Magic, not a slight of hand, misdirection nor parlor tricks such as one's used by so called 'magicians' from the old era on Earth.
I'm talking fireballs, lighting spells, icy explosions, giant boulders thrown around, flight, teleportation and healing magics and a whole lot more. The fantasy like magic, because I've slung a few fire balls here and there before, but those aren't magics. No.
Why I'm I talking about magic now? That's because I've just turned 5 last thornsday. Finally, I'll finally be starting my magical training today. That's why I'm currently standing in the training area behind the mansion, my father had it made after he became the Baron of Hitania a decade ago before he became Count.
That's right folks! You're looking at a noble! Bow down peasents!! Muahahhahahah!

*cough, jokes aside, magics in Yodelia are categorized into 8 different elements. Said elements are fire, water, wind, lightning, earth, light, darkness and void.
There are different ways to use magic but people are mainly classified into 2 different types of user. Chanters and Enchanters. Yeah kinda stupid, the history about the origin of the name is stupid as well but we'll get there in the future.
Chanters are basically the typical classic mage from the rpg games I used to play with my friends during my times on earth, or like the caster type hunters I used to work with. They emit their magic externally, using mana to control the elements and using it to attack, such as fireballs and aqua bullets.
Enchanters are those that use magic in an internal manner, they can boost their bodies which in turn allows them to possess incredible physical prowess, they also use magic to boost their attacks. Such as adding fire to their weapons of choice, cladding themselves in lightning to boost their speed or covering themselves in shadows to increase their stealth.
Chanters actually also uses magic to give them a boost in a fight like enchanters, such as the 'Haste' spell for a speed boost or the 'Slow' spell to slow down an opponent's speed. They also use them for mundane tasks like 'Far Sight' that increases one's range of vision, I remember one of the top 10 graduates use it to peek at the girls during our junior years and nearly got blinded when he got hit by a 'Flash' spell, which is an explosion of bright light, just imagine a bright light suddenly exploding right in front of your eyes while you're in the dark.
The difference is that Chanters can give a boost spell on a large number of people at one time, while Enchanters can only use their spells to affect themselves. This in turn however makes an Enchanter's boost far stronger than a Chanter's, probably because they don't really have to share their spells so it's more potent, like, they both have a dollar. Chanters give a dollar to 10 people, meaning they'll have to share and get a smaller portion, Enchanters keeps the money to himself, he doesn't have to share so he has more than the other 10 people.
Magic ain't for everyone, or that's how it's supposed to go according to novels, nope. In Yodelia, magic is everywhere, what matters is their talent in it and the effort they put in it alongside guidance from a teacher. Not everyone can go far in life and became a magi or magic knight. Without training, one's magic prowess won't even reach level 3.
Fortunately, father is quite a high level magic knight, a 30-year old peak class level 5 Enchanter is nothing to scoff at. That's why father didn't bother hiring a tutor for me and instead opt to teach me personally instead. Which is quite surprising as a Count like him should be slumped with work. Then again, this won't last for long if my memory serves me right.

…
"Alright Allen, you ready to do this?" There he was standing straight with his left hand inside his pocket and the other holding an iron spear. He was wearing a brown trouser with black boots and a brown leather belt to ensure his pants doesn't fall. A white shirt covers his abdomen as he wipes some dust off of it. He smiles at me as I stood in front of a wooden dummy.
"You got it dad!" I was excited as fuck. Finally, finally! It's time for a training montage!! Also magics galore!! I was basically shaking in excitement.
"Bawk!" Apparently Kentucky agrees with me. That's right folks, my chicken is called Kentucky.
"Woah there, calm down. Don't burn yourself up in excitement just yet." He approaches me, slugging his spear on his shoulder all the while smirking slightly at my antics.
"Sorry dad, I'm just so excited! I can finally train in some magic!"
"Bawk!"
"*chuckle* Alright kiddo, now how about you bring Kentucky to the side and give dad some space, let me show you how it's done."
"Allright dad!!" I then went to the sides to watch my dad in action. Kentucky sitting on my head all the while.
'Alright! Show me some awesome moves!'
'Bkwak!'
..
…
'Alright, calm down Grant, just showcase some move to motivate Allen. You can do this! Show your son how awesome of a father you can be!'
*inhale**exhale**inhale**exhale*
I took deep breaths to calm myself before donning a serious face. I can't make a fool out of myself here, not in front of my son.
I glare at the wooden dummy and imagine as if it's a level 6 beast. I'll have to do this to push myself to the limit.
I concentrated mana into my body and gave a boost to myself.
'Haste' to boost my speed.
Gotta add another one.
'Penetrate' to boost my next attack.
Flames started to snake its way up my spear, which turns it into a flaming spear moments later. I then dig my heels before dashing towards the dummy. I pulled my spear to the back a bit before thrusting it towards the dummy.
'Burning Dash!'
I hit the dummy with the tip of my spear and basically tore it apart in flames.
I managed to stopped myself from charging straight through the dummy. Only my spear tip that tore through it.
I look at the dummy, then the floor, then at the place where I was standing before and then at the dummy once again.
"*sigh*, seems like I went overboard." I mumbled a bit looking at my handiwork.
The floor was blackened and crushed from where I was standing before all the way to where I'm standing at currently.
'Hmm..this should be good enough to impress Allen-Wait a minute..'
I then remembered Allen was standing not that far away on the sides just then. Panic overtook me as I look at where he was last standing and didn't see him there.
"Allen!? Allen!?" Sweet Weatheria, don't tell me I accidentally killed my own son!
That's when I heard a groan from outside of the training ring. I made a dash towards the sound and hope I didn't gave him to much of an injury.
'Lily will have my head for this, best case scenario I have to sleep in my studies for a week and worst case scenario, I get castrated.'
..
…
I was fidgeting in excitement when I saw him entering his battle stance. Even more so when his weapon was coated in flames. Then he charged towards the dummy sending my excitement spiralled upwards.
I also got sent spiraling away, apparently I forgot that I'm a 5 year old kid in all my excitement. The exploding momentum from the spell and charge was actually so strong that in sent me out of the training ring.
Me and Kentucky who nearly became a fried chicken crashed into the ground in a heap.
"Urgh, you okay Kent?" I asked my trustful chicken as I tried to sit up.
"b..kw..ak" My familiar seem to be okay, he had his back on the ground, both of his feet was facing the sky and twitching but otherwise okay.
I then heard dad calling for my name before hearing frantic footsteps coming towards us.
"KIDDO!! OH THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE OKAY!!" He seems to be happy, tears were in his eyes as he hug me tightly, as if he's afraid I was going to die.
'Welp, not like I can't come back for that matter.'
..
…
"Alright, let's start then kiddo." We're back in the training ring and the wooden dummy has been replaced by a new one. I'm currently sitting in front of it while dad was on the sides, giving me instructions.
Kentucky? Oh he's resting on the grass, outside of the ring, it seems he's a bit tired, I'll let him rest for now.
"Listen Allen, to use magic, you must concentrate into your body and feel the flow of mana. Let me help you with that." He went behind me before putting both of his hands on my back.
"Now close your eyes and concentrate, feel the flow of mana in you, I'll guide your mana and you'll have to get a ferl of it okay?" To which I nodded my head.
I closed my eyes and took deep breaths before tuning out everything else and focusing on feeling the flow of mana inside of me.
At first I didn't feel anything at all. But moments later I felt a faint..something flowing in my body..that faint feeling became clearer after a while.
The so called flow of mana actually flows around inside my body and seems to start from my heart. I then heard dad talking again.
"Get a feel of your mana, then guide it to come out of your hands. Will it to become something, anything."
I did so and I can feel the flow of mana in my body rushing towards both of my hands, the mana however stayed there and didn't exit my hands at all.
"Now Allen, you have to imagine something coming out of your hands, let it burst forth. Will it to happen with all your heart."
I then take the easiest thing to imagine, a bullet. I imagine my hands were the muzzle of a gun. I imagine a bullet coming ou tof hit and hitting in front of me.
I directed my palms outwards, will it to happen with all my heart before opening my eyes and yelling the spell's name.
"FIREBALL!!"
Then out came a gigantic fireball which flew outwards, destroyed the dummy, hits the mansion and burning chunks of it to the ground.
..
…
Sadly that was what I imagine would happen if I was op. Sadly, only a burst of small embers came out before turning into smoke instantaneously.
'....well, that was embarrassing..'
I even yelled out the spell's name out loud, and all that came out was a small spit of fire..how disappointing..
I turned towards my father and saw him trembling as he looks down on the ground...ah that's right, he must be disappointed in m-
He suddenly grabs me before lifting me up into the air while laughing loudly.
"AHAHHAHAHA!!" He then spins in place while holding me high up in the air.
I had a confused look in my face as he spins me around.
"My boy is a genius, hahahahha! Oh, he's a genius!"
I sigh to myself as I saw his happy smile, tears were streaming down his face...was he always this kind of person? The one in my memories were like a….different person...eh, there'll be time to dwell on that later.
I look at my hands before squeezing it in excitement, I close my eyes as I grin in happiness.
"Magic, Baby! WOHOO!!"
