Chapter 44

“Wow. When did you—”

“From a couple of cans,” Keenan interrupted, and Pablo was amused when he noticed the redness all over his boyfriend’s cheeks and ears. “I wasn’t willing to risk ruining yet another date. Besides, I had so many other things to do, and I wanted everything to be perfect for you.”

Pablo reached for Keenan’s hand and squeezed it gently. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Eat up. It’s still warm.”

Pablo obliged, and the two of them didn’t get to chat much because Keenan dashed toward the kitchen once the soup was finished and brought back two steaming plates of spaghetti with minced beef and barbecue sauce on top.

“Is this your specialty? Or does it also come from a can?” Pablo teased, and he almost burst out laughing when Keenan’s face reddened once again.

“It’s freshly made,” Keenan replied. “It’s a simple recipe. Easy enough to make.”

Pablo grinned before leaning over to peck Keenan’s cheek. “I know. I’m just giving you a hard time.”
