Chapter 16 - Blood Line Skill

At the time, Thorgen Angvil had uncovered a plot when he found an underground altar where humans were being sacrificed.

He lost it there and massacred all of the cronies there and destroyed the altar while rescuing the survivors there.

It then had taken him a lot of effort to discover the leads necessary to find the final mastermind.

After killing the necromancer responsible, he had obtained a mysterious "Inheritance Orb" from the necromancer's personal treasure stash.

Initially he had been reluctant to use it.

However, he did not feel any sinister death energy from the orb when he tried to sense it carefully.

Thorgen was born with a special skill "Extreme Mana Sense(S)" which had effectively allowed him to sense and control the mana.

This had allowed him to determine that the Orb was not related to necromancy.

Hence, he took the risk and activated the Inheritance Orb. As he needed to get stronger to defend humans impending from the Orcs invasion.

It was a decision he would regret bitterly.

He had been at the peak of his strength at level 20. Even that was barely enough.

He had lost almost all his stamina, mana points and lost his experience and his level had dropped down to level 10 when he activated the Orb.

Like Kiel, he could not level up and was left with no choice.

He had been reluctant to follow the Orb to this place.

Entering the Inheritance Ground, he had found another Master, a devastatingly beautiful woman by the name of Bing Bing Xue.

Thorgen had been smitten and fell in love at first sight. A first love nonetheless and tried to woo her only to be thoroughly smacked and beaten to submission.

Then his heart broke as he had to watch that first love turn old then die in a span of one month.

The 46 years old virgin. No. 16 year old virgin Kiel was absolutely jealous in the beginning, lamenting why he did not have such a good fate only to feel fortunate not having to go through that at the end of the story.

In hindsight getting trapped with a beautiful woman alone for a month could have led to…. Nah, fat chance.

This Inheritance Ground was heartless.

Once a new candidate entered, the previous candidate attempt was considered a failure.

The new candidate will gain immortality and the previous candidate will die in 1 month.

As Kiel heard the story. He looked at Thorgen and shivered.

Kiel was confident of his good looks.

Thorgen had been trapped here alone for centuries. He would not swing that way right?? Right??

Thorgen seemed to read what he thought and proceeded to give him the beating of his life.

Kiel never knew there could be such a difference in strength between both level 10.

Thorgen seemed to be resigned to his fate and decided to pass his legacy to Kiel.

According to Thorgen, after the old candidate dies, a new Orb of Inheritance will be formed and randomly appear outside, continuing the cycle.

Thorgen told Kiel that he was the last of his bloodline and he wanted to leave a legacy behind.

Kiel felt goosebumps and looked at Thorgen in terror.

"Sir, sadly I'm a man, I can't get pregnant…."

Before Kiel could continue. Thorgen smacked the shit out of him again.

Thorgen only stopped after he had completely vented his frustration. Could you imagine? Centuries of frustration building up? And meeting such fools!!

Walking away, Kiel heard him mutter under his breath:

"What the hell do youngsters nowadays have in their shit for brains…"

Kiel finally felt relieved. He had been beaten till he literally had a drop of life left. Oh, so that's how immortality works. His HP was "1/56". He lived.

After an hour, Kiel had recovered some health.

He got up and walked towards the hut. Thorgen walked out and said to him:

"Follow me…"

He followed like an obedient little duckling.

Thorgen proceeded to lead him to a beautiful clearing with a 20m wide long Rock Wall 5 minute walk from his hut.

There were numerous carvings of humanoids in different positions or mana channel circulations in the rock walls.

Thorgen proceeded to explain:

First, in the Inheritance Ground, there were 8 skills engraved on the stone wall by the lake.

He had to learn them all.

He pointed to the humanoid carving on the rock wall, he called it 'Skill Wall'. Those are indestructible.

Second, after learning all 8 skills, pull out the sword stabbed in the stone.

He then pointed to a sword stabbed in front of the rock wall.

Kiel took the opportunity and tried. He failed miserably.

Third, he could then obtain the SwordMage hidden class and use the sword to leave this Inheritance Ground.

He again pointed back to the direction of the entrance of the valley.

Thorgen lamented he wasn't talented enough and he had only managed to learn 5 after all these years.

Fourth, Thorgen will teach Kiel how to fight.

According to Thorgen, Kiel was utter rubbish. All forms, no essence…

Lastly, Thorgen would use a special method to pass Kiel his special bloodline skill "Extreme Mana Sense(S)".

Kiel did not know how to feel. He felt miserable being trapped here while also feeling excited at the prospects of learning to be as strong as the old man and learning new skills, even a bloodline skill.

He then took a careful look at the rock wall,

"Basic Swordsmanship(C)"

"Basic Mana Sense(C)"

"Spell Casting(B)"

"Basic Fire Blast(D)"

"Basic Electric Shock(D)"

"Basic Water Bullet(D)"

"Basic Vine Whip(D)"

"Steel Skin(E)"

Kiel was stunned for a while. Of the 8 skills he needed to master, he had actually acquired 4.

T/N: Extreme Regeneration(S) was the final form of Basic Regeneration(C)

T/N: Superior Mana Sense(A) was higher level than Basic Mana Sense(C)

Swordsman skill, 5 elemental skills, 2 basic skills required to cast the spells. A true basic recipe for Swordmage alright.

According to Thorgen, though he got the "Extreme Mana Sense(S)" he simply could not pick up "Spell Casting(B)" no matter how he tried. He had resigned to his fate.

This was the start of a miserable routine.

Every morning, he got up and received 'guidance' from Thorgen.

At noon, he went to the Rock Wall to learn and practice his skills.

Then in the afternoon another 'guidance' session.

By nightfall, Thorgen was busy preparing something in his hut. While Kiel was busy practicing spells.

By the end of the first day, Kiel took out his food and wine to try bribing Thorgen as he had barely survived the 'training'

The next morning, Kiel realized it was futile. To make the matter worse, Thorgen would pester him for food and wine for every breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Once he tried to refuse. The outcome was not pretty. Thorgen's special class left him wishing for death.

This continued for about 7 days. Kiel was bruised from the tip of his hair to the end of his toe nails.

But his improvement was obscene, and he had learned

"Basic Fire Blast(D): Blast a ball of fire to your enemy, 0.5 second Cast, 15 Mana"

"Basic heal(D): Cast Basic Heal: 10 Hit points, 0.5 second Cast, 10 Mana"

His other "Swordsman" skills had also improved.

Slash(4), Chop(3), Stab(3), Parry(3), Riposte(3),

After knowing he had "Basic Heal" the beating simply grew more intense.

On the tenth day, Kiel had just learned

"Basic Electric Shock(D): Light shock your enemy, 1 second Cast, 15 Mana"

When Thorgen came over and announced it was time to pass down the bloodline skill "Extreme Mana Sense(S)".
