Chapter 40 - Escaping Hooligans

Soeyoon had graduated with a doctor's degree before she was talent scouted to be a pop star when a recruiting agent heard and saw her as she was singing karaoke with her friends.

Initially, she had been reluctant to accept the offer but her then boyfriend had pushed her to take up the offer and she had relented.

Ironically, when she was about to debut, the agency forced her to break up with her boyfriend.

It had been an ugly breakup.

Spiteful, she performed and sang with all her heart and it won the nation's heart.

Her girl band became a global sensation.

While she did not become a doctor, she had been pretty satisfied with the sisterhood in the band as well as the good money she made.

The adoration from the fans and her admirers had made the introverted little girl bloom like a flower in spring.

Her shy personality, delicate features and voluptuous body was a killer combo with her raspy sexy voice that made the imagination of all men go wild.

However on the day she was supposed to debut a solo song everyone was teleported to the tower.

When she arrived in the great nothingness and was asked to choose a weapon, she had subconsciously chosen a bow and arrows.

A hobby she picked up while she was in highschool.

Appearing on the grassland, she had been shocked and when carefully explored her surroundings.

It was when she stumbled upon a sleeping Gharl that she felt chill down her spines.

It was a terrifying monster, it was just like an alligator, with its big long snout, body covered with spiked armour and long spiked tail. However, it had much longer and muscular legs.

She had once seen how fast an alligator can run in an online video with their short legs.

With legs this long and muscular, Soeyoon understood that she stood no chance outrunning these monsters.

That transmigrating story her nerdy co-star had loved to read had become a reality.

Soeyoon wondered if that wimpy girl could survive.

Shaking useless thoughts out of her mind, Soeyoon slowly aimed her bow.

Slowly and carefully, taking care not to make any noise she knocked the arrow and drew.

When the bow reached three quarters of its maximum capacity, she no longer had the strength to pull, so she readjusted her aim, compensated for the winds and released the arrow.

That twang must have alerted the sleeping Gharl. 

Fortunately for Soeyoon, she had only been 5 metres away and it did not give the Gharl much time to react. 

When the monster opened its eyes, the arrow had already penetrated its eyes and was destroying its brain before coming out from the side.

"Adult Gharl killed, 35 experience gained"

Her eyes glowed as she heard the prompt.

As she approached the dead monster. She confirmed that it was not a being of the earth as she knew it.

She was not on earth. Her sore arms reaffirmed that this was not a dream.

This was just like the game her boyfriend loved to play.

Kill monsters, level up, get stuff and become powerful.

Contemplating the condition she was in, she gained some understanding of the game-like structure of the tower.

Convincing herself to be brave, Soeyoon continued to explore while trying to be quiet and careful so she could sneak up on the monsters.

She had been lucky and encountered another Gharl that was resting. Killing it, she heard the System prompt which let her choose to leave, Soeyoon was super excited and almost immediately chose to leave. 

However, thinking that she might have to continue like this again and again, she thought back about her ex. 

He had the habit of farming and making the most of every dungeon level before proceeding through the game.

According to him, maximising his gains in the current levels would make the next level easier. Reluctantly, she decided to stay back and farm for more kills and experience.

Making effective use of the terrain and her agile body, she had gotten a lot of easy kills as her arms grew stronger with each level up.

It wasn't long before her luck ran out.

She had encountered a group of Gharls and before she realised it, they had caught on to her.

She had fought with everything but still lost.

When she was hit by the tail of one of the Gharl, she was sent flying.

The pain was so bad she had almost blacked out.

As she struggled to get up, she saw the Gharls were rushing towards her.

She was doomed.

As she scrambled back to avoid the incoming Gharl while spamming arrows she saw that they were gaining on her. The sight of those monsters with wide open maw lined with a row of terrible fangs made her shudder and almost fell.

But she maintained her focus and kept her balance while trying to use the arrows to deter the beast futilely.

Just as the arrows in her quiver were running out she came across the dead body of a Gharl she killed and remembered the system prompt that she could leave.

She immediately screamed:

"LEAVE LEVEL NOW!!!!"

Then everything flashed white and she spawned in the great hall.

She was panting, exhausted and disoriented. The first thing she noticed was a green translucent window in front of her. 

"Level One, Standard Clear Completed.

Calculating rewards…

Basic Bow and Arrow(E) can now be brought out.

You will be teleported out now."

As she was paying attention to the status window, she saw a few hooligans out of the corner of her eyes were eyeballing her exposed skin through her tattered clothes.

Looking down, she noticed that her clothes were in tatters and a lot of her skin was exposed. 

Frowning, Soeyoon quickly got up and sneaked away between the crowd looking for a safe place to hide while searching for anyone she might have recognised.

As she walked, she heard the tower announced;

"The last survivor of Level One has returned.

Total of 2,837,926,641 survivors of 7,857,836,984 candidates were detected.

Next stage will begin in 5 minutes.

Please prepare yourself."

Wait, 5 billion people died??? What about her sisters from the band??? 

Then she saw a grey-haired boy about 16 years old spawning 50 metres away from her.

The sword he carried seemed fancy and she saw a bunch of guys were surrounding him.

Poor boy just got himself into deep trouble, she thought.

She had wanted to move away but the hooligans were following behind her so she had no choice but to continue forward while trying to stay away from that grey-haired boy. 

She vaguely heard some arguments between them then she saw the boy flashed past and everyone started to die.

It took less than 3 seconds and everything was over and that monster was standing in the middle of a pool of blood.

She was terrified and stood rooted on the spot while the hooligans caught up to her. 

They were just getting close when everyone started to run away from the mass murderer. 

Soeyoon was jolted awake by the hooligan who grabbed her but somehow she managed to shove the arm off and ran away to hide amongst the panicked crowd. 

Not long later, she heard the announcement again:

"Welcome to the Tower of Extinction, Humans. 

Our Universe is facing invasion from the Apocalypse. 

All worlds must contribute to survive. 

But your species are pitifully weak. 

So the gods will give you a chance to gain power.

Fight . Clear the tower. You live. 

Fail. Die. Extinction.

Only the worthy will survive..
