Apocalyptic World: I've Got The Second System

Seventeen-year-old Seth's mundane existence takes an astonishing twist when he hears a divine proclamation from God. The world teeters on the edge of an apocalyptic event, but instead of the typical chaos and destruction, God transforms it into a challenge. A challenge where every human receives a unique system and concealed abilities, all in the name of survival. "Shit! What should I do?" I could hardly hear my own voice as I faced imminent death. In the midst of the darkness, a woman's voice taunted me. "What an intriguing human, on the verge of death, aren't you?" Yes, I am! Please, stop talking and let me pass in peace. "How about I offer you a chance? You need to help me escape, and I believe you're the only one who can." How could I possibly do that? "Yes, yes, just form a pact with me. I'll grant you the victory you desire most, and in return, I'll gain my freedom. But it won't be without a cost. I'll bestow upon you the Ouroboros curse." Are you seriously presenting me with this choice while I'm on the brink of death? Ugh, do I even have a choice? As I resolved to accept, I heard a voice. In the Jaws of Danger

How on earth did that monster find us?! Could it have been because of the eggs that Matthias was carrying!? Did that dinosaur simply want its eggs back?!

Or maybe this was just The Prince of Chaos did!?

I ran back to Arnold, only for him to put out his samurai, and said, "We will defeat it!"

There was no way we could even do that! What the hell was he thinking?! First of all, that thing's jaw was strong, if we had our skill it would be easier, hell T-Rex was the first monster I would hunt because of the killing point.

But, with this power? No way I wouldn't do that. I wasn't even sure if my bullet would pierce through that monster!

"Arnold was right, we couldn't just stand here!" Matthias said with his staff.

I looked at him with a 'are you kidding me!' look, but he acted like he didn't understand me at all.

"You're with us right, Seth?" Arnold looked at me, with that grey menacing eyes. Why the hell does he look so cool?

At this point, I couldn't refuse Arnold's offer. There was something about him that gave me confidence in our ability to overcome the T-Rex.

I also felt a sense of responsibility for both of them. The chaos that The Prince of Chaos brought seemed to be at the root of all these problems, and I couldn't let them pay the price for it.

"Fine!" I reluctantly agreed. I felt like I had no other choice, even though I could have just run.

The look in Arnold's eyes seemed to say, "We're going to face this challenge together," and it was surprisingly convincing. If there was a charming aspect to this game's system, Arnold's charm must have been off the charts.

The T-Rex made its move, lunging at us. Felt lucky that The Prince of Chaos was still activated, of course just the remaining 3 minutes. Damn it! I need to do something fast.

When the creature lowered its head, I aimed for its eye and fired, but missed by an inch. It caused the T-Rex pain but didn't stop it.

Arnold, on the other hand, slashed at the beast's body, further enraging it. Matthias did his best to attack its limbs with his staff. The creature was getting even more out of control.

The T-Rex moved uncontrollably, crashing into trees and making it hard for us to find a safe spot to take it down.

But fortunately, the three of us could dodge it easily. Because even when our skills couldn't be used, our attributes were still the same.

If Jayden were here, it would be the end of that monstrous creature.

But still, it was so big that it made a couple of trees fall, making us harder to find a good place to strike it down.

"Damn, that thing won't stop moving," said Arnold. "I have an idea Seth, but don't mess it. Because I will die because of it," he said suddenly, making me nervous.

"Sure, but don't die on me." I nodded, I didn't want to be guilty because of the death of someone.

After giving the instructions, I handed Arnold my short sword, which was more suitable for this kind of maneuver than a long sword.

I had intended to give him my revolver or my other gun, but those items had vanished by the time I tried to pass them to him. It seemed that the weapon from the banner couldn't be used by different classes.

The two of us moved in a different direction. Arnold was in front of it while I was in its side.

"Hey! Come here you dumb fuck!" said Arnold while waving his hands.

It closed in on Arnold with a furious glare, one eye half-closed, and bloodstains all over its massive body. It was seething with anger.

Without hesitation, it opened its enormous jaws to devour Arnold, catching half of his body. Matthias panicked, realizing we'd forgotten to brief him about Arnold's bold plan. Ah well, it's too late anyway.

In his panic Matthias made valiant efforts to attack the dinosaur's head, his staff underwent a fire attribute change, setting the forest ablaze. The situation became even more chaotic as the flames spread rapidly.

I shouted, "Stop it, Matthias! You're making it worse!"

"But Arnold is inside that thing!" Matthias yelled, still trying to attack.

"Just stop and look at him!"

Arnold, showing remarkable resilience, continued using my short sword to wedge the creature's jaw open, enduring excruciating pain. This sight finally compelled Matthias to cease his attacks.

Seizing the opportunity, I sprang onto the T-Rex's head from the branch of a fallen tree, double-barrel shotgun in hand. With each pull of the trigger, I blasted away at the creature's skull, firing repeatedly until I lost count.

Maintaining balance on top of the T-Rex was far from easy. The experience felt like being in a twisted rodeo, only much more terrifying and nauseating due to the creature's colossal strength.

Thanks to Arnold's incredible sacrifice and his way of stabbed the jaw from inside, we successfully subdued the beast. It gradually weakened and collapsed. With haste, I approached Arnold, who was still within the beast's maw.

He managed to pull himself free, standing amidst the bloodstained scene. Matthias rushed to his side, his face etched with concern.

"No worries, it was the T-Rex blood." he said giving back my short sword.

It was a lie since I could saw the wound because of that thing teeth. I mean looked at that creature! Not only it body was big, also his teeth too!

Your sacrifice would always be remembered Arnold. You're the most coolest person that I meet in the apocalypse.

The three of us then take a rest in one of the tree. Matthias with his spatial bag, ready with heal potion and give it to Arnold.

Arnold sighed and said, "You guys are the best player I've meet. Bravo for the three of us!" he clapped.

I know, it was kind of weird to do this, but damn he was cool! I almost cried, while Matthias already carried

"I'm sorry for being so useless," Matthias said, his voice filled with regret.

"It's fine, you've done your best in this situation. I'm incredibly grateful for your contribution," Arnold replied, giving him a thumbs-up.

Matthias wiped away his tears, deeply moved by Arnold's words. I too felt a newfound respect for Arnold. His presence had been a guiding light in these dark hours.

We decided to take a break while waiting for the final puzzle to appear. We were all exhausted, having to maintain constant vigilance, not just against dinosaurs but also other players who might try to steal our eggs.

Arnold, being the selfless individual he was, even helped some people with their eggs. Personally, I didn't care much about helping others. In this game, there were no penalties, so why bother?

I particularly didn't want to activate The Prince of Chaos again. Its effects were clear when I observed people turning on each other, both players and dinosaurs, creating utter chaos.

Matthias, however, seemed to be particularly affected. What should have been minor problems turned into major issues due to his irrational actions. It was a challenging time with tempers flaring and nerves fraying.

Then, the sound of the system was announced the last riddle:

[I touch the sky with rocks so high,]

[Where eagles soar and clouds float by.]

[The world below, a distant view,]

[From my lofty perch, the skies are blue.]

[Where am I?]

That must be somewhere high, like mountain. There was only a mountain here and it was in the heart of the forest.

I sighed, realizing the only way I could reach that place was through climbing. To make matters worse, climbing offered no safety; falling would likely be a death sentence.

***

This kind of maneuver impossible to do in real life. The T-Rex jaw is so strong, basically the one of hardest-biting animal in the word. It could crush your body into pieces if it ever bite you.

But, this is a fiction so, just enjoy it XD

I hope you enjoy this chapter!
