Vol1.Chap 16. Hello and goodbye, live a good life amongst the humans.

"Boss!" Two men ran to Theo's publisher once more, the place as busy as ever, everyone raising their heads in curiosity as the two men pass them by their faces riddled with confusion and concern.

"What is it?" The man muttered, his head into his paperwork as he slaved away, looking up at the two men with tired eyes, "Wait a minute," He muttered his voice getting progressively louder.

"Didn't I tell you all to stay until those books make it back!?" His voice boomed through the office, startling the two men where they stood, their hands and lips quivering no longer having the courage to speak about their predicament.

"U-uh, s-sir," One of them spook up, his eyes closed shut bracing for impact. "Our men have been slaughtered, only the two of us made it back."

A deafening silence laid upon the three of them, their gazes set on each other, a look of disbelief staring at looks of regret.

"Does that mean, Theo is-" His voice got a little softer, dropping his pen from disbelief.

"We don't know, he told us to go without him," one of them said their hands pinned down to their sides.

"What did this?"

"That's the thing we don't know! It looked like a man but he moved so fast and took so many of us out we couldn't just-" The door opens, a man with light green hair and blue eyes entering a smile plastered on his face and papers in his hands.

"Sounds like you're talking about vampires," He walked in uninvited, everyone looking at him in shock at the sudden entrance.

"What are you doing in here?!" The boss yelled at him.

"Sorry boss, I've got my paper work finished and I couldn't help but wait a bit longer to listen in," I smiled, resting the papers on the desk being claiming it as his seat, platting his legs with a smirk under his stare. "We need to let the village know about this."

"How are we going to do that?" One of the men muttered looking back at the one by his side.

"We're members of a publishing agency, put two and two together and Felix get off my desk!" The boss shouted, at the man causing him to get off.

"Hehe, sorry about that, i'll be clocking off now by the way" He smiled, waving good bye to the boss and the two men.

"Yeah whatever just get out!" he shouted, tossing a small clock at the door, narrowly blocked by the door slamming shut.

Slowly Felix walked out of the publishing building, the moon light caressing his skin and his travel back strapped around his shoulder. His blue eyes looked to the moon shining in it's sparkling light,

"A Waning Gibbous," He muttered, people walking by him on the busy sidewalk. "there's going to be a full moon tomorrow, guess I'll just call in sick," He sighed, holding onto his bag tight as he left, the busy street soon devouring him.

Tonight was one filled with sorrows, black and white flooded the castle campus as we all bowed our heads in shame and sorrow, the rain beating down on us yet we didn't bat an eye to the elements. Muffled noises coming from the crowd, stifled cries and pleads for a second chance, the burial of Regulus Vagabond was a bitter one.

I stood there in the crowd in disbelief, my hands clawing into the seems of my dark dress, though no tears came out, I felt bad but I don't want to cry, all I wanted was to comfort those who were, though i don't feel their pain so how could I possibly.

I let out a sigh, my eyes staring to the front as Ragnar took his stand in front of the coffin, my mother and Videlle standing at it's sides, their heads down, their faces concealed with a black transparent veil.

"We gathered here to day, to morn the death of Regulus Alistair Vagabond, who was wondering in the forest before being attacked by a human," Ragnar declared, murmurs coming from the crowd at this wild claim, people shifting from where they stood some not believing it.

"Did he do it?" I muttered to myself thinking back to the man in the forest, he was the only human there so it could be possible, I bit my nail lightly thinking about it, "I have to get those books," i continued to state my thoughts aloud though they were barely above a whisper quite as a mouse compared to the murmurs of the crowd.

"Is this, because of me?"

"We need to fight back after this tragic loss! We cant let the humans get away with this!" he continued to shout out to the crowd, the murmurs only getting worse.

"Where's Maledictus? Shouldn't he be here?" They would speak under Ragnar's speech.

"His coworker died and he's not here?! How heartless!"

"I heard he's patrolling the forest," My heart sank after hearing that the murmurs only continuing.

"I think this is a bunch of lies, why would a human come all the way out here in the first place?"

"You do have a point but," The murmurs only got into my head, cold sweat running down my face until I felt a hand on my shoulder a concerned gaze looking at me.

"You ok?" Letizia muttered into my ear to make sure no one else heard, slowly nodding i wiped the sweat from my face with a handkerchief though the feeling of doom persists.

"Yeah I'm fine," I muttered looking back at her, a weak smile on my face to see her's filled with energy.

"Guess what I got," She said with a teasing smile, causing only a look of curiosity from me mixed with a concerned gaze as she shuffled with excitement.

"What did you get?" I questioned not bothering to even play this game of cat and mouse.

"You're really boring you know that?" She pouted revealing her hand, my hand dropped when I saw it, a book with crimson mixed with bronze, like blood splatter on metal the title "1000 years and 1000 more; the war of the dark ages,"

"You actually got it?!" I tried to share my excitement as quietly as possible in the crowd, grabbing the book my pale fingers running across it's smooth surface the paper made to look like bronze shining in the dim moon light. "How did you even get this?"

Letizia stepped back her teasing smile coming back as she hid her hands behind her back.

"that's a secret!"
