil looking man said:

When I saw Francis's semi transparent system interface I was quite shocked. From the outside he looks like a typical noble but in actuality he was a slave. That's what people mean when they say don't judge a book by its cover.

When I was in deep thought I heard an evil voice. The voice said, "Prince Edgar I brought you the books you asked for. When I was in the library the chief butler Alfred entered to find the books you asked for. I volunteered to bring them to you." After he said that he moved towards the table next to my bed. He moved his hands and books appeared out of nowhere on the table.

Then he looked at his back towards Francis. Looking at him he said, "Francis can you please leave the room." Francis nodded and left the room.

After Francis left, Morman looked at me and said, "Sir Rodney? Was this your name?"

When I heard that my heart stopped. His evil looking face was really terrifying.

Looking at my terrified face he smiled and said, "You don't have to be so scared Sir Rodney, I'm not gonna eat you."

"Sir Rodney, at first I really thought you were our Prince Edgar but after looking over the books you requested I'm quite sure you're not from this world. The history of Stacia Kingdom, Basics of Systems, Twelve upper and twelve lower gods, Basic history of Hokrera continent and so on. All those books are basics that even five year old would know. Also prince Edgar hated reading, Alfred didn't know anything like that because he was hired five years ago. Prince Edgar would've never read something he already knew." Said Morman.

He paused for a minute and said, "Sir Rodney I have something to ask you! Can you please pretend to be Prince Edgar. Not for me or yourself but for the King and Princess. Prince Edgar was absent for ten years and...."

Before he could finish I said, "It's impossible!"

Morman looked at me and said, "Pretending to be a Prince could bring you countless riches and..."

"Stop!" I yelled when he tried to say something again.

"I don't want to be someone's substitute!" I said stubbornly.

Morman sighed and left the room.

After he left the room I walked towards the table full of books and opened the first book titled "Basics of Systems"

The only thing in this world I could rely on is my system and to use it to its full capacity I have to learn everything about it.(A.N: Finally after 12 chapters we gonna learn about systems).
