"What shall we have?" Sasha placed the menu in front of Neil.
Neil chose a simple course on the menu. He then closed the menu and returned it to the waiter.
"How was your work?" Neil asked.
"Good..." Sasha replied.
Neil suddenly had his lips curled upward in a smile.
"Why are you smiling?" Sasha asked.
"Because you answered weirdly." Neil chuckled earning a meaningful look from Sasha.
Not far from where they were seated was a black sedan parked just across the road. A pair of eyes glued to the couple's which were seated at a table in front of the restaurant. The cold glint in his eyes was enough to make icicles pop from underneath the table, throwing away every food they were enjoying.
"It's delicious." Sasha thumbs up. Seeing Neil staring at someone behind her, Sasha turned around and saw Ryan.
Her body stiffened when she met his gaze.
"Director Shore." Neil greeted with a smile.
Ryan gave him a small smile and asked, "Sorry, Did I crash your date?"
"No...No. It's not like that." Neil stood up. "Did you come to have dinner?" Neil added.
"Yes. Unfortunately, my friend could not make it." Ryan looked at Neil with a stiff smile.
Neil, out of respect casually said," Would you like to join us for dinner?"
Ryan took this opportunity to pull out the chair next to Sasha and sat down. He said, "If you insist, how could I say no."
Neil was stunned. He had worked for his boss for so many years, but this was the first time he saw this side of his boss.
"Hello, Director Shore, What would like to order?" Sasha asked Ryan while she moved her chair a bit further from him.
"One green salad," Ryan said to the waiter.
Sasha blinked her eyes rapidly. 'Who the hell eats green salad for dinner?' She thought.
Sasha glanced at Ryan, and she saw that he kept on staring at her. This made her so nervous to the point that she couldn't even eat her food properly.
"Is it hot? Should the AC temperature be decreased?" Neil said upon noticing Sasha's cheeks becoming red.
"No..." Sasha replied.
At that moment Neil got a phone call, and seeing the number, he frowned. "Excuse me, I need to take this call," he went outside to talk to the person on the phone, then came back a few minutes later.
"I am sorry. I have to go. Sasha, I am sorry." Neil apologized.
"It's fine, go ahead," Sasha said in a consoling tone.
"Director Shore, please enjoy your meal," Neil said before he rushed out.
Sasha's face took on an expression of displeasure. "Ryan, What are you thinking? What if Neil...." She paused and pursued her lips. With an exasperated sigh, she tried to move her chair again a bit further but the leg of her chair got caught on the carpet and tilted her chair. She was going to fall.
Ryan immediately reached out and caught the chair to prevent it from falling. When he pulled her chair up, it propelled her chair closer to Ryan. She could feel his hot breath on her face, and her heartbeat increased.
Sasha's gaze fell on her plump lips. He took her chin between his thumb and forefinger.
"You …..," Sasha stammered.
"There was some sauce on your chin," Ryan said in a sensual tone and wiped it with his hand.
"Director Shore, please enjoy your meal" Sasha stood up, swivelled on her heels and left the restaurant.
-------
Sighing, Sasha was sorting out her clothes when someone knocked on her door.
The moment she saw who was standing outside, she lunged to close the door immediately. However, Ryan stretched out a hand to stop her. As the door swung open again, Sasha tumbled backwards, and Ryan took the opportunity to stride into the room.
With her brows knotted, she walked into the room after him.
Sasha felt suffocated at his formidable presence; it seemed as if her room had suddenly shrunk.
"This room is so you." Ryan approached her. Feeling intimidated, Sasha retreated a few steps backwards and accidentally tripped and fell onto the couch.
"Why are you acting so weird?" Ryan raised one of his eyebrows.
Seeing how much Sasha resembled an angry cat, Ryan suddenly found the entire situation rather amusing.
Sasha was silent for a moment before she said, "Ryan, we are not suitable for each other."
Ryan frowned, not liking what Sasha had just said. "You wouldn't be able to know the outcome unless you give it a try. I mean, you would never know. The two of us might be the perfect match for each other!."
Sasha took a deep breath and continued, "Did you know that you're like the unattainable star and moon in the eyes of others? You can be seen, but you're untouchable, unattainable, and unreachable."
When Ryan heard this, his eyes suddenly darkened. "Miss Sasha, You are very dramatic."
A few moments passed before Sasha calmed down, and then she said in a light but a bitter voice. "Stop joking around. In the end, I'll only be a passerby in your life."
