"Thank you for choosing me to play this role," Yeo Ri smiled politely as she bowed to the director.
After going through her emails, Yeo Ri decided to take up the drama role that Park Soo Yeon had recommended. The pay was so good that Yeo Ri couldn't help but take it. Capitalism ruled the world, after all, and Yeo Ri simply could not pass up this golden opportunity. And so, merely one day after relaying her response, she was contacted by the production team and started filming her scenes almost immediately.
Almost like a routine, the adults praised her acting, and while Yeo Ri couldn't see what was so good about it, she still accepted the compliments. It was nice to know that she at least had something she was good at.
"Oh no, it's my pleasure to have you on board. Honestly, it's thanks to one of our investors that we found you," the director laughed amiably, "I—oh, speak of the devil! Mr. Woo, who was the person who named you for the role, is here. Mr. Woo! I didn't expect to see you here," the director grinned widely, obviously trying to flatter the aforementioned person.
Yeo Ri turned her head to the direction that the director was looking at. A man, dressed in a stylish striped suit and blue-tinted sunglasses, walked confidently towards them. The man smiled, coolly raising his hand in greeting.
The man nodded to the director to acknowledge his presence, but his eyes did not move away from the young girl.
He scanned her from top to bottom. The girl was certainly a beauty, young as she was. Her figure wasn't much, but she appeared fragile and lovely with her slenderness. He could feel something inside him stir as he looked at her. Oh, to be able to ruin her... he couldn't wait.
He took off his sunglasses, tucking them into his blazer's pocket. "Miss Lee Yeo Ri, in the flesh! I'm such a big fan of yours. Ah, I can speak casually to you, right?" He held out his hand, reaching for a handshake.
Alarms went off immediately inside Yeo Ri's brain as the man addressed her.
He concealed it well, but Yeo Ri recognised the look in his gaze easily.
'You'll never get away,' the devil whispered, a ghostly touch brushing over her shoulders.
Yeo Ri suppressed her shudders as a feeling of disgust invaded her. Instead of accepting his handshake, Yeo Ri bowed, placing her hands together politely on her abdomen. Her nails dug into her palm, unable to ignore the anger and nausea that the man's gaze had given her. It felt as though sludge was flowing through her veins instead of blood.
Her body shook with murderous intent as she recalled those digusting lust-filled eyes that saw her as nothing but a plaything to own and break as they pleased.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Woo. I am Kwon Tae Yang; Miss Yeo Ri's manager. If there is anything you wish to speak about in regards to my charge, you may speak to me."
Kwon Tae Yang, noticing her discomfort, immediately got in between them. He pushed her behind him protectively, his jaw set sternly.
Woo Jin grinned, raising his hands as though surrendering, "Alright, alright. No need to be so guarded. I just wanted to come and say hello to Miss Yeo Ri, since I like her so much." A perfect smile hung on his face, seemingly unoffended at all over Manager Kwon's interruption. "It was a pleasure to meet you. If there's an opportunity in the future, I hope I can speak with you... privately."
Yeo Ri smiled coldly inside her mind. The anger she felt was intensifying with every minute that she spent in his presence, and her hands itched to reach for his neck or scratch his sickening eyes out. This man seemed harmless, but she knew—
The devil behind her cackled.
"Ah, um, thank you for your support, sir. I truly appreciate it," Yeo Ri spoke timidly, with a flustered tone. Her upturned eyes were glassy as she looked up at the man bashfully, looking like a blooming flower with a cute blush painted over her cheeks. Yeo Ri appeared as though she did not know how to handle his honeyed words.
So lovely and innocent.
A sense of thrill flared up inside Woo Jin. His smile deepened as dirty thoughts flooded his mind. How fun would it be, to corrupt such a pure girl? All the things he had planned in store for her... the poor girl wouldn't see it coming. But first—
Woo Jin and Kwon Tae Yang exchanged probing, wary looks.
—he had a pesky fly to deal with.
Consistency? Who dat? I don't know that b.
Everyone, say thank you to coffee for helping me with the writing of this chapter. Damn you, coffee...!
Anyways, I should remind myself to drink coffee if I want to write since that seems to be the only method of motivation that works... I hate what coffee does to my body, though. Caffeine and me just don't mix right.
