You don't need permission to heal..

Miranda sat in her car and took a deep breath before looking out the window.

Why did she have to do this again? She asks herself as she took a view of the two-story building. The same building she had been visiting for two years now.

I need the sleeping pills, she reminds herself. And sighed before getting out of the car and then striding into the building her heels making a clicking sound as she walks.

She stops slightly at the receptionist and picks up a card with a nod at the lady who greeted her before she continues into the building.

She reached the front of a closed door and paused... Took one deep breath and with a thought that she just had to get through the thirty minutes of someone trying to pick at her brains just so she could get the prescription for the sleeping pills.

She walks into the office after a slight gentle knock on the door.

The office was designed like some sitting room with sofas a tv, and a few flower pots that were placed on the windows giving the room a somewhat serene look because that was what the lady who sat on one of the sofas while sipping a cup of coffee, wanted it to be like for her patients or friends as she addressed them.

"Oh, Randa!" She calls from her seat with a wave of her hands after she dropped the cup of coffee on the table and flashes a smile at Miranda who raised the side of her mouth in an attempt to seem like she was comfortable with the name she was just addressed as.

"Good evening doct-"

"Shop," she pressed her hand to her lips to stop her from completing the words. "No formalities remember?" She scolds making Miranda cringe as she went to sit on the sofa opposite from the one the doctor was seated on.

"Good evening Sally," she greeted and that made a smile spread itself across her face of Sally.

"There you go," Sally beamed at her with a wide grin that only made Miranda feel a little fidgety.

"So.. Tell me about your day," Sally says sounding nonchalant like a friend would when asking her friend how her day went.

"My day was okay... Just like every other day," Miranda says but she refused to meet her gaze as she unconsciously picks at her left thumb using her right thumbnail.

"Oh, girl, I know it was okay, I just wanna hear about it in detail," Sally said urging her to speak.

Miranda kind of felt guilty, but she didn't say anything as she want to remain calm and act kike everything was under control.

"Oh, you know been at the office, since 8 am, and I just left," she says her voice was a little low, so she clears her throat just so she wouldn't sound small and anxious.

"No. Randa, now don't live out the juicy parts... Did you meet anyone new?" Sally piqued she wanted to get her talking.

Sally knew Miranda to be one of the special patients she heard and she was set on trying to help her if only Miranda was willing to take that help.

"Nothing, much I received a call from my mom," she says, as she continues to fidget. She knew she had to give Sally something to chew on just so she wouldn't try to pry further as she wasn't ready to start divulging the whole thing that transpired.

"Oh, great! Have you finally decided on when to go see them?" Sally questioned making Miranda stop fidgeting slightly to look at her before her attention went back down to her hands, and the fidgeting continues.

"I don't plan on going back to New York, not any time soon," Miranda mumbles.

At least she was saying something, Sally smiles at herself.

"Did you try the confrontation we spoke about?" Sally questioned making a hard look make its way up Miranda's face.

She stared at Sally for a moment, almost as if she was trying to analyse her quest before answering, although she was well aware of what she was asking her.

Miranda looked away slightly and then back at her hands, before checking her wrist watch.

"It's almost time," she mumbles instead of answering the question she was just asked.

Sally sighed, she wouldn't call a patient a lost cause, but she really feels she can't penetrate into Miranda's thoughts and that only makes it hard for her to get through to her.

"Here," Sally said, handing her the daily dose of pills making Miranda's face lit up immediately.

That was the main reason why she was here anyway, she thinks to herself as she reaches out to take the pills.

"Why can't you just give me the whole bottle," Miranda mumbled as she stared at the two pills in a transparent envelope.

"We spoke about this Randa, you-"

"Yeah, I remember," Miranda cuts in as she gets up to her feet. Making Sally smile, although what she really wanted to do was let out an exasperated sigh.

"See you tomorrow," Sally calls from her sit and all she received as a response was a nod.

"And remember, you don't need their permission to heal," Sally called just when Miranda was about to leave the office, and for a split second Sally saw the hesitation in her eyes as she paused slightly only for it to disappear in no time and then without turning to look back at Sally, she exits the office.

"I was not waiting for their permission," Miranda declared after getting into her car, her eyes narrowed slightly on her reflection in her rare view mirror, and the corners of her mouth raised slightly at the thought that just occurred to her.

"And I won't be needing it," she said, before starting her car engine and driving off onto the busy streets of LA with music blasting through her speakers although she had her ears plugged so she wouldn't hear a thing...
