Bai Meiyue glanced at Lei Qian before saying, "I am a bit tired, CEO Lei. We will talk next time if we get a chance."
She had no desire to entangle with Lei Qian, nor did she have any expectations from him. After living and surviving in the post-apocalyptic world, Bai Meiyue knew that having expectations from someone else other than oneself was a sure short way to die.
Thus, she didn't care about whether her words would offend Lei Qian or not.
Once she finished speaking, she closed the door on Lei Qian's face.
Lei Qian looked at the closed door and felt heartbroken. Sure enough, he had offended the other person. Not only did he take advantage of her but also said harsh words to her; it was thus not a surprise that Bai Meiyue was chasing him away.
He turned to look at his assistant and asked, "Did you prepare the money that I asked for earlier?" Since Bai Meiyue disliked him, he should at least try to make up to her. He had no expectations when it came to receiving her forgiveness, but he should at least try to make it up to her.
The assistant's eyes widened before he replied, "We have arranged for it; soon the money will be transferred to your account."
Lei Qian nodded and asked the assistant to hurry up; he had already hurt and offended Bai Meiyue enough. If he was delayed in offering the compensation, who knows what Bai Meiyue might think of him?
However, watching the closed door of the apartment that was not far from his, Lei Qian was slightly excited. Bai Meiyue was going to be his neighbour from now on?
Inside the penthouse.
Bai Meiyue was walking around the newly bought house that she was not familiar with. She was holding a notepad and pen in her hands while noting things down. Though the apocalypse was still two months and a half away, Bai Meiyue did not think that there was enough time.
She had to prepare for the disasters that would soon start all over the world. And she had to start preparing from her home. She walked briskly around the penthouse before noting down everything that needed to be changed and replaced.
Bai Meiyue had no use for this exquisite apartment; what she wanted was a place that could withstand the tsunami and the zombie waves.
She walked upstairs and noted down the things that she wanted, including mesh to cover the windows. Though the penthouse had its own furniture, the mattress on the bed was way too hard, not at all comfortable for a pregnant woman to sleep on.
She had to change the bedsheet, the air purifier, and everything else in the penthouse to make it friendly for a pregnant woman. The smooth floor needed to be covered with a carpet, or else the chances of slipping would increase.
Bai Meiyue knew that she was strong enough to protect her son, but she still refused to take the slightest bit of risk.
Rumble.
Bai Meiyue frowned. She raised her hand and rubbed her stomach; she raised her head and looked at the time.
Uh oh.
It was way past her lunch time.
"Sorry baby," Bai Meiyue looked down at her flat belly before saying, "Mom made you unhappy; don't worry, I will feed you something good."
Bai Meiyue had yet to adapt to her ordinary status.
Once the doomsday starts plague, disasters and humans who have turned into zombies would rule that hopeless world. And as a result, humans would awaken as supernatural beings.
These mutated beings could awaken supernatural skills, like they could use fire, water, and even earth and wood. Some could change themselves into the form of beasts, or some could actually eat metals and turn their bodies into that very metal.
Bai Meiyue, who awakened as a water user, didn't need to eat like a normal person. She could survive even if she drank a few drops of dew or condensed water, if Bai Meiyue didn't have this skill, then she would have died in the hands of those greedy bastards who ate all the rations that she brought back or won.
It was because of her supernatural skills that she was fine even after not eating anything for days.
Bai Meiyue was used to living like this, and thus she didn't even notice that it had been more than six hours since she last ate anything.
However, as soon as she rushed down the kitchen, she realised that there was nothing inside the refrigerator. It was new and never used; thus, the second she opened it, a gust of plastic smell wafted over to her, making her nauseous.
Slightly annoyed with her mistake, Bai Meiyue closed the refrigerator and then headed out of the house. Filling her stomach was her priority; thus, she did not waste her time and headed out of the penthouse before taking the elevator and heading over to the small restaurant that was not far from the building.
Once she reached the restaurant, Bai Meiyue called the server and asked for a large serving of pork belly and rice, including eel noodles and chicken soup.
She also asked for a bowl of soup dumplings.
The waiter was quite surprised when he heard her order. He looked at her petite body and knew that the woman would soon regret ordering so much food.
He couldn't help but remind her, "Miss, once your food is prepared, you cannot return it or pack it. We do not offer this service."
They were a small restaurant and didn't have so many facilities and servers.
"You don't have to worry about it," Bai Meiyue, who hadn't eaten such a good meal for ages, smiled and said to the waiter, "Since I have ordered these things, naturally I will eat it all."
Since she had said so, there was nothing that the waiter could do; he could only go ahead and bring the food that he had ordered.
"What are you doing?"
