Chapter 44

Carl was called late at night. He was outside of a house on a quiet lane about thirty miles from where he was currently living. His hand was on the handle of the back door and inside was a woman who he had been stalking for the last three weeks. His transformation had started but something very odd was happening. The claws which were forming changed back to ordinary nails.

Once the demon was out it was almost impossible to push it back inside unless he had killed. There were times when it obeyed his wishes, but that was when they were both in peril and it was in their best interests to hide. This time he had no idea why it had gone into retreat. Looking around to see what danger lurked, Carl had found nothing.
