Sneaking out

"YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Hi..... Nice to meet you"

The second meeting of both fiances started off with one of them trying to pummel the other, clearly seemed to be out of pure hatred.

<What the hell are you trying to pull!?> Theo

<Shut it dimwit!!!! Why did you just log off!? I wasn't finished talking!!!> Selene

<I get it but look around you and the situation dumba*s!> Theo

From an outsider's perspective, both Selene and Theo were just glaring at each other for a good minute as both of them huffed and puffed and sized the other party up.

Both of them did not realize that they were unconsciously communicating telepathically with each other.

Selene registered what Theo said and looked around and saw both her maid and butler of Theo staring at them dumbfounded by their actions.

"Uhhhhhh, Ehem sorry for my poor display sir Theodore. I, Selene, was eager to meet you and test out your outstanding martial prowess to authenticate all the rumors I've been graced upon. Hohohoho" Selene sweating bullets, trying to laugh off her earlier outburst.

She was also pissed that she had to apologize to Theo, it took everything in her power to try and cover her recent mistake.

"Hahaha, indeed I was surprised, but apologize no further and I hope this event today proved my strength to you, lady Selene"

Theo exaggeratingly said in a stiff voice as he scratched the back of his head in awkwardness, but was actually in glee hearing Selene's contradictory and obviously awkward apology.

Both servants became visibly confused and baffled at the sight of their masters' extremely unusual behavior. They could only stare agape, not knowing how to proceed forward and react to what their master's actions.

<Your f*cking terrible at acting, oh my god> Selene

<I don't want to hear that from you and stop blurting out profanities, your Selene now> Theo

<Since when did you have the right to order me around, TankDragon c*cksucker?> Selene

<Shut it and let's just end this for now meet up later at the garden, where "they" secretly, Red Blizzard> Theo

"Tch, Oh my! I'm starting to feel a little faint! Shall we continue this conversation tomorrow, Sir Theodore?"

Selene silently clicked her tongue, but smiled brightly at Theo.

"Oh, that's rather unfortunate. We can definitely meet again tomorrow"

<Be on time Dragon>

<You don't have to say it once Red>

Selene and Theo left the place swiftly and went to their respective rooms, leaving the two caretakers dumbfounded and at loss in the drawing room.

They would only snap out of their daze and follow their respective masters after a minute passed by.

They of course tried asking if their masters weren't feeling well and moved the meeting to another day.

Of course, both of them agreed and told them to move it the next day.

Selene and Theo were still in disbelief seeing that their eternal rival had reincarnated as well in Alethea.

All they could do was plan and think about how they were going to talk about it later.

....

..

..

.

Night came and two shadowy figures came out of their respective balconies sneakily.

Selene and Theo's rooms were the literal opposite of each other. In between their rooms was a gigantic garden that spanned about as large as a professional football field.

Selene and Theo stood face to face in the middle of the garden under the two shining moonlights.

"Hello there, Mr. Dragon it seems that your also in the same predicament as me"

"Indeed we are, Ms. Red"

Both glared at each other, as if they're looking at their destined nemesis, which might as well be. because of how much they dislike one another.

"So? Where should we start?" Theo asked, putting aside his grudge to discuss properly with Selene

Selene then clutched her head and crouched down, her face displaying with evident despair and sorrow.

Her attitude basically took a 180, from extreme anger, to extreme despair.

"We're going to die..... It's either I die or you die later.... There's no in between..."

".... True"

What made the game Legends of Alethea so compelling was its multiple routed endings and depending on the character you wished to play, some characters were destined to change or die no matter what the player does, preventing certain characters' death was virtually impossible in-game.

Selene and Theodore are the prime victims of these choices.

Choosing Theodore would lead to Selene dying and choosing Selene would kill off Theodore. There weren't any loopholes that were found, it was inevitable in any scenario in any playthrough a player does.

And if you pick another character, the character you have most affection with will survive, while the other would die. If the same amount of affection is distributed between the two, then a coin would basically then be flipped, randomly choosing which one to kill off.

Slap!*

Selene slaps both of her cheeks and stands up, showing a fierce expression on her face.

"Breathe*-Exhale*" Selene took one big breathe and exhaled, preapraing to say something to Theo.

Selene looked at theo straight to his eyes. A fire burning within the heterochromia pupils was lit with conviction. she clenched both her small delicate fist and spoke.

"No way in hell I'm dying. Dragon, or rather Theo. Your helping me with this"

Theo became wide eyed from her sudden declaration, but smiled and nodded in affirmation with the same flame burning in his crimson irises and a hint of mischief.

"I should be the one saying that. second place. oops, I mean Selene" Theo jokingly quipped

A shadow suddenly, out of nowhere, was casted in front of Theo's face.

Whoosh*

BAM!!

Luckily he was able to dodge her sucker punch just in time.

"Say that again and next thing you know, I'll be stepping on your dead corpse."

Selene glared inches away from his face.

"Heh, try me" Theo said with a smug on his face

Theo thought it was childish, but his coping mechanism was always to make jokes in serious situations, getting this habit from his previous life as Ray.

".... Can you stop with the bullsh*t and take this seriously?"

Theo raised his hands up in recognition.

"Fine, I apologize Ms. Red"

"Good, and call me Selene from now on" Selene annoyingly said as she looked away from Theo.

Theo raised an eyebrow and nodded.

"Alright Selene, in exchange call me Theo" Theo said, retaining his mischievous smile.

"... Sure." Selene nonchalantly said.

Both shook hands.

Theo was surprised with how soft and fragile her hand was, which was unusual for someone who had enough force to almost take him by surprise. It reminded him of his little sister in his past life.

Selene on the other hand was also surprised at how rough and hard his hand felt, she also had an urge to squeeze it to a pulp to get him back for his mischief, sadly even if she does, she knew that he'd barely feel it, because of how weak she currently was.

"I guess this is also a deal to work together to prevent both of us from dying later."

"Yeah" Selene nodded

Theo then does a smirk, thinking of something to spice their adventure up

"How bout we see in the end who gets the last hit of the boss? Person that wins has to forever be called second place" Theo giving Selene a proposition with a mocking tone

"Hah! You bet your a*s I'm beating you!" Selene replied, tightening her grip on their handshake.

Selene clad with a smirk agreed with Theo's proposition. Of course, both were already imagining the other party groveling in the ground in defeat when they finally won.

Theo and Selene let go of each other's hands.

Now that they entered the topic of the reason why they were sent here and both easily thought of the reason

"Sigh, Of course no one else would be better than both of us" Theo said with a sigh.

"Well, we are the best of the best." Selene proudly thumping on her chest.

To put into perspective, Both RedBlizzard and TankDragon were the top two players of the world from the active 10 million players who only played ranked, not even counting the people who only played story mode. And Both were thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of points higher than the person who was usually placed in third place, so it was not that big of a surprise that both of them were the prime suspects to be transported to Alethea.

Who would be the better candidate than RedBlizzard and TankDragon? Hailed as the two best players back on Earth.

And luckily for them, they didn't need to earn the other's affection points to form a party.

The two of them, internally, resigned themselves to fate, and decided to work together to get through the perilous future they were about to face.
