Chapter 73: Defending the city

A complete view of the city could be seen.. It was nighttime, the bright moon shining, the million stars twinkling, it was a peaceful night for others not knowing the context of what's currently going on outside.. until a huge explosion from what seems to be near a dorm for a school occurred..

Connor ducked and evaded the droid's attack and sliced its belly, he was sweating not because it was hard but because the enemy is a never ending battle,

"Violet behind you!!." He yelled as loud as he can.

She sidesteps dodging the attack from behind and kicks the droid's legs making it loose its balance and then slash it in half.

"Boss, some explosion occurred at the west side from here." Oliver talked to Connor using Telepathy.

"More Droids?." his voice sounded tired, it's like he could pass out from the exhaustion any time now.

But he was surpassing his limits by fighting, the same goes for his precious team members.

"I don't know.. you want me to go check it out?."

"No, let the other heroes handle that. We're pretty much doing our all defending here."

In front of them, a massive army, it looked like a whole garrison of troops, they all knew it was gonna be a long night.

"Cameron!!!." She yelled in fear.

Cameron was starting to get overwhelmed by the droids, it seems as he went too far out and is now in trouble.

He's barely standing his ground at the moment, he couldn't dodge all those incoming strikes thus resulting in some areas wounded or grazed and at the far Emilia was panicking and shooting nonstop.

"Damn it!."

Sparred the droid's attack he heard a whistling sound coming from above, a comet? no, an arrow.

It was heading towards him to be more specific it landed on the droid in front of him but it wasn't just that the arrow spilt itself a million times and landed their hits on the massive army in front of them thinning them out.

"Need a hand?."

At the next second, Ten dogs appeared and chew out the droids circling Cameron, they were all Siberian Huskies, the dog's teeth, were made of steel, they were razor sharp, and the way they turned it into half was merely in one bite.

"Thanks for the help.." He says with gratitude.

"The name's Max, Atalanta and Aiden sent me nice to meet ya."

Emilia came in and jumped into Cameron's arms crying a stream of tears saying,

"I told you not to goo farr!! Stupid Cameron!!."

Connor heads towards the newly arrived hero, the droids around them were all wiped out by the ten dogs that came with him and right now the army that looked impossible to finish was only a few minutes away to be wiped out.

"I heard from the two you guys aren't an actual squad yet? that true?."

"Yeah.. but we want to help Sir."

There was a brief silence of the two and the other members were silent and proving their resolve to stay and fight.

"alright, what do you want me to track?."

"Eh?? but it's a droid though can you be able to track it?."

"Just give me good description about it and maybe I will."

"Violet tell sir Ma--!."

"Max is just fine, no need to be formal, lives are on the stake here.. so we need to put an end to this pointless invasion right here and now tell me what I'm tracking for."

And a few minutes later Violet described how they view Ac but what really made Max easily tracked the droid was...

"It has multiple bone parts attached to it's body."

That was all he needed in order to track it down, and he did.. right now Connor told Oliver to go and contact Atalanta and Aiden while the rest of them head towards the mastermind of the attack.

Max's ten dogs were forming a defensive circle around them, as if they were escorting them towards the place, as the dogs would tear off any droid in their path.

Meanwhile...

Multiple ribbons appeared and stabbed the droids that are close to Arthur and the others and formed a barrier made out of ribbons.

The person from the top dived into the massive swarm of droids and at the next second.

"Mr. Ackerman, Ms. Ritsu, Everyone I'm going to close the barrier now It's gonna be dark now."

a huge explosion occurred, but it wasn't light emitting from the explosion, it was a dark shadowy version of the light they couldn't get a clear view of everything that happened by the time the barrier closed on them.

"Why are you all here!?." The Vice president exclaims as she was worried for all of them.

Arthur knew they couldn't lie to her, they knew it'd be adding more trouble if they did so they all decided to bow and apologized.

"We're sorry!." they all said in asynchronous while bowing in front of the Vice President.

Instead of continuing her furious mood she smirked instead and before saying a word her attention was drawn somewhere, was she alert by something?, it didn't look like that was the case.

"What's wrong Vice Pres?." Dorothy asked as Anna was clinging to her side.

"Someone's outside.. two at least."

Her voice was somewhat defensive, they could tell she was on high alert after sensing the two people outside their barrier with Alex fighting off the droids.

One of Alex's ghosts were taken down by one of the droids.. only 3 remain and he was getting exhausted.

[I can't protect them at this rate.. I might die here]

Alex's ability isn't really meant to fight long battles, if possible he could end the battle within seconds but when it comes to a battle that would last for hours, he won't last.

[It doesn't matter.. I'll fight! Abigail.. I'm sorry]

Alex and his three remaining ghosts rushed towards the droids in the area until a gusts of wind stopped him at his tracks.. and at the next second when he looked at the droid's in front of him.

They were all down, stabbed by an arrow in their metal heads.. he turns behind him and sees two Heroes.

"You alright over there?."

"Oh! Sis I'll deal with the remaining scrap heads!."

"Go!."

the swordsman plunged himself towards the remaining scattered droids in the area while Alex was sitting on the floor catching his breath for relief.

"T-Thank you so muc--!."

Alex knew who was in front of him, Atalanta of the RedWolves.. the famous hunter known in the kingdom.

but..

"I'm guessing you're here for mr. Ackerman and ms. Ritsu, are you not?."

Atalanta and Aiden made sure not to leave any traces of connection between them but for some reason this boy managed to say it straight to her face without any hesitation.

Aiden was almost done dealing with the remaining droids in the area meanwhile Atalanta was still thinking of an excuse..

"What makes you say that? Me and my partner there came to check the source of the explosion and this is where it led us."

"You can't hide it.. the Student Council have been keeping an eye on all activities that happen in the school or relate to the students here.. and we've got to the point where you and that guy over there visit Arthur and Dorothy's dorm room from time to time."

The only person who allowed their stay was Sir. Charles but this boy, the President of the Student Council found everything about their connections to Arthur and Dorothy.

"And what happened on that night where a huge battle occurred fighting a villain.. Arthur, Dorothy, Saya and Carla were there at the time while you were not present there the guy was."

[This boy.. could he be?..]

"Thus I conclude you and Aiden over there have some connection too them both, don't worry I won't tell anyone your secret."

"You have my gratitude."

"You're not going to deny it?."

"I mean why would I? you and your student council have figured everything out.. I'll say the Student Council still hasn't lost it's touch after a few years."

"What do you mean?." Alex asked.

"Well the same Student Council in our time was like you.. when it's about the school nothing could be kept hidden not from the eyes of the President."

"I'm sorry.. but back then it was only the President who would do things such as that.."

"What do you mean?."

"I work with the other members.. I theorize things, they'd listen and add their own opinions or theories to things, we'd work together to make sure the school is safe."

[I knew it.. this kid is..]

Atalanta was smiling at Alex kindly as she remembered something from her past concerning the Vice President.

"Tell your Mom I said hi for me okay?." Atalanta said as she and Aiden proceeded to head back towards the city.

"Mom? she knew Mother?." Alex was stunned for a few seconds about the thought one of the famous heroes in the kingdom knows his mother.

The Barrier disperses and everyone was safe and sound, Anna was still scared and clinging to Dorothy tightly, Arthur and the rest were still on the guard.

"You don't need to be on guard.. Two heroes arrived and helped me clear the area."

[Ohh so it was heroes Abigail sensed earlier] Arthur thought to himself to satisfy his curiosity.

"Really?." Patrisha asked excitedly.

"Yes Atalanta and Aiden of the RedWolves." He smirked and stared at Arthur and Dorothy.

as the two look at opposite directions to avoid eye contact, Alex stretched his arms and said,

"Alright it's time to go to the gym everyone's worried about you."

Everyone: Yes sir.
