Vol1.Chap 12: A place

"What have I done," Fraus muttered, getting up from bed the figure of a goddess wrapped up in silk by his side, her pail skin peaking through the white sheets as she shifted and murmured grunting softly from satisfaction from their last encounter. The dim moonlight shone on his figure as he sat there deep in thought, the dark crimson blinds flying in the dim breeze that flew through the night sky.

He scratched his head in frustration getting out of bed, his feet slowly shuffling towards the shower as he got inside.

Standing in the shower, his hands holding his weight up as he relaxed against the wall, his heart pounding after he remembered the actions that led to that point, the feelings he felt, still didn't compare to the ones he got from her warmth alone in contrast to Sorcha's cold embrace, the water that beats down on his skin only a reminder of that embrace, the woman he lost everything to.

Water droplets ran down his face, past his crimson eyes as he breathed, his heavy breath seen from the shaking cold, his fingers digging into the tile-plated walls. His eyes slowly closed embracing the cold as it beat down on him, his mind going back and forth, thinking about what Sorcha said, thinking about his loyalties. 

"I'm sorry," was the only thing he could manage to say, guilt tearing at his back as he grieved, slowly sinking down towards the floor his hands soon covering his face as he cried.

I sat at the family table by my lonesome, the man that I once despised now sitting in my mind, as I propped up my head with my hand over my meal. My mind wandered as I took a tiny peck of my breakfast, my appetite far from there.

With a deep sigh, I pushed away from my chair, my mind far from relaxed, walking around my part of the castle idly, the emptiness starting to set it, other than my grandfather and Jovian, no one really comes in here, not even my brothers. 

It gets lonely sometimes, and I can't shake the feeling of, maybe, I should give him a chance, there's no one else by my side, if we marry we'll live here together, his voice echoed in my mind as I thought, his one line that tugged at my heart in it's most vulnerable moment, etched into my brain, a core memory.

"Please Elisa, we're going to be married whether you like it or not, if you're really not interested in this human as you say, please, give me a proper chance." His voice faded in and out, like a ghost whispering against my ear begging me to join it for eternity.

"Maybe," I thought aloud, walking through the hallways that connected my dwelling space to the rest of the castle, pristine wallpaper with designs of dark crimson diamonds bathed in a less glamourous shade of red in the backdrop, pictures of my face along with the rest of my family plastered on its walls.

My footsteps echo through the narrow empty halls, my eyes pressed forward, a smile forming on my face as my steps turn into strides and soon a small run, a smile plastered on my face as my heart beats fast from excitement.

"Maybe I'll see him today," I grinned slightly, my hands behind my back in a playful demeanor as I moved forward, finally up against the door, pushing it with all my might.

I peeked inside to see Jovian resting on a crimson chair, its design laced with gold that ran down its back, with a soft sigh I hugged him from behind catching him off guard, my hand wrapping around his slightly cold figure. 

"Oh, why are you here?" He asked, smiling slightly, clearly happy about my presence.

"Just thought I'd come to see you," I muttered my face buried in his neck as I spoke, his arms soon lightly touching mine as we just stood there for a while.

The moon peeks through the dark crimson blinds that dance with the wind, the light crimson walls illuminated by the light from the majestic moon. 

"Never thought I'd see the day you'd come to see me," He teased, his hand caressing the side of my face, his warm fingers pressing against my ice-cold cheek.

"If you keep running your mouth maybe I'll change my mind," I said under my breath hugging him a bit tighter, "you're very comfortable for an idiot."

"You wound me," Jovian chuckled, making space for me on his lap to get me more comfortable, I took the initiation, my head still buried within his chest. 

"So what are you doing here all by yourself?" I inquired.

"Just thinking," He muttered, his gaze seemed a bit distant.

I raised an eyebrow at his claim a look of doubt on my face as I pushed away gently to look him in the eyes.

"About what? Excuse my words but you hardly look like one for thinking," Jovian chuckled at my words, rolling his eyes at my claim.

"I'm thinking about, where I should take you, you've always been interested in life outside the castle, well how about I show you?" He smiled, his emerald gaze looking into mine as they lit up with wonder and intrigue.

"A place? Outside the walls?" I questioned, I couldn't get the smile off my face as I thought about what and where that could be.

"Yup, a place almost as beautiful as you dear," His hand caresses my cheek as a deep crimson fades into my pale face.

"When do we go?" I asked, my voice a bit quieter than normal.

"Why not now?" he asked, 

"Well," I muttered looking down in shame at admitting this, "I can't really fly well."

Jovian smiled rubbing my cheek, lightly forcing me to look at him once more,

"Don't worry, the place in question isn't that far, we'll walk there together."
