Chapter 6 - Mana Bomb

Without much further thought, Kiel immediately turned around and started to run.

The hundred meters long Gharl was probably the Gharl King. 

Usually, the king of a race was multiple times bigger than its subjects. It was slowly waking up and if Kiel did not get away in time, he would soon be smashed to meat paste with a slap.

Cursing he called out his status window, going for the quickest power up, Kiel shouted:

"All free points to Stamina"

He then felt a surge of power and another system prompt

"Stamina stat has reached 20 points, skill upgraded:

Basic Health Recovery(2): wounds heals faster, 20%"

Kiel then called out again to check on the level progression

Kiel cursed at the damn system.

How the hell was he supposed to clear this shit, now he had to kill a Gharl King AND survive another four days being chased to do Hell Clear.

Thinking back, that African man, Theodore did not exactly last two months and he should not have been able to kill this big monster too.

But Kiel is indignant. He had been rebirthed, came so far, spent so much effort, was he supposed to give up just like this????

NO!!

There must be a way. Calm down and focus on getting away first.

He heard the earth rumble and the tremor was getting closer behind him. Obviously that Gharl must have locked on to him.

It was very angry he knew that kiel must have stolen and used the skill orb.

It was bewildering. It remembered that when he tried to swallow God's gift, his body exploded. How did this little thing survive? 

However it had just awakened, its mind and body was very sluggish and weak. Years of hibernation had made it feeble and its muscle had atrophied.

It recalled that it had been cursed by the gods for failing to absorb the skill orb. His next opportunity to attempt should be just months away.

It felt strongly indignant and was very jealous. The God's gift should have been his and yet this little thing seemed to easily absorb it 

After so many years of waiting and hoping to be able to consume the skill orb this stupid creature had taken away everything it had dreamt of.

Now it needed to vent. It wanted to destroy everything and swallow the little human up.

After taking 20 steps the Gharl King collapsed in a heap. Just 1 more step and it could snap at the little creature in its mouth. But to its confusion and utter terror, it could not move.

The burst of movement took away what little strength it had. Every part of its body was in pain and its body was like a desert, devoid of even a drop of mana. 

It frantically tried to absorb the surrounding mana to the mana core in its head. It needed to get mana flowing in its body to power him again.

Physically it is very hard for creatures of such proportion to move and sustain itself, hence most had adapted to augment mana in their body to support its actions and movements.

Seeing that the beast collapsed in a heap. Kiel knew a rare opportunity had come and there wouldn't be any second chances.

He had to take the opportunity to kill the Gharl King now else if it recovered its strength it would be Kiel's turn to die.

As he cautiously approached the beast he was constantly on the lookout worried that the beast was just pretending. 

However, when he walked up to it, the Gharl King remained motionless

Pulling out his Miao Dao, he stabbed the Gharl King but no matter what he did he just couldn't penetrate its thick armored scale..

Kiel tried to stab at the beast eye, but even then it was futile.

Frustrated, he slashed wildly at the beast but all he left was thin white scars on the beast scales.

A full hour later he collapsed in utter exhaustion while lamenting the futility of it all.

As he lie down on the grass he could sense that the beast was slowly but surely gaining its strength.

He had no time to lose yet there was nothing he could do.

He called up the status window as well as the level progression window but there was nothing that can help.

Then he look at his inventories and the only thing he had left were the 42 Mana Core.

A crazy idea brew. He decided he would make mana bombs with all 42 cores. It should do the trick

Although he had not acquired the engraving skill yet he knew exactly what he had to do based on his previous 10 years of learning the craft.

He had to make the gamble or else he won't have any chances left.

He spent two whole days carving all 42 mana bombs. Initially he made a lot of mistakes and had to shave some of the carving away but eventually he got it all done.

He tested one of the worst mana bonbs at the eye of the Gharl king. It blew up successfully but the damage wasn't satisfactory.

So he decided while the beast was still completely immobile he would inspect every single inch of it and find where would be the best to place the bunch of mana bombs.

He spent a good afternoon on it and eventually found a crevice just by the back of its cranium.

He looked at the level progression and found that he had approximately one and a half day left.

Kiel knew he couldn't wait any longer as the Gharl King was showing signs of recovery.

He stabbed his sword into the cranium hoping to be able to carve deep into the massive beast head to plant all the bombs there. Yes, Kiel went all in. All or nothing.

Lo and behold the scale was thin and he managed to puncture the crevice. He was struggling, to make the cut, it was tough but he continue to cut on.

As he cut into it he can felt the beast tremble underneath his legs and he felt the beast struggle to move was even stronger than before.

He wasted no more time and cast "Power Boost(2)" and expended every single drop of power he had pushed the sword in and carved it out chunks of meat.

After approximately 5 minutes 30 seconds, he managed to carve until he hit bones.

At his current strength, those were impossible to break through.

Feeling he had done his best, he shoved all 41 mana bombs trigger them and as they reach critical mass. He hauled ass.

After about 10 seconds…

BOOOOOM!!!!

A massive explosion blasted Kiel off his legs and he went rolling down the body of the beast

Feeling his head ringing, he struggled to look up. He could see that the beast's eyes were vacant, he paid closer attention and saw that the beast was still barely breathing.

All that effort and explosions had not killed it. It was only knocked out by the explosion.

Collecting himself, he crawled back up into the crevice to inspect his art work.

Yes, explosion is an art. Just like fireworks or Hollywood pyro scenes.

Everything was charred, Kiel peer to look inside the open wound, he could see bits of bones and the brain was exposed.

He could see some scorched mark on the brain.

It was a wonder the Beast was still breathing

The cooldown to his Power Boost was still too long and Kiel was getting impatient.

He charged in and started to slash wildly. Cutting and shaving bits and pieces of the brains off. All the while the Gharl King was trembling faintly.

Half way through, he found a stemlike fibrous material, suspecting it was the part that connects the spinal column to the brain, he hacked with all his strength.

Eventually, he cut it through.

Before long he finally heard a stream of system prompts he had been waiting for.

"Gharl King killed, 1,000 experience gained."

"Level Up. You are now level 10.

You gained:

All Stat +1

Free stat + 2"

"You have killed the final boss of the level you are rewarded with an item."

After hearing that, Kiel felt an immeasurable relief, all of his stress faded away and he fainted in exhaustion.

When he woke up it was already dawn, feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. 

Satisfied, he called out his status window and his level progression window.

He looked up his level progression window and he realized he had 2 days left to survive in this hell hole. 

@#$#@ Not so Fragile… that assessment really got on his nerves. Turning blind to the assessment. He admired his own progress so far.

Looking at his status window he couldn't help but give in to some of his OCD tendencies.

The blue window refreshed and it now show

He recalled he was supposed to receive an item. Searching around, he found the item lying down next to him, taking a closer look, he recognised the item and he was thrilled. He had picked up something very useful.
